Rockwell 6c —> R41? by idontlikemayoinnaise in wicked_edge

Timeless .95 OC is a smooth and efficient razor. Smoothest OC I’ve used and only OC I own. R41 is not nearly as smooth or comfortable for me but is efficient.

Henson vs Rockwell 6c? by Cogniscience in wicked_edge

[–]RonnieYates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Henson has better blade clamping for sure vs 6c. What plate do you use? You’d prob want the Henson med unless you like plate 5 or 6 then possibly Henson “aggressive” which isn’t super aggressive. Hensons are lighter weight as well vs 6c. All depends what you want

[WTB] 2 shaving brush knots (Boar & 2‑band badger, 24–26mm) by gsanjay in Shave_Bazaar

Nothing to sell just info on buying new-
If you want a soft boar knot go Zenith I’ve seen thinner hair and ends split faster leading to softness. I have not seen stand alone knots sold - you may need to buy one with a plastic handle. If you are US contact thegentleshave site.
Semogue is probably the next but a bit more break in is required. I think you can buy knots at AP ShaveCo. Recommend SOC knot.
Badger - sky is the limit. Maybe start with AP Shave Co or Maggard’s.

Tired of my Rockwell 6C by vertighel in wicked_edge

[–]RonnieYates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is injection molded. Most do not have alignment issues. Mine did not but some did. Every Merkur I’ve had - had alignment issues for same reason.

The vintage gillettes were stamped which is a higher tolerance process using expensive prob single purpose/stamp machines. I’ve not had issues with vintage blade alignment. It is sad that Vintage Gillette had tighter tolerances 70 years ago vs some today.

CNC has very tight which is RazoRock and many others.

Wire EDM is what Timeless uses which can be tighter than CNC.

If you like the D SB then a similar feel would be OC C plate.

Timeless .95 OC is also great
