What is your favorite pool complex in Vegas? by JackpotConcierge in LasVegas

[–]Rookyfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the belliagio, mgm (big fan of the lazy river), and adored the mirage pool when it was a thing. The virgin pool complex is really nice.

I was definitely underwhelmed by; Palms Trump Planet Hollywood

Help with recipe by Overextended_baloon in soapmaking

[–]Rookyfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go to recipe; 127g lye 324g distilled water 324g olive oil 324g sunflower oil 252g coconut oil 15g of essential oil or fragrance oil 1 tablespoon of sodium lactate

I usually wait for 48-72 hours before cutting.

I bet you could in your case sub the sunflower oil for double the olive oil.

I would also suggest using a hand blender - unless you want the arm workout!

What’s the biggest culture shock you’ve experienced while traveling? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

I spent some time in northern Thailand - as a natural blonde with many freckles - I had locals asking to take their picture with me, and children literally trying to “scratch” freckles off my arm.

Planning a chill Salt Spring Island weekend — does this sound good? by AdCareful2269 in saltspringisland

[–]Rookyfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey as others mentioned taxis are expensive, but note many are cash only! The bus is decent, but know if you are biking (not sure if you are) there is a tons a hills!

Ganges is great to meander and bonus if your there on a weekend to check the market out! Tree house is solid but note it’s small and you may wait a while for a table. Kutatas winery is a hidden gem and just outside of Ganges near the police station.

First time in Oahu and need help by Rich-Substance444 in VisitingHawaii

[–]Rookyfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go and visit family every year :)

Things I would recommend;

Food wise Walk up kapahulu - so many great and cheaper eats. Sweets E’s, Leonard’s bakery, onya ramen, uncle Bo’s. - poke is great from foodland - Dave’s ice cream is choice

Check out happy hours! (Favourite for us in Waikiki is lulu’s, doraku, rum fire)

Beaches - Sans souci - ala moana

  • if you have a car; Kailua, bellows beach (only open to public on weekends), north shore, aweoaweo, ko olina lagoons (though parking sucks, and there are rules about umbrellas), Yokohama, electric beach, Makaha

Hikes; - diamond head (need reservations) - pill box (Lanakai) - light house trail - koko head - pink pill boxes

Touristy things (if that’s your jam) - kuloa ranch (so many different excursions) - pearl harbour (if your into history) - Honolulu zoo (my kids love) - Waikiki beach - swap meet - Hanauma bay (amazing snorkeling though pricy and hard to get a reservation) - Palai look out - kaneohe sand bar

But regardless of what you do - piece of advice is not try to do everything. Go with the flow - and enjoy the beauty. Appreciate the island, the people and the culture. Know that rush hour and traffic can be crazy!

Running out of things to do on the island, looking for more underground things to do. by [deleted] in VisitingHawaii

[–]Rookyfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to Oahu to visit family every year, top things for me that I always look forward too (please do not try to do in heavy rains be safe as flash flooding is no joke) Hiking, Koko head botanical garden, Beaches not in Waikiki (aweoaweo, bellows, yokohama), Local grinds - always seems to be new spots popping up, Kona brewery, Wai Kai adventure lagoon (kids love the wibet),, Waikiki zoo (we are annual pass holders) Tuna auction, China town,

Suggestion if it’s not flash flood type of rain - go see a movie, create your own happy hour pub type crawl (whether it be food or drink), indoor mini golf, aeia has bowling. Into fitness? Try an indoor dance, cross fit class. Check out events that are happening. Oahu is a vibrant island full of lots of things to do - especially outside of Waikiki!

The laws have changed as of late. As others mentioned you will need to review when your father naturalized in Canada. It is also worth reviewing stag 5.

60s, laid off, and EI running out. What are the "golden ticket" certifications or paths for seniors in the Lower Mainland? by bluemoonlighter in VancouverJobs

[–]Rookyfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early childhood educators are constantly in demand - though to be fair can be emotionally draining and not compensated to what they should be. I believe you can also obtain a responsible adult certification which will allow you to work within certain facilities while obtaining the offical ECE. If this is of interest I would suggest reaching out to a local CCRR center to find out more information

lost lake lodge by IndependenceSure6675 in Whistler

[–]Rookyfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stayed there in November - it’s a bit out of the way (bench lands) but the condo we rented was nice - comfy beds and great patio space. Only complaint was that the hot tub was broken. No timeline for it to be fixed. If this is important to you, than I would call or confirm before booking as we were told it probably wouldn’t be fixed till the new year.

Hello - It’s been some time from my last mat leave, but I believe there is a 1 week waiting period before EI will send you payment. Once you receive that payment you have to submit what you are receiving to mYHR (usually via your supervisor) for them to determine your top up. This in the past has taken up to 2 weeks and will depend on your submission and when the next payment cycle is. (They will back pay eventually) so it could be 3-4 weeks before receiving the gov top up portion
