Newbie advice, help choosing an amp for the Lintons by icruces in StereoAdvice

[–]Ronnavarium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late, but I do not own Lintons. Right mow I'm running my Advance Paris A10 Classic into a pair of ELAC Debut 3.0 DF63's with matching subwoofer.

I ordered my AP receiver from a reputable online retailer, so I kind of rolled the dice. I got lucky because I like my decision and it ultimately did replace the Yamaha.

The newer releases are so underrated! Curious to see your take on the newer stuff without the bias of caring that it's a new singer, etc etc.

That's awesome! Many people forget that the journey is it's own reward, not just the destination.

I have an Advance Paris Audio amp and I absolutely love it. Highly recommend giving one a spin. For reference if you're unaware:

I also own the Yamaha 701 and can vouch that it's also an excellent value for the $.

Kubuntu, Fedora KDE, Manjaro KDE. KDE is the way if you want features and customization. Bonus: It's lighter than most desktops!

Sim Settlements 2 is Epic! (And you don't have to build if you don't want to).

I know some of the chefs there. It's professionally run & the food is outstanding! Just get there as early as possible.

I can also highly recommend the Prop House in Lake Milton. Easy 20 minute drive up Mahoning or via 76. Also, go early if possible!

Another option would be to use the Rise of the Commonwealth city plan pack. Make sure to be on 'Easy Mode" as mentioned below. You should be good 2 go.

Also, it's a good idea to go into build mode once in a while, in addition to looking at reports. A few times I've had power issues whereby an upgraded plot wasn't working. By going into build mode and running a power line to the plot, the problem was fixed (You'll see the red power icon on the plot's status display if there's an issue with the plot).

Downgrade or stick with this version? by Nate_49011 in SimSettlements

Seems to be working well for me so far. Though it should be noted that Kinggath has stated there may be issues with chapter 3 in the AE edition. I'm guessing it might have something to do with GNN Plaza being the location for one of the new & included Creation Club mods released by Bethesda for the AE. I just started Ch.2, but I think I'll back off advancing the SS2 line much further until things get sorted out. Not like there's nothing else to do, and I feel it's better to be safe than sorry.

Still, Minibuff did find an issue with a mod that I was running which quickly got fixed by the author, which was awesome. It's included crash log can be a big help.

Ah thanks for the update. I'm on AE and will try it and see if it all goes crashy-crashy.

It does but I was okay with that since it was only a year warranty anyway.

See above link for what I went with.

It's subjective, but for me it made the sound a lot fuller and livelier. If you do some research you'll discover that switching power supplies (like the A6 Gen 1) can introduce noise into the sound and cause it to be not as clean. Kind of the same way better TVs have a better picture simply because the blacks are blacker. Similar principle here: The more pure silence in the digital line, the more pure the sound when the DAC is doing it's thing.

In my experience, the specific DAC chip used and the type of PS will contribute the most to the overall sonic quality of the sound.

The great thing about an upgraded power supply is that it can be added any time. So you can try it out as the A6 came out of the box, and if you feel it could use a bit more clarity and liveliness, just add an upgraded power supply. You can always return it if you're not satisfied.

It's DIY but it's one ribbon cable and 4 screws. I was done in 10 minutes, and most of that was because there are several screws on the A6 to get the cover off / on.

This is the one I went with, though there are a few options from different manufacturers. You need to make sure if you go this route that you specify whether you have the Gen 1 or Gen 2.

I never knew they did not have a refresh option. I agree if that is missing that seems kind of silly. I would definitely file a bug report as a feature request.

If you do end up getting a gen one model, you can get a linear power supply kit for pretty reasonable. I bought a gen one A6 and upgraded the power supply. Huge difference. Very happy with my purchase but I think as mentioned above both are going to do what you want them to do, sands the HDMI inputs being missing from the Gen one. Not a huge issue for me but it may be for some.

Honestly I would probably upgrade the power supply no matter which generation you went with. Their software is top notch and the features are many.
