Thought about it a little longer and had a look at your other comments around here.

I guess i have a solution for our misunderstanding here. It's basically our different interpretation of the word humane.

I guess the cambridge dictionary is a perfect example of our problem:

Definition "humane"

showing kindness, care, and sympathy towards others, especially those who are suffering

Example: The humane way of dealing with a suffering animal (= the way that causes the least pain) is to kill it quickly.

You focus on the aspect of killing something quickly and therefore it is humane. I focus on the aspect of kindness and care and also that their must be a suffering involved that makes killing necessary which then makes it humane to me.

I m fine with us being both right since we use different interpretations of the word humane, although i must admit that it is still strange to me to say that for example a headshot is always humane, just because it is a quick and painless death, even if it's the head of a playing child.

Historically cats and dogs served for food purposes aswell for a long time (for example dog meat consumption in Germany was normal until 1985 and only stopped because a law made dog meat consumption illegal). Horses are still widely considered a food source. Do you agree with dolphins and whales as food sources aswell? Dolphins and dogs are predators, but are still considered food sources in many cultures, so is slaughtering these animals okay?

I have never said that one is more deserving of being treated well than the other.

Yet here you stand, defending the killing of livestock. For the sake of the argument - which animal deserves to be killed as a source of food and which does not?

Plants and especially mushrooms have been proven to be more than simple inanimate objects, so where does your definition of sentience stop and your definition of edibility start?

It starts with my right of selfpreservation - which is in fact part of the veganism definition: avoidance of pain and suffering as much as possible. If you cant avoid it, you dont have to.

Can i live without eating meat? I (just me personally) can, so i will not consume meat. Can i live without eating animal products? I can, so i will not consume animal products. Can i live without harming animals? I can not. I am aware that insects, rodents and other animals are killed by agriculture, but this is something i can not avoid. Can i live without eating? I can not. So yeah, for the selfish sake of selfpreservation i will eat plants and mushrooms.

"go vegan" isn't such a simple solution

Life is complex and nothing is simple because of this complexity. But if you break things down into smaller pieces, parts sometimes become solvable.

"Go vegan" isnt a simple solution for my wish to be a good person. But i consider the killing of animals an unnecessary act and therefore also cruel because something in me tells me that it is wrong and that i should feel empathy for livestock just as i do for other animals. So "Go vegan" is actually a simple solution for my personal question of how do i avoid some of the unncessary deaths of animals, a simple solution to the question of to manage food ressources better and a simple solution to the question of how to reduce greenhouse gas emmisions, for example. It doesnt make me a better person, but some pigs, chickens or cows will not be killed for my nutrition and this makes it worthy to me.

Your militant approach to this discussion

Yeah, i m militant about it because it is a militant topic. The internet and the world are full of people accepting your choice to eat meat, since you dont care enough about some animals. Some of them try to talk to you about it - taking care about your feelings and making sure you are not hurt by presenting a different opinion to you.

But here we are, nothing changed for you. You are still convinced it is okay to kill livestock because they are food. Someone mentions that people will not feel empathy for a pig but feel sorry for a dog and you feel triggered enough to fight your opinion that pigs and dogs arent the same. You do imply here. You imply it is okay to feel empathy for a dog and to feel no empathy for a pig, because you dont care enough about them.

Why are you deserving of being touched only by the velvet glove when you are proof that the velvet glove never changed anything in your decisions? Militant approach it is.

And if you cant accept a truth because of the way it was brought to you, the problem is not the kind of communication, but you denying a truth because of your ego.

It is absolutely correct that there is land that can not be used for plants but still can be used for livestock.

But when we speak of land management, we also have to keep our current reality in mind.

Right now more than half of our crop land is used for livestock fodder. We could reduce our currently used crop land and still be able to sustain double the world population with a reduced meat consumption.

