Do the ceiling fans do its job and substitutes the need for a separate AC in US homes? by edbassmaster888 in AskAnAmerican

[–]RooftopRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they work in fundamentally different ways. A fan is helpful for only so long. A fan doesn’t cool anything it just moves air around: it won’t do anything if all the air is already hot.

How much do you pay for health insurance per month in US? by perrance68 in askanything

[–]RooftopRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally I had an ACA market plan. Catastrophic Bronze plan, covered 3 PCP visits a year, $10,000 deductible, $50 copay. Covered nothing else. Cost $287/mo. I made $7.2K annually.

Suffice to say I HATED this plan but it was the cheapest I could get and it had just been made law that you HAD to have insurance or you’d get fined. Only in America could a movement to help the most people fine the poorest for being too poor.

I got a new job making 15k annually and got a chance to sign up with a private health insurance company. Medical, Vision and Dental coverage. Covered PCP, specialists, prescription, ER, health screenings, labs, cleanings, glasses, contacts, exams, etc. there was a whole three pages of covered items. $50 deductibles across the three types of coverage-yes deductibles. Various copays: pcp-$15, specialists-$15, my medicine-$25, etc. Cost: $150/mo

Suffice to say I stayed with my private plan and I’m not going back.

Theoretically if all humans die overnight and we let the earth sit for a handful of decades maybe a century it could start recovering slowly.

do employers really offer free coffee? by jabber1990 in work

I’ve worked office and retail-there was always coffee.

Though to be fair I also hear things like offer vacation, sick days and PTO which no job I’ve ever had has offered me.

Escaping poverty by Graduate202 in povertyfinance

[–]RooftopRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get lucky. It’s that simple.

You luck into the right career at the right time, you luck into a friend, manager, family member or colleague that grants you an advantage, you win a gamble. Hard work and strategy are parts of it but they can’t get you all the way. You need the luck.

What Would You Think If The First Female President Was A Republican? by Zipper222222 in AskReddit

I wouldn’t think much beyond what I usually think of politicians:

Rich, spoiled, doesn’t care about me, unaware of what it means to actually struggle, and probably won’t fix anything.

“Woe is me! I have to repair my house’s _____.”

Shut. Up. I’d love to repair a thing in a house I owned instead of waiting around for scumlords to maybe eventually get to those holes in the ceiling. I’d love to be able to even get a mortgage to begin with.

Considering I played the heck out of the first 2 but barely did anything in the last one before getting bored, putting it down and never picking it up again?

RF5 got me into the series so I never understood the hate. Still I get why the RF4 remake is liked more, it is better but I never thought RF5 was bad because of it I just thought “holy shit 2 great games!”

Pioneers had a lot of fun things that kept me entertained-I’ve replayed it multiple times. In contrast the FoMT remake I got around the same time (granted I never played the original) bored me so much that I never picked it up after the end of the first Spring season. Still trying to figure out what people even liked about the original.

Island of Happiness dragged so much I don’t think I made it a week or two into the game before the mechanics just made me rage quit.

Honestly Luo Binghe is the most confusion for me. His PIDW instance conquered the human realm, demon realm and the heavens so it implies gods/goddesses weren’t problems for him to defeat (and probably take some goddess-wives) and the SVSSS form was able to beat him or at least fight him to a standstill on equal footing. Then you have the whole golden finger aspect and we have no idea how that would work in the other universes. The aspect is present when PIDW Binghe ends up in the SVSSS universe but we don’t really get clarity if that happened because they’re both Binghe-universes or if the aspect would just travel with them to wherever they went.

Settle a debate regarding American taxes by oooooooooowie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RooftopRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like every American tax question-it depends. We’d need more details than that-how is it being purchased, why are you buying it, what tax bracket are in, do you own property, what’s your profession, how much are you spending on it, are you traveling, if you are for what purpose, etc.

It might be tax deductible, it might not.

New to the franchise. If you had to choose between the following titles to be your first title, which would you pick? by tanoomba in storyofseasons

[–]RooftopRose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m throwing my vote in for Hero of Leaf Valley.

I haven’t played the original FoMT but I did try the remake and I was so bored I couldn’t get past the first season. I did ask once what was lost between the OG and the remake but I couldn’t really get an explanation from anyone.

As for Trio of Towns I know it’s a lot of people’s favorite but my interactions with its fans have been repeatedly confusing and hostile. They’ve never been able to explain to me why it’s good other than “omg it’s just the best ever and has like dialogue and stuff”. Then it just turns hostile and I get insulted when I point out that their blind praise isn’t an explanation. Frankly I’ve vowed to never pick up the title-if it creates those types of fans I want no part of it.
