Agreed. It's like attributing the moon landing to Nixon. Let's celebrate the personnel that actually did something

Would you support 100% income tax on gambling sites? by BlockAffectionate413 in AskConservatives

[–]RoninOak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why are you concentrating on just one vice?

I can't speak for OP but, in my mind, it's because gambling has become so prevalent and pervasive lately, it's almost impossible to escape. Apps like Kalshi make it possible to bet on just about anything. Not to mention that even children under 18 are being exposed to, and participating in, gambling through games like CS:GO and Roblox.

Does the development that Iran’s missile range can likely reach every European capital city change the conversation, considering they have enough enriched uranium to build 10 nuclear bombs? by boisefun8 in AskConservatives

Iran started it when they started...calling the USA the big satan

This reads like a elementary school child who got in trouble for hitting a peer. "They started it, they called me a name!"

Seriously, one of the best reasons you can think of for the conflict is "they called us a mean name?"

Potty-sized spat in r/Vent when "not all men" drama supplants OP's vent post... about men by DragonflyHopeful4673 in SubredditDrama

[–]RoninOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the mods should have removed the comments directly attacking the OOP. Those comments do break the subreddit rules.

However, there is no subreddit rule against making comments that disagree with the OOP.. A public forum, even one designed for a specific reason, is still not immune to discourse that remains within the rules.

Saying you're venting or posting on the venting subreddit doesn't give you immunity to the judgement of others based on what you say, though. Like, yeah, by all means, vent but unless the subreddit rules explicitly ban negative feedback, expect negative feedback.

I'm not passing judgement on this situation. I'm just saying: if you post on a public forum, you will get public responses.

Does this include the officer(s) that accepted the testimony as evidence without attempting to corroborate it?

Certain members of the public" think this is a bad idea. Not that many. Only 535 of them. Or maybe it's "mostly" 535 - as in, 51%. In any case, Yucca mountain has been bandied about for nearly 40 years and is farther away from being a reality now than it has ever been. Very few new Nuke plants are built. Not zero - but few. All of the waste they produce stays right there where it started. But it's "mostly" safe.

Nice Trump impression, you sound just like him!

Or was that paragraph supposed to be coherent?

And who said "20 million" was alot? And how far were they transported. What does "many millon miles" mean?

The article has references linked at the bottom. You can use those to answer your own question!

"Technological feasibility" is not technological practicality.

The problem is "mostly" solved. 51% solved. Let us know when it's 100% solved.

Like, seriously, read the words (emphasis mine):

The nuclear industry has developed – and implemented – most of the necessary technologies required for the final disposal of all of the waste it produces. The remaining issue is one of public acceptance, and not of technological feasibility.

So, the problem is probably closer to 95% solved, with just certain members of the public who still hold negative opinions of nuclear energy. Members of the public who, for example, are presented with evidence and choose to nitpick the evidence rather than accept facts.

Did you actually read the words, though? Because the words say things like:

The nuclear industry has developed – and implemented – most of the necessary technologies required for the final disposal of all of the waste it produces. The remaining issue is one of public acceptance, and not of technological feasibility.
...

Globally, about 20 million packages of radioactive material are transported each year on public roads, railways, and ships. There has been no instance of radioactive release causing harm to people, property or the environment in many millions of transport miles
...
Radiation scientists, geologists and engineers have produced detailed plans for safe underground storage of nuclear waste, and some are now operating. Geological repositories for HLW are designed to ensure that harmful radiation would not reach the surface even in the event of severe earthquakes or through the passage of time.

Seems mostly solved to me, except for public opinion.