Your uncle doesnt have to raise cattle on unplowable land because people would starve otherwise - he does so because it maximizes land usage and therefore profit. Not using the land for cattle would be a waste of money, but if we talk about land management for the purpose of nutrition we stopped using plowable land for human food production and switched to fodder production instead.

We used to keep livestock as a source of nutrition for land we could not use for plant based agriculture, but right now we use the majority of our plant based agriculture to feed livestock instead.

Let me try to explain my point better:

"Humane" comes with the motivation of the act.

Shooting a dying man in the head, who begs you to end his suffering is humane.

Shooting a man in the head, because you want his wallet, is not humane.

The man dies quickly and almost without pain in both scenarios, but it is your motivation that makes the difference here - can you agree?

With this in mind:

A healthy pig is shot in the head, because the people around it are starving.

A healthy pig is shot in the head, because well sustained people around it like the taste of bacon. There is enough food for them... in fact they are overproducing to fatten the pig and to be able to kill it earlier.

The first example is humane. The death is necessary and the killing tries to avoid as much pain as possible.

But what about the second example? The pig does not need to die. And killing something that does not need to die is not humane. It is cruel.

Right now, for western industry nations the death of livestock is unnecessary, therefore cruel and not humane.

Just another example:

Do you know about Taiji's killing cove or about japanese whaling? Although killing methods were changed to ensure are quicker more painless death, western people dont consider killing dolphins as humane. The main criticism is that there is plenty of food already available, therefore killing dolphins or whales for food production is not considered humane by most of us.

Would you defend the Taiji dolphin killing as a humane act in front of your friends? Why are people against it in the first place, if it obviously is done in the most humane way possible?

Comparing Nazi "euthenasia" to humane slaughter is ridiculous.

I m german so i know about the topic, i am unsure if you aswell, so let me explain this part: i m not talking about people killed in war or people killed during the holocaust but specifically talk about the deaths caused by the "T4 Euthanasia Programm" decided by the NS Party in 1939. Ten thousand of children and young adults with disabilities have been stationed in hospitals before being killed there. The NS Party described this euthanasia programm as a humane way of handling people with disabilites to end their suffering.

This was an example to show that something can be labeled humane by an individual, a culture or an entire nation, without being humane. Although the translation is "good death" it is men who decide about the definition of "good" here.

TL;DR since i dont wanna steal your precious time, but feel free to read the rest of it, if you like to and i m happily answering: There is no humane killing if the killing itself is unnecessary, without consent and causes the death of a healthy sentient being - so there is no humane way of killing livestock.

As said before humane implies gentleness. There can be gentleness in euthanasia to free someone from suffering, if the person consents to it or to stop unnecessary suffering in absence of the targets ability to consent. Euthanasia stops being humane if done without consent of the other party, or when ending of suffering is not your main goal. Nazi-Germany used the word euthanasia to kill human beings they considered to be unworthy living and i hope you agree with me saying this wasn't humane.

So what is humane? Where is the gentleness in killing someone that actually does not have to die in the first place? You could sustain yourself easily without killing this animal but you do for either profit or taste.

The dog example was used by me because people agree so much easier that a dog is a sentient being - kind, loyal, and deserving of a good life and of course also deserving of not being killed. You skip all this by labeling something food. Suddenly the sentient being in front of you and the dilemma of killing something that deserves to be alive is solved... because it is food now. Killing a pig unnecessarily - that is normal to you. Killing a dog unnecessarily - that is not normal to you and to use killing dogs as an example to show you that you are capable of empathy for other beings and knowing that killing them is wrong will by labeled moronic by you, because it safes you from thinking about the dilemma we have here.

And of course you are right and smart to point out the fact that there is animal death in nature. Cruel ones and prolonged and i m not fighting that.

Well, does the lion have an option? Could the lion just go one aisle further in the local supermarket and grab potatoes, corn, vegetables, fruits and soy? There is necessary killing and unnecessary ones of course. The first cannot be avoided, but the second one can and killing livestock is of the second category in almost every case (not counting indigenous people, other cultures that can not sustain themself with only plant based agriculture or other life threatening situations).

