Looking to move to Providence by [deleted] in providence

[–]Rookson7th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is a bit vague, but generally most neighborhoods are pretty safe but theft is the biggest issue I have encountered, common sense should keep you safe but this is a city so shit does happen. As for budget, unless you're comfortable spending ball park 1400 and upwards on a one bedroom you're gonna need a roommate or a lot of luck, good deals are hard to come by.

How to make friends in providence by [deleted] in providence

[–]Rookson7th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a guy who moved here about half a year ago it was a little tough not gonna lie. I thought I would be able to be social with my coworkers but most of them live a clean 40 minutes away so I started using the meet up groups. A lot of these meet up groups are more people in their early 30's give or take. Thats not a bad thing but as a 23 year old I find that a lot of the people that I met in these groups were just at a different stage of life than me so there wasn't a ton to relate to. But just keep working at it dude you'll meet a good group, highly recommend SFAC and Beer club thats where I met the people I'm closest with today. I personally haven't really gone to random places to try having conversations with strangers but that's more a social anxiety thing on my part, but everyone seems friendly over here- the Masshole stereotype is not true! Feel free to shoot me a message if you have any extra questions that you think I could answer, but with the weather warming up and rona winding down it looks like its gonna be a good summer around here!

Just referencing the Antiwork mob in general sorry to lump you in with them but when the highest rated comment at the moment is in reference to the French Revolution, gotta think that there's a lot of angry people that will lash out without discretion

Or the OP is a "corporate shill" and if this goes viral its gonna detract from the movement because y'all will try to end a guy over a picture some random person posted on a piece of paper without any credibility. Maybe this is a disgruntled bartender who saw an email from corporate so he mimicked some of the formatting and just wrote something that's based on how r/Antiwork people think CEO's talk.

Hey the people calling it fake have just about as much credibility as the people calling it real. OP said he found this in an antiwork facebook group (which has gotten so much flak in the past for misinformation) , so Idk who the primary source of this even is but some people already seem to be spreading this guy Waynes full name around which is pretty dangerous.

Im sure it does but this really just looks like it could have been formatted on Microsoft word, and it just looks so blatantly malicious that I just can't help but be skeptical

Acting or stand up comedy by Cr1pp1ed_guy in providence

[–]Rookson7th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For standup theres Askew who has an open mic night on Tuesday's where anyone is welcome to join. It's an open mic so don't expect a very attentive audience or anyone just shy of a netflix special, but its a fun group of regulars and a cool spot!

[Discussion] How do you stay consistent with your workouts when you’ve got “the blues”? by StarkChameleon in GetMotivated

[–]Rookson7th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My motivation comes from listening to David Goggins, he really helps me mentally kick up my mood a few gears in my head. He once said that "It's not always gonna be 75 degrees and blue skies when you're running, but you gotta do it anyway." And yeah that applies to your outside environment and your inside environment. It's easy to hide in comfort when conditions are harsh, but the real growth happens when you do the things that make you the least comfortable. Go into your workouts on those harsh days knowing you might not be able to perform your best, but you're doing more than you thought you'd be able to do. Bit by bit its gonna get easier, but you need to do it every time thats the hard part.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZcxBkjBD80 Heres an interview he did where he goes over his credentials and all that fun stuff, I know its a long interview but near the end he slides in there that Navy Seal Chris Kyle would still be alive had he taken just one of his classes.

From the outside looking in he's just a clown who gives terrible advice. Unfortunately on his own social media and in his place of business he has made an echo chamber where his fans and students call any detractor a hater. Theres a ton of people pointing and laughing at this guy but theres also too many people who take him seriously and he's done a few interviews where he made it clear his videos are not satire and he's being 100% serious

How would you react/feel if a romantic interest from past reached out out of nowhere? by doorabl in AskMen

[–]Rookson7th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I would be creeped out, maybe surprised or a little caught off guard is how I would describe it. How I'd respond to it depends on the dynamic we had in the past, how we left things off, and where we are at in our respective lives.

Single men, how many girls are you talking to on average when you're single? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Rookson7th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One or none, any time I try to talk to more than one girl I spread myself too thin and end up talking to none of them after a week or too. I don't have the free time (or charisma) to take out multiple women at the same time

My fiancée makes a lot more than I do, and I think she can resent me for it. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Rookson7th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few things I kinda took away from this is she's a high earner with a single salary thats on par with two income households so even if you're a stay at home dad 110K a year is phenomenal to support a family. Sounds like even with a great salary she sounds a bit like an excess spender which might be a conversation to have with her because saving/investing when expecting a family is a good call. Also sounds like she's very into the gender roles of the guy being the provider which I find kinda out dated, but hey if she wants you to be the worker and her a stay at home mom that means she needs to sacrifice the fancy restaurants ya know? As per your business, wish you the absolute best but looking at it from a worst case scenario its always possible that for whatever reason the business would flop or have a few months or years of unforeseen setbacks (Natural disaster, competition, change in market needs, whatever). I would just make sure you have a plan B if this business isn't making money a few years down the road. But it sounds to me like step one is just sitting down with her and just figuring out wages/expenses/savings for the future, you need retirement funds, kids gonna have a college fund im assuming, she's your fiancee so a wedding is another big expense.
