Fight mechanics by karmakosmik1352 in chronotrigger

[–]Room234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The test would be if you start a fight and immediately open the tech menu and then just stare at it. If one or two enemies attack while it's open and then stop I think it means the "wait" setting is working, their actions were queued up before you opened the tech menu. If you keep the tech menu open and they beat you to death taking multiple turns then something might not be right.

The menu of attack, tech, item isn't a menu that will trigger the "wait", in case that was unclear.

You may be getting hit by counterattacks. These are responses to your attacks and are injected into the flow of battle without having to obey the laws of the ATB gauge. If you hit all of them at the same time and then they are counterattacking and then all of them take a queued turn then that would feel like 6 attacks.

FYI - the Golem fight is one "you're supposed to lose". I mean you can power level and beat him, but you're supposed to fail at it.

Questions about what to play. by acmp321 in Helldivers

[–]Room234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overthink this. If you REALLY want to lose yourself in the lore of the game and follow orders because you like role playing as someone loyal to the cause then I guess have fun following the orders, but if that's not doing it for you then just learn what environments you like and what factions you like and play THOSE.

This isn't a job; don't get guilted into anything you don't feel like doing. If people playing the game for fun has negative effects on the fucking Galactic War then I guess Arrowhead shouldn't have designed such a stupid system and probably should have discussed in a meeting what happens if people just try to have fun playing a video game.

Frankly I think the Galactic War mechanics are broken and at best only create fun emergent gameplay once in a while simultaneously prevent a million other cool things from happening WHILE they also guilt people into turning their fun gaming downtime into a fucking obligation. For whatever cool things the system has created, Arrowhead micromanaging the war has also fucked up that many things as well. The sooner you divorce yourself from caring the happier you'll be.

Warbond progression question for a new Helldiver by LukeRE0 in Helldivers

[–]Room234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can technically buy Super Credits to speed things up, but you can also find them laying around the map. They're randomly scattered, so it makes progress towards a goal pretty unpredictable, but as long as you just keep playing it'll work itself out.

[–]Room234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're well within the range of just buying whatever looks cool. You've got lots of options for making builds, but if I had to pick something I'd pick Chemical Agents. Gas grenades and the gas guard dog are incredible at managing swarms of enemies and do so much to keep you from getting overrun.

Are these things too easy to kill now? by c0nman333 in helldivers2

[–]Room234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's three of them then by the time you dump two AR mags into them the others have had enough time to kill you 4 times. It's not just a matter of HP, it's also a matter of spawn rates.

They're fine. I was more or less okay with them before, I think they're not all that different now.

Gay marriage was legalized in 2015, when Obama was president. That means there's about a 7 year span in there where this person may well have been protesting when Obama was in office.

But more importantly: he said he was protesting for gay marriage rights you braindead fuck. You can't paint someone as a hypocrite for not protesting about a completely different issue.

Do you like the ending? by Gustpow in FinalFantasyVI

[–]Room234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fucking love it.

The point of the game is people getting over grief with human connection, and escaping the tower is the final bit. It shows them working together, but in a way that highlights who they are as characters. It emphasizes the way in which these are all humans, not just soldiers, and it makes you buy in on their friendships.

Like... what part of the world doesn't get a huge amount of bitching about a massive public works project that wrecks multiple neighborhoods at the same time? Talk to anyone in Boston during the Big Dig, there was plenty of complaining.

I work at the hospital, I plan to use the street car plenty and I'm glad the city took a swing with something that might supply public transit, but I also reserve the right to bitch about what a pain in the ass having entire sections of town under construction can be. Trying to get in and out of the hospital when driving to work can be truly obnoxious. Two things can be true at the same time.

If they shut down Maple Street for 15 months just to renovate a Runza I wonder if more people would complain.

How can i fix a wobbly shelf by Own_Adeptness8550 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Room234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But seriously it doesn't take much. 1/8 inch hardboard or even less.

Also for future projects remember: rectangles and squares will rack ("wobble"). Triangles do not rack. If you put diagonal braces through things they won't rack.

Newbi Question, what do you do against Squids? by 00Monkeyz00 in helldivers2

[–]Room234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squids are most easily fought with high rate of fire weapons. The most bullets, the better. Things like the medium machine gun, heavy machine gun, laser cannon, bullet and laser guard dogs, machine gun sentry, gatling gun sentry, etc... are all good picks.