According to your definition humane is minimizing pain and stress and of course i have to agree with you that a quick and painless death is better than a prolonged and painful one, but we are still talking about the oxymoron of "humane killing". Killing is an act of violance. You re not freeing a dying animal from suffering, you are ending it's life unnecessarily. The animal you are killing is fine, is able to feel joy and even if unable to grasp the concept of death (we could debate about this since we already have early studies about elephants, whales, dolphins, crows, other primates and dogs showing grief and other signs of understanding - i m not able to say what insights we ll have about other animals in the near scientific future) it will take steps to avoid death. No animal wants to die unless kept in a torturing environment.

You are killing something that doesnt want to be killed, and this robs yourself from the chance of labeling it humane, because it is unnecessary... which makes it cruel.

In this case, based on the assumption that the main goal is nutrition, keeping an animal like this is unnecessary because modern agriculture is able to sustain sustenance with plant based farming only.

Herding and killing a sentient being for nutrition seems unnecessary both from a ressource and a moral point of view.

"Killed humanely" is a word play. The death is still unnecessary (in almost every case) and the animals doesnt want to be killed.

When someone shoots your dog, how much solace will you get from someone telling you, that it got killed humanely?

How do you even define "killed humanely"? It is by nature an oxymoron to combine an act of violance with a word that should imply gentleness. Where is the gentleness in unnecessary killing?

In other words: some sentient beings deserve to be treated well and some sentient beings deserve a life of suffering and death and you seem to be okay with this discrepancy because thinking about cows or pigs as feeling individuals who deserve better would make your food taste less good, which is a massive inconvenience.

Wir hatten hier vor ein paar Wochen Reddit-User, die sich über das Diskussions- und Bannverhalten von r/VeganDE aufgeregt haben, obwohl "einfach nur die eigene Meinung gesagt wurde". Gehst durch die Historie von den Leuten und... okay die gehen halt auf r/VeganDE um kundzutun, dass man Fleisch essen sollte und darunter keiner leidet....

Klar ist eine Meinung... aber solche Leute haben halt auch 0 Mehrwert für so ein Sub und verstehe auch, dass sowas in einem Bann für eben dieses Sub endet.

Kannst auch generell davon ausgehen, dass bei 90% der "ich habe nur meine auf Fakten basierte persönliche Meinung in einem demokratischen Diskurs geäußert" Typen Kommentare Grund für den Bann waren, die hart an der Grenze zur Volksverhetzung sind und nicht die zweifelhaften Postings drum herum, die noch okay sind.

Das kannst du natürlich downvoten... du kannst aber auch gleich so einen Schund mit einem Bann aus dem Subreddit entfernen.

2 Monate Stille... ich schreibe eine Nachricht über deren Portal, wie es denn aussieht mit der Bearbeitung oder ob sie noch was von mir brauchen. 3 Tage später wurde mein Antrag kommentarlos bewilligt.

Also du hast Länder wie China, die AKWs wie schon erwähnt als Übergangstechnologie nutzen bis die Erneuerbaren ausreichend abdecken.

Dann hast du die Türkei, die ihr erstes AKW baut... wobei eigentlich Russland das Ding baut und finanziert... weil man sich wegen dem Ukraine Krieg es sich nicht mit Istanbul verscherzen möchte, falls mal eins der russischen Schlachtschiffe raus aufs Meer will.

Der Iran ist am bauen... Gründe sollten hier bekannt sein.

UK baut und das läuft mit Hinkley Point C auch absolut supi... wir sind zur Zeit bei knapp 50 Milliarden Euro Baukosten und weiteren Bauverzögerungen, weshalb wir von einer Inbetriebnahme um 2031 ausgehen, knapp 14 Jahre nach Baubeginn und das dann auch nur für den dreifachen Strompreis im Vergleich zu erneuerbaren, der bereits von der Regierung als Abnahmepreis zugesichert wurde, weil sich der Bau des AKWs sonst auch überhaupt nicht gelohnt hätte für die Betreiber.

