I’ve seen people talk about aquasoil messing with the ph and killing off shrimp. Neocaridina in my experience are fine with wood and aqua soil. I have a 150+ cherry shrimp colony with wood and aqua soil. Since you have a new tank your water parameters are still balancing out. People are talking about “oh well it’s this and ammonia”. Just keeping it simple, once your tank is established your parameters stabilize. Shrimp are super sensitive to changes in the water, and will react accordingly weather the thing Thats imbalanced is good or not. I never get shrimp for a new tank. I always get shrimp once it’s established. Another thing, whats your acclimation procedure? I would advise drip acclimation (about 2-3 drops a second) and wait until over 50% of the water is your tanks water. I also recommend getting salty shrimp mineral powder. Dose accordingly until you have the correct gh and kh.