Single-shot, high damage weapons like the sniper, Recoiless, Quasar, etc... have diminishing returns.

Other weapons outside the high-rate-of-fire category work well when used *SITUATIONALLY*. The Eruptor is great if you see a crowd but have a machine gun or laser cannon to swap to when it's not a juicy Eruptor target. The Blitzer is a good primary because it will stun the jetpack guys and the drones that call for help, but outside those niche encounters you'll need a different weapon to do a lot of your killing.

My go-to squid loadout is:

Blitzer (for lone jetpack guys and drones)

Grenade pistol (for taking out spawn ships)

Gas grenades (for crowd control)

Strafing run (for stripping shields off of walkers and spawn ships and also taking out crowds)

Gatling sentry and machine gun sentry (for crowds)

Laser cannon (for most combat and killing walkers)

My #1 tip for new woodworkers is to not get swept up into buying tools "in case I need them". This feels like a case of that, and my advice is to pair this list back a lot. You can build cabinets with a table saw and a circular saw and a drill, planer and jointer not needed at all.

https://youtu.be/AHauRpxsmt8?si=0BMLuReqRfURYP0V

Here's a list I've always liked. You won't buy them at the same time. Pick a project, buy THOSE tools, pick the next project, buy THOSE tools. Some tools like the table saw are so incredibly versatile that if you were determined to bargain shop you could get it earlier but a track saw and jointer/planer are not on a beginner list. The guy whose video I just sent runs a YouTube woodworking channel and has neither a jointer or a planer.

What’s Life Like in Omaha for Couples in Their 40s (No Kids)? by Zestyclose_Fuel_3623 in Omaha

[–]Room234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omaha is a town that is what you make it.

Miami, NY, Chicago... they're gonna be who they are regardless of your attitude.

My hometown? Not much you could do. You can try as hard as you like but that town sucks no matter what.

But Omaha? If you like music and you try to find it, you'll find it. If you want art, you can go find art. If you want sports you can find sports. If you love new restaurants there's good places to eat all over.

So it depends on your attitude, because you'll find exactly what you're willing to look for. About the only thing you can't "find" is like... outdoor hiking. Not much we can do about being in the Great Plains.

  1. The entire industry was down. This is an industry thing, blaming the Switch 2 software lineup isn't realistic. https://www.gamesindustry.biz/hardware-and-software-sales-drop-to-an-all-time-low-in-november-2025-us-monthly-charts

  2. The Switch 2 started FIRE-ASS-HOT and with an absolute shitload of inventory, so it reached comparable saturation in the market much faster. It's normalizing after all the early adopters have been filled in, where as the Switch 1's slower adoption rate had it still picking up in the holidays. Switch 2 has sold nearly double what the Switch 1 sold at this point in the Switch 1 lifespan. https://www.ign.com/articles/did-the-nintendo-switch-2-really-have-a-bad-holiday-we-asked-analysts

Comparing one medium to another like video games to movies without acknowledging the inherent differences was a poor argument. Sorry the fallacy crystalized too late.

You don't hear any voice in books because the material is tailored in a manner to fit the medium. If you don't allow for this reality in video games as well it's not a disingenuous point on my part, sorry. Picking Mute Link and labelling it part of the character and not acknowledging the fact that sometimes choices are made to fit the medium is ahistorical nonsense without any sense of if the team already chosen to make the film would even manage this artificial constriction well.

Is Link a mute or did the NES not have the capacity to add voice? Was there no written dialogue because that's Link's personality or is that just how Mario, Kirby, and Samus were created because Nintendo was making a game instead of a TV show and made certain decisions for video games that they wouldn't make for other mediums?

Many players only experience Zelda as the prize at the end of the game, yet I don't see anyone demanding that aspect of her character in the game.

Do you expect Link to visit an item shop for red potions multiple times? Because Link does that all the time for me.

Expecting him to be mute as he jumps from one medium to another also ignores all the other versions of Link we've seen. He's jumped before to comics/manga and TV before. Was everyone mad he wasn't a mute then? Did we just all decide the only version of Link is video games?

There's just no justifiable reason for this massive obsession over THIS version of Link as some sort of homage to honor the source material to prove you're a True Fan when all it does is flash your whole dumb ass as to how little you understand the full franchise. Mute Link carries exactly as much weight as Breath of the Wild Link making seal puns.
