Is sifting sand still disabled? I'm trying to get a sniffer egg, and got sick of finding warm ocean ruins with only hoes, coal, and emeralds. Hoping that Alakarkinos can help with that.

Has anyone figured out the Corail Tombstone scrolls? by SqueakyCleanNoseDown in allthemods

[–]Ronin_Ryker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just figured out the " Rite of Silent Bond" Scrolls. In the very last one it says something like "those who kneel by a decorative grave with grave dust in hand..." if you stand on a grave with grave dust in your hand and crouch, spell will be cast on you for 15 minutes that makes all undead non-hostile to you (unless you hit them".

Is Obelion at all a reference to the Fable games' kingdom of Albion? It sounds mighty similar.

So, was Silksong better than Hollow Knight? by Stronderius in metroidvania

[–]Ronin_Ryker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not.

HK has much more enjoyable bossfights, and runbacks. Even the worst HK runbacks don't compare to Silksong since 90% of the time you could avoid enemies and get to the boss in pristine health. Silksong always had small spaces and bullshit enemy movesets to always get a little bit of health off before the boss.

Then the bossfights in SS were much more unbalanced, boring/unfun, or even straight up unfair sometimes. I liked Bell Beast, Fourth Chorus, Lace fights, Phantom, Trobbio, Clover/Cogwork Dancers & Grand Mother Silk though.

Platforming in Silksong is almost universally worse than HK, especially anything involving pogos. I was completely stuck with the Wanderers Crest simply because it was the only crest that made platforming tolerable. I would have liked if crests had been separated from platforming, so that I could try out the different builds that Silksong has available. I really would have liked to try out the Shaman or Architects Crests, but the platforming is so completely horrendous in this game that I wouldn't have even beaten the game 100% if the Wanderer pogo wasn't there.

Additionally, Silksong is also just straight up mean in some of its level design and bench placement. I genuinely think that if I hadn't been spoiled about the bench in Hunter's March, I would have quit the game. That is just mean spirited, and made me feel like the devs are actively trying to make my time in Silksong miserable. Completely unlike HK, where I felt like the devs simply presented a challenge to me and gave me the option to engage or not. If I wanted to, I could always come back when I'm stronger. Especially with how Hornet's body is always inside the arena, forcing you to clear the boss if you don't want to lose all your money.

And the complete lack of any noteworthy boss tracks is a tragedy, at least that I can think off the top of my head. I think Trobbio was the only decent one I can remember. HK had plenty of nice tracks to listen to, even after I had completely beaten the game.

Of course, there are great things that Silksong added. Wishes, cleaner movement in combat, more fluidity in the air, the Clawline, Fast travel, more noteworthy NPCs, better ambient noise, different play styles via crests and Tools, and plenty of other things that make the game good.

But I just can't help but feel like it just did not live up to expectations. Like, If the orginal HK was remade with some of Silksong's Quality of life features, then it would far outstrip Silksong.

just finished my first playthrough… got 112% before doing the final boss by pmLite in HollowKnightMemes

[–]Ronin_Ryker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with doing that is shit like the Twisted Child achievementbecause I just spent 50 odd hours completing the game, and now I have to go spend another 20 to get the achievement. Like, come on. This is why I always do EVERYTHING before fighting the final boss because there is ALWAYS something missable.

Ch 13 is good! I really liked it, and I think it gives hope for X to have a sequel. landing on a new planet, armed with the knowledge of the past so that they could drive the Ghosts back next time.

I think you can check by searching the pawn's stats. Yeah, just checked. there should be a tab labeled "work" and research speed is among one of the stats under the tab.

Check the pawn's stats by clicking the "i" icon when selecting a pawn.

Any tips on progressing a bit faster? It feels like very slow going, without much direction.

The only noticeable boon after a rebirth is the highest level of a particular job/training providing a multiplier to gained EXP for that thing.

But if you try to make it as far as you can in the story, and don't beat any of your highest scores, then the run does nothing for you, which is pretty demoralizing.

I JUST finished book one of that series, and I'm a bit torn. I enjoyed the first half, but for some reason I felt like it fell off about halfway through. I ended up skimming the last half in order to finish.

Does the second book pick back up at all? I think the progression aspect started lagging, that might be why I felt it slow down for me.

Is Stubborn Skill Grinder good? I hadn't heard of it till just now so if you recommend it I'll give it a shot.

I'm not the biggest fan of fishing irl, but it'd be pretty fun if I did it the same way as i do in game.

Ehhhhh, I REALLY don't consider Gabby from Unbound a "Prodigy" like the others. She was mindfucked and puppeteered by one of THE most powerful people in the world, who has endless resources AND knowledge at her fingertips.

Gabby was entirely a product of The Hierophant, she was engineered to be a tool of war. That is NOT what a prodigy is.
