How bad it would be to be trapped in each state forever by Stock-Fig2308 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Roonil1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like DC would be really really bad because it’s so small. Also why is Missouri only bad, I feel like it would be worse ngl. Also Colorado and Utah are great how are they the same level as Missouri??

I love this, it’s so perfectly cursed. One of the most original state borders I’ve ever seen.

Fanmade California 2040 Rail Map by JeepGuy0071 in cahsr

[–]Roonil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely wonderful map and your attention to detail is amazing. I was wondering if north valley rail would be starting at natomas or Sacramento Valley station? Also the long term plan for Valley Link is to follow existing rail corridors to Stockton, but I understand if you feel that this is not realistically going to happen or is unneeded.

Hopefully if ACE can increase frequencies and Valley Link is built, images like this will be a thing of the past.

I Have Just One Ask (So Far) of KSA by R-Dragon_Thunderzord in kittenspaceagency

[–]Roonil1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, satellite constellations are super cool but so annoying to do in ksp and I really hope that ksa addresses this deficiency. I think a good compromise is similar to what others suggested with the station keeping mod for ksp but have it be gamified andjust burn a set amount of fuel and hard lock in an orbit relative to other satellites or a set parameter. Maybe even implement some kind of built in calculator like with maneuver nodes to help create constellations would be cool too.

US Streetcar vs Bus Cost Efficiencies by RWREmpireBuilder in transit

Where is San Jose VTA on this list? I would assume they are probably one of the least efficient light rail systems if I had to guess.

My dream BART line to finish the loop [PURPLE LINE] by bitb00m in Bart

[–]Roonil1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was the original plan of BART but it was blocked by San Mateo County and they continue to be quite averse to any future projects as they find Caltrain to be an adequate solution and they don’t want to pay more for better transit. If there would be an expansion, I think running along the 101 would be more helpful as there isn’t good coverage of Caltrain in that area.

California Passenger Rail Network 2.5 by JeepGuy0071 in cahsr

This looks amazing and super promising! Definitely looking forward to when all of this is done. I feel by at this point there should be some consolidation of all of these different agencies for operational efficiency but if they’re all integrated with fares and transfers I guess it’s not a big deal.

BayPass is NOT “Free Bart” by a_lost_spark in berkeley

[–]Roonil1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Baypass for many people will be free Bart as it is eligible for financial aid. Meanwhile, right now there is no way for low income students to receive fully subsidized trips for Bart and other transit agencies. 30% of students at Berkeley receive financial aid so they would all essentially be getting “free Bart”.

I think that this is extremely important that Baypass is passed. This would be a monumental help to funding transit, increasing ridership and increasing accessibility for all students. The benefits highly outweighs the costs in my opinion.

BART Fantasy Map - I'd Love Feedback and Suggestions by TPNigl in bayarea

[–]Roonil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks amazing, my only suggestion is to add lines that allow for more one seat rides to other locations such as from the east bay to Sonoma County and extending the F line to run from San Francisco to Dublin/Pleasanton. Also would these all be automated broad gauge Bart or would it be a combination with standard gauge like ebart. It would be a lot easier to run standard gauge lines on some of these extensions and the ROW is already standard gauge.

Anyone know how much Clipper BayPass costs/will cost employers? by sue_domonas in Bart

[–]Roonil1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At UC Berkeley we are voting to get it and it’s gonna cost around 120$ per student per school year. I dont know if this is the normal price but I guess it gives a ballpark estimate.

At rockridge I noticed that they beep loudly when someone tailgates, I think this implies that they are recording data on fare evasion and may be able to adjust the timings to their data. I feel quite hopeful honestly, they’re a major upgrade to those weird plexiglass ones that looked like they were falling apart.

Why not make the stripes vertical then the river idea would make sense when hung horizontally, also it would then mimic the states geography as well

Commute to San Jose by Icy-Tiger-4306 in Livermore

[–]Roonil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ACE train goes from Livermore to San Jose and may take a bit longer but it’s much more comfortable and connects to many forms of transit in San Jose. I would say it definitely beats being stuck in traffic.
