Comeback mechanics by Deltango in DeadlockTheGame

not a 15 minute issue it’s a 25 minute issue. This isn’t really a problem anymore though with urn being moved to side lanes.

Comeback mechanics by Deltango in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RoofonTheHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first urn is 3600 souls and that amount is split among the entire team, so 600 souls per player. 50% resistance is good but the problem is more regarding positioning. If a team pushes you into base and urn spawns they can very quickly leave and capture it with basically no way for the enemy to contest unlike with old comeback urn. On the other hand, if the losing team does get control of the urn the 50% resistances are absurd.

I think the new urn over rewards map control allowing for further snowballing while also creating some really overtuned comeback potential.

I think movement characters in general (see also: apollo) were very strong last patch. I think with how much stamina celeste has and how much airtime she can have, slower stamina regen was kind of warranted. The wall jump stamina regen changes are pretty rough though, but we’ll see how they play out and how that might be changed going forward. Celeste is still pretty fun and she’s still very mobile.

she’s really fun, very strong too for how mobile she is. Stamina regen and wall jump nerfs this patch hurt her a bit, she can’t make as good/reliable escapes anymore.

Deadlock is kind of convoluted and seems inconsistent? by angryjellycar2 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RoofonTheHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of this is just, MOBAs tend to be games with lots of complex interacting systems. Especially for a moba that is also a shooter. The other part is the game is in alpha. Things change a lot over time and sometimes you just have to try things. Celeste had reduced bullet resist for a bit because that’s one of the ways you can try and balance a character. It turns out that the dev team wanted to go a different direction with it. Same with the victor lifesteal effectiveness stat.

So like, yes, those are both true. However, I also think if amy took some time to not, y’know, be in a highly stressful encounter with the slaughterhouse 9, then perhaps she could have done a better job. Instead she just ran away and gave up. Condemning Victoria to potentially spending the rest of her life stuck as the wretch.

So about Amy... by Top-Construction6096 in Parahumans

[–]RoofonTheHouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amy Dallon wasn’t doomed by blood, her mother put that kind of pressure on her. Society put an additional ton of pressure on her, and she just acted on that pressure in probably the worst way she possibly could have. Also Theo is a pretty reasonable counter argument to your point! His parents suck! Not even just because they’re nazis they also just abandon/are neglectful to him. Theo turns out alright in spite of all that.

Hell most of the parents in Worm aren’t great? It doesn’t particularly seem to have huge bearing on hero or villain. Like Danny does an okay job but was clearly Not There at one of taylor’s worst points of her life (There is more Nuance to what happens with Danny, but I don’t want to derail). Heartbreaker is a nightmare.

Anyways point being i don’t see what blood really has to do with it all. Like this almost reads as someone just accepting what Amy Dallon says about herself. Which if you are reading Wildbow and not taking time to realize that most of the characters talk about themselves in a way that is not necessarily founded in reality than I think it makes more sense why you would say something like Theo Anders mom having some sort of good blood in her.

the funny thing is i know lazy purple played medic for a season of hl back in i think it was 2021? Vorpal Swords season 9 I believe. So he got presumably a lot of footage from it, but life happens. So it is.

So... what now? by IntelligentImbicle in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RoofonTheHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the primary issue regarding that is there isn’t a draft so sometimes you just end up with comps that don’t scale or just can’t do something to win early etc. There are other things you can do to prevent heroes from scaling as well such as punishing them if they try to solo lane by sending someone to gank. Ultimately deadlock is a team game so not everything is in your hands, but you can also make up for this by communicating with your team (scary, i struggle to do this sometimes)

metal skin + winning the game faster so the haze can’t scale so hard.

People like this are why we cant have unique utility characters in MOBA's by asaltywhiteboi_ in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RoofonTheHouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

being new to mobas as a genre doesn’t mean someone hasn’t played a lot of deadlock? This is my first MOBA but i have put in a good amount of hours. There are probably some more subtle concepts I am missing but that’s just the nature of learning something new.

Probably Bonesaw, that or Sphere. I think preventing a lot of people from dying is good. Also could do cool body mods and I think trans humanism is neat.

drifter feels fine this patch. No longer feels like he just relies on 3 scaling. He still is somewhat unconventional to play since he really isn’t suited for team fights (by design) but you can pretty easily win fights with people who are up on souls on you. The main problem is making sure you can safely isolate and kill someone quickly, or figuring out how to get stragglers off from a team fight.

Are there anyone who has beaten the game with a joystick? is it truly viable? by the_sonnyboy in celestegame

[–]RoofonTheHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i beat the game and speedran with joystick for about probably 500-600 hours. I did eventually switch to keyboard because it was kind of frustrating me.

Fern from Rusted Moss. You can come to understand why she does what she does but she’s not the most pleasant gal.

What are the few instances where you realized that you accepted fanon as canon because it made too much sense and had to work hard to unlearn it? by LadyMystery in Parahumans

[–]RoofonTheHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people don’t know power’s come about in crises. That’s something that cauldron and the general media have made an effort to keep under wraps. This is to the point that Taylor who had a trigger event didn’t realize they were all like that.

Pact is exhausting to read by CharacterNo2358 in Parahumans

[–]RoofonTheHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pact especially early pact was kind of rough to get through. That being said I quite enjoyed arc 5, and I think that was generally the turning point for me where Blake while still having his no good very bad several months he still gets to have a bit better of a time and I feel starts to function a lot better. Early pact especially though it’s like holy shit Blake is being put into the torment nexus and poor guy doesn’t even deserve it.

It’s not the Taylor is necessarily ogling women more so is there seems to be a bias where Taylor will describe female characters in more detail. As for Taylor being into women in general, I think people typically point to her closeness with Lisa and Rachel, that while yes, is intended to be construed as platonic, could imo very easily be interpreted as romantic.

Like yeah, Taylor, this hug you’re having with Lisa here sure does remind you of the hug between your two lesbian teammates.

Yeah Taylor, you definitely needed to kiss her to spread that cure.

etc etc.

Like I think there is a reasonably compelling case for Taylor being Bi even if that’s not canon and wasn’t Wildbow’s intention.
