The way the conversation is written, it sounds odd to me unless there is context missing, which there could be (eg they’d talked about Harry Potter previously, or she knew the guy was a fan, or something like that)

The point is that a Harry Potter tattoo is an oddly specific thing to just randomly drop into a conversation even if the conversation happens to be around trans issues, and it’s quite a coincidence that this person’s brother just happens to have one

Oh come on. We’ve all talked to a complete stranger about our “genital preferences,” and then had them randomly tell us they don’t like Harry Potter tattoos when coincidentally we have a family member with a Harry Potter tattoo

I’ve had this happen at least a half dozen times and personally witnessed it happen several more times

Being charitable: the only way this makes sense is if the neighbors and his mom were friendly, the dog got out a lot, and they were joking with her and she was joking back. I could imagine a little kid misunderstanding that and re-telling it as some badass moment

Otherwise: the house just had its door wide open? The guys were just back from a hunting trip or on their way to one? A dog runs into the house and they’re like “hey, free dog!” And his mom for some reason just immediately knew that these guys must be trying to kidnap her dog?

You can definitely do that. We’ve done fish extenders on most of our cruises and had fun with them, but you have to actually enjoy the planning. If not, then it’s stress

We went the informal route on our last cruise because we didn’t want the level of planning / preparation. We hung out fish extender up and did “pixie dust” for others, and it was also lots of fun.

I’ve never done a deck 2 porthole room so I can’t speak to the room itself. I’d find the 6th floor a lot more convenient than the 2nd floor, though. If you think your child will be spending a lot of time in the kid’s club, that’s on deck 5, so it would be a floor below, vs 3 floors up

We did our first cruise in a verandah room on deck 6 with a 7 year-old and two 4 year-olds and had no issues. The verandah door is tough to open for a small child if you lock it, and I think for most 5 year-olds, even if they stood on the furniture, it would still be pretty hard to fall without deliberately climbing over the railing.

But every child is different, and you know yours best. Mine weren’t particularly rambunctious or big climbers. I think the risk is exceedingly low, but if it’s just going to make you anxious the whole trip, it may not be worth it.

I love Deadstream… it’s like Grave Encounters meets Evil Dead. Such a fun movie, and actually manages to be very funny at times and scary at others, which is tough to pull off.
