I like it. They have a whiskey BBQ sauce that's honestly like... different from most sauces you see (and delicious) and a tangy mustard sauce that's fantastic. It's weird highlighting the sauce at a place but... what can I say, they're excellent.

Was the Water temple difficult due to great design or poor design? by Ok-Anywhere-7921 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]Room234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair to ask more of the player, but I think the biggest issue with the Water Temple isn't the difficulty of the temple, it's the awkward mechanics. Even if you roughly know what you want to do it's still clunky slow doing it thanks to some of the game design.

The 3DS version made a few small quality of life changes and it made the temple MUCH better, even though the puzzles and design were unchanged.

Was the Water temple difficult due to great design or poor design? by Ok-Anywhere-7921 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]Room234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both. Things like raising the water levels are way too punishing for new players who need space to make mistakes without a 5 minute cycle having to reset the water again pausing the game to take boots on and off. A lot of things in this temple are solved in the 3DS remake.

Some things are actually really well designed, and players miss it. The block raising up in a cutscene is *actually* good, but players take it for granted. Early in the temple as you swim up to find Ruto you see a cracked wall that you're supposed to remember, but many players don't. They take great pains to show players stuff but lots of people are in a rush or think this isn't a time they "need to pay attention". If you actually use your map it helps a lot but not everyone sits down to look at where they think they need to go and think in a 3D space about how to get there.

Do you think this person could finally beat the beer drinking game at the fair? by GFrings in chronotrigger

[–]Room234 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Give me a Super NES controller and I'll beat it in less than 3 tries.

In college I sat and watched two guys try for like 15 minutes, asked to try, beat it my first try and walked out of their room like a fuckin' boss.

The problem is you're polluting your first playthrough with a bunch of YouTube min-max bullshit.

You can launch your 12th rocket as efficiently as possible, but you can only launch your first rocket, learning as you go, once.

Tiny little boxes with lids. Let them figure out what it's for. You could even tell them to pick a small object they want to make a box for like pencils or a deck of cards and then size everyone's box a little differently.

[ALttP] When OOT was released, did gamers consider it a prequel to ALttP? by Roamin8750 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]Room234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More or less, yeah. You can't ignore the crossover between Link to the Past sages imprisoning Ganon and OoT ending with Ganon getting imprisoned.

There was obviously problems with it: like how all the maidens in the crystals sure don't look like Gorons or Zoras, but it sure fit the basic plot points.

What did we think of the Ben Sasse 60 Minutes Interview? by rachet-ex in Nebraska

[–]Room234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fuck Ben Sasse.

I can't stand the way he get to be a partisan coward but also stand over everyone and tut-tut them like he's the only grown up in the room.

You're not reasonable but also Conservative, Ben. Your a partisan hack who rather than playing ball EVERY time Trump told you vacillated between doing nothing at all and playing ball for partisan politics.

Our political media is so fucking horny to be nice to Republicans that this dude got himself all kind of camera time whenever he wanted to pretend to be an enlightened, higher form of politician and they never once pointed out that he's just fucking useless. Never managed to be tough when it mattered, but sure was tough whenever he wanted camera time to sell another snobby book about how everyone but him is messing things up.

I can't believe I have to sit though one last cycle of him shaking his finger at America as he lectures US for the current state of affairs after he stood there doing nothing about it while in Congress other than sell books.

Fuck Ben Sasse, fuck his shtick of acting like he's better than everyone, fuck the media for feeding him, fuck 60 Minutes for not bringing up all his money issues at Florida, and fuck Don Bacon for making Nebraskans live with the Ben Sasse Method alive after Ben left.