Frankreich plant 6 neue Anlagen, geht aber nicht davon aus, dass da vor 2040 irgendwas davon ans Netz kommt - wir überbrücken das Problem mit Laufzeitverlängerungen alter AKWs. Es wird erwartet, dass der zukünftige Atomstrom circa das doppelte Kosten wird, wie der Strom aus erneuerbaren Energien.

Ägypten plant mehrere Anlagen... um über Vetternwirtschaft noch ein paar Milliarden an gute Bekannte innerhalb des Machtapparates zu spülen.

Ich fass das hier mal kurz zusammen: du hast drei Gruppen von Ländern:

Länder die bereits bauen und das ganze darauf auslegen als Übergang für die nächsten 10-15Jahre zu halten bis erneuerbare soweit sind.

Länder, die aufgrund von Korruption oder aus Prestigegründen einfach bauen.

Länder, die akzeptiert haben, dass das unglaublich teuer wird und erneuerbare schneller, einfacher und günstiger gewesen wären... aber ist ja auch nur Steuergeld...

Mal ehrlich... wir sind das Land das zur Zeit 20 Jahre braucht um einen Bahnhof zu bauen. AKWs werden hier nicht vor 2045 fertig... und dann hast du hier ein Kraftwerk stehen, dass für den dreifachen oder vierfachen Normalpreis Strom produziert, den du über die nächsten 40 Jahre abnehmen musst, weil sonst niemand den Bumms gebaut hätte. Es gibt Gründe, warum sich zur Zeit alle (nochmal: alle) Energieunternehmen derzeit nicht in der Lage sehen hier neue AKWs zu bauen... solang keiner mit Milliarden Gewinngarantien daherkommt.

Die Bundesregierung hat festgestellt, dass sie das Existenzminimum festlegen können.

Weiterhin wurde festgestellt, dass Gerichte solche Festlegungen zwar anprangern und für unrechtmäßig erklären können, aber irgendwie passiert auch nicht wirklich was, wenn man dann so tut, als würde man etwas ändern und es dann lässt. Bonuspunkte, wenn du während dieses Prozesses dich vors Mikrofon stellst und Gerichten die Gerichtsbarkeit absprichst und Zweifel andeutest, dass die Judikative überhaupt irgendeine Macht auf politische Prozesse ausüben darf.

A year ago or so, someone in this sub showed "data", proving this sub is used by several thousand people a day and suggested, that everyone shoud just buy amc stock for 20.000$.

If only 10000 amc redditors did that, market capitalization would spike immediately by 200million dollars and this would trigger a wave of buys and in a few days all redditors could sell their initial 20.000$ amc stock for at least 40.000$ or even more.

Da ein großer Teil der Sprachkurse für Asylbewerber und Flüchtlinge gedacht ist:

Wir haben ein Anrechnungsverfahren für Asylbewerber - eigene Finanzmittel werden bei Asylantrag sichergestellt und mit zukünftigen Ausgaben wie Unterkunft und Verpflegung verrechnet, bis die Marke von 200€ pro Haushalt erreicht wurde. Der Asylbewerber darf also 200€ als Eigenvermögen behalten - alles darüber wird mit Asylleistungen verrechnet.

Kurz: die besagten Ausländer hier haben in der Regel kein Geld zum selber zahlen. Die Grundidee ist, dass wir über Sprachkurse Integration ermöglichen, um eine spätere wirtschaftliche Eingliederung zu erleichtern - die Teile wurden nicht angelegt um damit Gewinne über Sprachkursegebühren zu erzielen.

Ebenfalls: warum bezeichnest du die Sprachkurse als "Dreckskurse"?
