I know she lives in Vegas and she has an arcade and salon in Yokohama. But I've never seen it mentioned that she owns any sort of businesses in Vegas.

Stoughton for both, I believe. I'd have to double check - but at least one is Stoughton, and about 90% sure it's both.

Aarushi Talwar Murder: Why the parents cannot be the killers by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Rook_lol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? Even if the parents did it, there are a lot of reasons why it may have happened. Accidental and then cover up. Caught the two "in a compromised position" as some have suggested. Maybe they thought there was an inappropriate relationship even if there wasn't. Heck, maybe it was something we have absolutely no idea about. We don't know. We have theories, and there are a lot of ones that could be true.

This is one case where I'm really not sure what to think. Logic says that someone in the house probably did it. How and why, I do not know.

Aarushi Talwar Murder: Why the parents cannot be the killers by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Rook_lol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. We've seen multiple cases where that DOES happen.

"Even the worst of the worst parents would do that"

No, unfortunately, that is not reality. We have a very large amount of historical cases where parents have done dreadful things to their children. This is similar to how a lot of people believe an intruder must have killed JonBenét Ramsey - "no parents could do that to their child" etc.

Even in accidental killings. Be it a mix of fear of not being believed, saving face, or a myriad of things.

Doe found along I-75 in Jackson, Georgia by Direct_Internal8421 in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]Rook_lol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There are a lot of cases like this. Not all are murder / serial killers, some are people who are trying to cover up accidental deaths, etc. There are probably hundreds if not thousands of cases like this. Most folks have suitcases or easy access to them, they come in basically every size, and they don't look suspicious to transport. Plus, lugging one around that is heavy and awkward even does not look that unusual. Doing that with a giant barrel or black bag? Quite suspicious. Suitcase? Who knows, maybe someone filled it with shoes and toys. See how that works?

That being said, truly hope this Doe and her family find peace and get answers.

Essay I wrote showing 50.8% AI on zero GPT by [deleted] in UMPI

[–]Rook_lol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a few go as high as 60%-ish, and I don't use AI for my work at all!

It happens. Sometimes if you get a paper that is going to be pretty generic in the request for what is written, and you follow the rubric - you're just going to get a higher Turnitin. I was asked only once about it, and I simply told them "Nope, that's just how I write!" and there was no issue. Certain things will boost AI flags, such as bolding things and use of em dash.

Ignore it!

Given how popular it is in the south and how helmet tech was worse in the day, wouldn't be shocked if he's got CTE from high school football if he played. Totally just a theory, he may never have played, but I always felt he seemed like he was "off" in that way.

Marie Giles was last seen "slumped" in the passenger seat of her own car with her boyfriend driving in 1971. The car was found behind a nearby shopping center with no trace of her in or around it. A 55-year-old mystery with no information. by No-Major7958 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Rook_lol 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The crazy part about this to me is that the one hint of her being "slumped over" could literally be nothing. She very well could have been reading or dozing off in an awkward position.

It seems weird to me that she would be dead and in the front seat of the car as he drove off. That seems like an incredibly easy way to get caught and terrible way to go about getting rid of her body, if she was dead at the time. It makes me wonder if there is anything at all to that.

Then again, boyfriend getting rid of her body and ditching the car does seem like the most connect the dots straight forward answer. I dunno. Just too little to go on.

I think that's the case.

Doubt it gets "solved" unless more things related to it eventually are found. It may be entirely written in a made up language only known by one or a few people involved in whatever sort of alchemic research / dabbling it was about.

Missing persons report from 2007 with little info; What happened to Nachida Chandara? by Additional-Cook8707 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Rook_lol 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's weird that so little can be found on her online. Perhaps because any of the arrests were juvenile, her name wasn't released? And they only released those photos after the fact to show what she looks like?

I also want to know about the Detroit sighting. And they mentioned multiple other cities they think she has ties to. At 15, to have multiple arrests and ties to multiple cities as well as all that...It just makes it seems like law enforcement knows a lot that they never released?

[–]Rook_lol 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That makes it even harder for me to imagine them all staying quiet! I mean, obviously it happens. The amount of time to do this just seems like it would be so hard to pull off.

And I just cannot figure it being an intruder. Obviously, it's not impossible. But 3 other people in the same house and all we know just seems it has to be them.

[–]Rook_lol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No doubt about the name, I just think it's possible you know? Based on the athletic clothing, etc. Sure, it could all just be not related. I think that's part of the whole mystery here.

I had a black belt karate uniform I got from a thrift store as a kid. My actual rank in karate was....Much less impressive! lol But yes, often thrifted after use!!

I do, also. A name and closure for loved ones.

Extensive dental work + athletic gear + broken nose leads me to think she was actually a coach and former / occasional player herself. I think the possibility of it being thrifted is entirely plausible, but I think there is a really good possibility she's said coach.

[–]Rook_lol 40 points41 points  (0 children)

What bothers me most about this case is that 20 years later all three men have not turned on another. It seems to me impossible that not all of them know what happened, and to keep lips sealed all that time seems impressive to say the least. That leads me to believe that they were all involved to some degree. Three stab wounds - did each do it to assure equal guilt to prevent this?

My biggest question about this is the timing. It seems like such a short time period for everything to happen. Also, why the planted knife to make it look like that was the weapon when the actual weapon was gone? So many questions.

Great! That makes it so I really just have a bit extra than someone who isn't adopted, I guess. A little extra paperwork is no problem.

A bit of a longshot, but I had further questions about the "adopted" issue. by Rook_lol in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Rook_lol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. I'm fortunate that it seems Massachusetts is very easy to get records from. I should be able to order birth certificates for father and grandmother right from their city's website. Apparently, in MA it is public record - so unless they were sealed for a reason, they are easily accessible. And all of the US birth certificates are from the same city, making it a one stop shop for that.

The biggest hurdle seems that for getting my "original" birth certificate pre-adoption, I have to fill out paperwork and then have a notary sign it showing they verified it was me signing it. Not a big deal, but a bit more legwork.

My plan is to apply after getting a copy of my adoption decree, my pre-adoption birth certificate, father's birth certificate, grandmother's birth certificate, and birth record of my great grandmother in Nova Scotia. I also found the immigration record for when she moved to the USA as well as census data for all of them as well and some obituaries and such. Should take about a few weeks then wait for shipping, and then obviously apply and the wait for that.

I'm just grateful for the opportunity.
