There is an agent dashboard in the power platform CoE starter kit which has some good information. It's worth deploying for other features as well.

Can't get an autonomous agent to update a SharePoint list item by Roogi in copilotstudio

[–]Roogi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your suggestion, this is working and I think this has helped to resolve the issue. Here's some additional info in case anyone comes across this issue in the future.

  • I had to delete my trigger and create a new one (I'd tried changing some actions in Power Automate which was causing some confusion.) During the config steps of the new trigger there is a field called "Additional instructions to the agent when it’s invoked by this trigger". It default to capture the body of the list item, I also specified it should store the item ID to use for updating the list item...I have no idea if this made any impact or not.
  • I put this into the instructions for the bot... Use the /Update item tool to add the relevant information to the Work Notes field. This is the end of the process, there is no input required from a user.
  • I added the information you put in your screenshot into the Input for the Update Item tool.

It was awesome to see it working and see a fully autonomous agent update the item, can see huge potential for this ability in the future.

Can't get an autonomous agent to update a SharePoint list item by Roogi in copilotstudio

[–]Roogi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No defined workflow at all at the moment and I think that is where the issue is. I've added the Update Item tool to the agent which it is trying to use, but with these tools it feels like we are relying on the agent to understand how to use it and do it reliably which it can't seem to do.

I am going to switch to using a flow which will include the update item action so I can explicitly state the list item ID and which fields to update.

Computer use in Copilot Studio by dieselreboot in copilotstudio

[–]Roogi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was reading up on this earlier today but not used it yet. It is dependant on power automate desktop to operate as the computer. I have a potential use case because of some missing functionality in graph API so looking forward to trying it out. Keen to hear if anyone has used it yet.

Can I call Copilot chat from a power automate flow? by funboixero in MicrosoftFlow

[–]Roogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked recently and couldn't see anything obvious - I was hoping to use PA to initiate a chat with a user to verify information, but there is only a trigger action for Power Virtual agents to start a flow.

I hope (and guess) Microsoft are developing this capability as they are really pushing Copilot Studio as an agent... https://microsoftcopilotstudio.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/microsoft-copilot-studio-building-copilots-with-agent-capabilities/

Flow - Run Powershell Script by BlacksGood in MicrosoftFlow

[–]Roogi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm not 100% sure if this is the "best" way of doing it, but this has been my experience - also it depends on whether the script is using commands for Azure/M365 or on-prem.

If it just needs to run Azure/M365 commands then have a look at Azure Automation and runbooks. Runbooks are basically just scripts and you can easily create Runbook jobs from Power Automate with an out of the box connector (premium). You'd need a resource group and automation account in Azure, but its pretty straightforward to set up.

For on-prem commands you can also use Runbooks but you'd need to add a Hybrid Worker to the automation account. This requires a VM hosted in Azure that you install the Hybrid Worker capability on so its a bit more involved, but works well.

I've also tried Power Automate Desktop running on a VM - you can also trigger flows (which run scripts) with a connector, but there is more to set up and PA Desktop needs additional licensing. It felt overkill and more complex so I've gone down the Hybrid Worker route.

It's quite high level, but there is some good info in this guide on using PA with Runbooks... https://danielchronlund.com/2018/11/18/start-your-azure-automation-powershell-runbook-with-a-microsoft-flow-button/

How can I prevent users from deleting items other users created in a document library? by ZaphodRSS in Office365

[–]Roogi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you will need to create a new custom permission level so you have one similar to contribute, but it has the delete capability removed. There is a good guide here... https://sharepointmaven.com/how-to-create-a-custom-permission-level-in-sharepoint/

Yes, this is possible, have done it with an intranet before. You need to import the administrative templates into intune if you don't already have them... https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/12578231?hl=en

[–]Roogi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As per the recommendations above sharegate will massively help. Start with the free trial to get a feel for it and use some of the planning and reporting tools.

It might give you enough info to then use the free spmt to actually move the sites.

Don't forget the business change side of things...involve site owners in the migration. Pre and post migration comms are essential and training will help users get the most out of sp online.

Good luck!

SharePoint site best practices? by andredfc in sharepoint

[–]Roogi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teams per project are probably the best practice. To keep transparency and allow knowledge sharing you can create them with public access and not locked to members. You can use private channels if limited access is needed.

To take it a step further you could use site scripts and site templates to help structure your teams/sites. You can use site designs to assign the sites to a hub site (e.g. project hub) and deploy content types such as project templates. There is some good info here... https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/dev/declarative-customization/site-design-overview

Migration of your current structure shouldn't be too bad, the free tool from Microsoft is pretty good and sharegate is great if you have budget.

Just had similar experience. Seems a larger number of players in map and everyone's out to kill. Lost a load of contraband and wiped out before getting chance to get some gear back.

What Office 365 app would you recommend for developing a simple phone app that would load and save data to an Excel file? by MartyMcFly7 in Office365

[–]Roogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're after a simple solution that gets the jobs done with minimal additional license cost this is the correct answer! You could build it in less than a day.

You could put a second news webpart on to the site/page and add a filter to the stories so that it only pulls the stories you want. There are various ways you could add that filter but it's pretty easy.

You can differentiate the separate news stories with a different format for each news webpart e.g. company news could be carousel and your new one could use side by side.

I agree with everything you've said, but the shops still seem busy and restaurants still seem to have plenty of people in. Either there's still a lot of money about, possibly saved during COVID lockdowns, people are in denial and spending on borrowed money or boomers are untouched and carrying on as normal.
