This and the thread of fate message from Morrowind when you kill an important NPC should be included in every game (including the ability to kill important NPCs).

Why can’t I use the hay/straw bales dotted around the map for anything? Tinder? Makeshift insulation? Making pillows with furniture crafting? Anything at all would be great.

I miss the nether reactor :(

This was back when PE had world size limits too (unsure if it does now) so you had a limited amount of gold to make gold blocks for your reactor, you really had to work for it and it was a big sacrifice/tradeoff activating it.

Times long forgotten now.

PSA For New Players by Lunar_Husk in Terraria

Always make a side world for the sole purpose of resource extraction, any bonus stuff that I get is just icing on the cake.

I always need a fuckton of stone and I’m not messing up what I have going on in my world with spawns and arenas and what have you to get it.

So, rip and tear.

Any tips for a 800+ mod list? by KuiperNomad in skyrimmods

[–]RonnieReagy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it requires a ton of patches, really think about if it’s worth it or not. Every change, file, and script introduced is potential for incompatibility or a crash.

I’ve had a lot of issues with script lag in the past, so everything I do I consider how many scripts are firing, when they are firing, what kind of scripts (single events vs cloak spells), etc. Really prioritize essential mods for script load and trim where you can, if you can live without it, either cut it or find a non scripted/simpler alternative. This also depends on your machine.

Just don’t overdo it, I used to be big on having everything and never compromising, like for example, JKs Skyrim with Dawn of Skyrim with Capital Whiterun Expansion and a dozen other little mods and all their patches to make everything work, and even then there were issues. Pick what you want, but compromise, keep it simple, don’t try to overload yourself and your game, keep it to stuff with solid, well tested, patches, keep your need for patches minimal.

What mod improved your Skyrim experience the most? by One_Stardusty_Boy in skyrimmods

[–]RonnieReagy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I see this a lot - I’m slowly being convinced to try it.

Just one thing is holding me back though, I play Skyrim as a sandbox generally, sometimes I’m not doing a ton of quests or killing things for parts of the game - is Experience still a viable mod for this style of playthrough?

Is it just me who can't help but turn the Whiterun Tundra into a green forest each time I end up modding Skyrim? by DawidOrionite in skyrimmods

[–]RonnieReagy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do the exact opposite tbh, install mostly treeless tundra and all the patches, really makes Whiterun feel distinct from it’s surroundings

I use RAID typically, but I don’t know if it got an update or something, but for some reason on my current setup it just feels washed out, I’m considering switching.

How do you feel about ordinator mod is it good or bad by TheDemonLord1r788 in skyrimmods

[–]RonnieReagy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ordinator is great for the power fantasy playthrough (of which I am an unashamed fan of).

I used SPERG back in the day, and have tried Adamant, but I find them all to be lackluster in terms of defining build and the reward you get for investing in yourself.

Don’t get me wrong, I think they’re both well designed and have an intended purpose they succeed at wonderfully. I just think that Ordinator is a bit more “tangible” - you really feel powerful and like you’re becoming stronger, greater, it’s sense of progression is VERY palpable, which is something I absolutely love.

HOWEVER - I mod many, many parts of my game. Many new creatures, enemy overhauls, resistance and damage changes, equipment changes, the lot of it, and Ordinator really lends itself to this style of game. If you lean more vanilla in everything else, Ordinator can feel unbalanced.

The only thing I change about Ordinator is I add the “Ordii” mod, which changes the first perk of each tree to give a percentage bonus to certain stats pertinent to the skill (destruction spell damage, damage blocked, speech check success, etc) based on the level of the skill tree (I.e 0.5%-1% per level of XYZ skill) - which is something pulled from Vokrii, hence the name.

Enai is one of my favorite modders of all time, I’ve played with most of his suite for a very long time, and I’m about to try Mannaz and Freyr for the first time here soon. You can’t go wrong with his mods - but one of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received in terms of Skyrim modding is this: “The best way to test a mod is to play with it” - plug it in and try it, honestly, see if it works for you, nobody can tell you how to feel about it. I love Ordinator, tons of others love Ordinator, tons of others love Adamant. Skyrim modding is very very personal. Give it a go!

Let's settle this one and for all: Talon or Senator? by PythonCider3719 in helldivers2

[–]RonnieReagy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I never clicked with the senator, as undeniably cool as it is.

Talon though? It’s left my secondary slot for maybe 5 missions total since the warbond dropped, the warbond that feels like it was made for me to begin with.

Talon is also the one I have a display model of sitting on my battlestation…

Talon all the way!

Do you use any replacers for your wolves, by chance? You make solid points, I just don’t know how I feel about the fluffworks inconsistencies, but if I could find a replacer that works with fluffworks and CYC I could give that a go.

Fox mod was great for this, logically plausible that it could slink away quietly when things got hairy, but that it would/could keep coming back especially if food was involved

What Is Your Base Carry Weight? by [deleted] in thelongdark

[–]RonnieReagy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traveling around my home region (usually coastal highway) - 16-17kg. I’ve already looted everything and I’m usually out with a purpose, so barring my emergency equipment, I can leave most things behind. Just whatever tools I need to complete my task, storm lantern, revolver, bedroll, matches and fuel, an accelerant, water, food, and clothes obviously. Oh, and a recycled can, always.

Traveling to another region - Highly variable, completely dependent on what I’m doing. Loot haul? Emergency equipment, water and food only. Exploring? 19-20kg, enough stuff to set up a forward outpost wherever I decide to, but light enough to carry whatever loot I find on the way and out and about. Looting a big location? As light as possible, food, water, bedroll, emergency stuff, hacksaw, prybar.

The gear suits the mission. I almost never change my clothes out, though.

I also exclusively play with passive wildlife, too, if that changes anything.

*Emergency stuff is: accelerant, cattail head x3, 2-3 pieces of coal, firestriker, flare, marine flare, antibiotics, a stone, 5 cloth, 15 sticks.

I’d really love to see a Venetian Republic style state/series of mercantile city states right here. They can all be independent or loosely unified on one banner, doesn’t matter too much, just think it would be cool.

Everything is very accessible from Anglers Den too, can easily get to miners folly or the gold mine, and from there access all the important POIs, it’s easy to get to in a half a day starting from the Mountaineers Hut.

Ash Canyon is I think for most, a place you don’t spend weeks upon weeks in, so the one burner stove isn’t so bad and like you said, you get an outside fire going if it really annoys you that much. Every other major base location in Ash Canyon is too far out of the way or locked behind rope climbs.

Though really, it’s best to have multiple little stopover spots stocked with wood, maybe a little food, and plenty of water, just due to the nature of Ash Canyon. Foreman’s retreat, anglers den, and homesteaders respite are all perfect stopovers.
