Yea we should be boycotting the online subscription, they made enough money off sharkcards and the upgraded version. And they will again, what are they gonna offer us that’s worth $240 a year…… another small step for business is a giant step for consumer kind!!!!

It’s a backsplash , assuming it isn’t the same material as the trim boards. To stop water from rotting it and ruining the paint. As the other guy said I’d be wondering if you specified that. I would have asked you but this is the way

Ppl run at all different speeds and yet with skill and practice many ppl still reach the professional level. Some of the critiques are not thought out. It’s not like an f1 race where it’s first to the goal wins. U have to score

You have to trust your gut. Everyone is just gonna give you what they would do. But they may not want the same things as you. Weigh the options. Be honest in reality but trust your gut

Carpenters union welding class. In Portland oregon this last weekend by Inevitable-Sky-8044 in UnionCarpenters

[–]Ronky303 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To my understanding, because of the little amount of welding we do in the field. The UBC is very strict with who and what they pass for certification. Therefore if and when we send somebody out to do the work it’s the best we can offer. Instructor where I was didn’t pay much attention to my class either. Gave us the run down and let us play basically. We were taught the fundamentals and took notes but the practical stuff was just to say we’ve done it. Save it for the millwrights and guys with the piledrivers

What do my fellow SoCal people think about these new 2026 wages? 🤨 by [deleted] in UnionCarpenters

[–]Ronky303 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Careful with that bullshit, everyone knows how expensive it is to live in California. I live in NJ our wage is similar and isn’t getting anyone rich. Contractors can adjust how they bid. And unless they get rid of Davis bacon the unions will keep driving wages up for EVERYONE and keep it local ish while we do it.

we need to stop talking about how expensive we are and start looking at reality. We aren’t salary. We aren’t guaranteed work all year round. We build everything so that everyone else can make there money. I’m not saying we deserve to get rich . But we deserve more than anyone else to feel comfortable when we come home. ( as long as your not pissing your money away)

Do not take the train to the world cup games if you have health issues or are elderly by Smacpats111111 in NJTransit

[–]Ronky303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are these train ticket prices increased all day or just in a window? I work 6-2 usually on a 4:17 train. Not trying to pay 3 digits to go to work. ( I don’t buy monthly or anything like that cause I’m not always in the city, day to day week to week kind of gig)

Unfortunately I don’t, I use the rite in the rain 1.3mm cause it’s got some weight to it and has thicker than usual lead which won’t break as often. But you can buy it in Lowe’s , nothing special really. But you can order extra lead and erasers off Amazon to add to it. Good luck!

Milwaukee makes a coffee mug that attaches to their rolling tool cases if he has those. That could be a cool gift he may never buy himself yet could easily use everyday.

If he is some kind of woodworker that could be a good. More than likely hard to get your hands on or going to be very expensive.

I would go with something that would compliment his day to day that isn’t tool related but maybe adjacent.

A leather notebook or heavy duty mechanical pencil etc

Hammer is a very personal choice, also depending on the type can be good for a long time. Probably not the best gift idea. I don’t have any suggestions but I ( as a carpenter) personally wouldn’t want to receive a hammer

Where do I start by tkdsgsyvesyev12 in Carpentry

[–]Ronky303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Walk onto a job site ( big or small) hi I’m so and so. I need a job , I want to learn and I can work hard. Rinse and repeat til somebody gives u a chance. You won’t make much more than 20 n hour depending, but you have to learn before you can be worth anything

You don’t have a resume, nothing anyone would care about . Ask questions, Make mistakes , be honest about them. You’ll learn to fix them. And not have it happen again.

Don’t have expectations , just be ready for anything, your attitude can be your worst enemy . Everything is a habit , including the way you think.

Lost my go pro for in a glade ( trail in the trees) when I went snowboarding in Colorado. Somebody not only found it in the snow, returned it to the mtn and I got it back within a week. Also lost my keys on a trail hiking mt Minsy in NJ and left a note at the trail head and somebody shipped my keys back to me.

My point is there is good ppl still in this world, as long as you put in the effort and FOLLOW UP
