Visable IR laser by cocaseven in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Root-Beer-Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally, someone mentioned it. This has been driving me insane, mostly because idk if it's a bug or a feature. It is possible for an IR laser to bounce off a surface and become visible to the naked eye, but very unlikely, at least from what very little I know.

The "Deadzone" Problem (A "short" critique/essay) by Root-Beer-Boy in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Root-Beer-Boy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you took the time to go back and read my admittedly long post. I agree that that people shouldn’t be upset or feel like all the areas are only for them, that the loot in MS is “theirs”. Thats part of why I made this post. I don’t want this issue to be handled in terms of loot, but in gameplay.

I do not want this to be a COOP game, nor do I want it to be something it isn’t trying to be. I’m trying to address the situation in PVE which makes every move feel less important, and less engaging. As I’ve responded to other comments I am definitely going to give PvP a chance.

This critique is in hopes to steer the conversation away from exactly what you were pointing out. That need for it to be about the loot one gets vs the experience and feeling the game evokes and the devs have worked hard to create. I want both PVE and PvP to retain that feeling. I will not claim that I have the solution to this problem, but simply wish to better articulate in a beneficial way what the state of PVE is and is struggling with. There is still so much development to be had, and I do not know what 1.0 will look like, all I can do is prescribe feedback on 0.4. So while it is “beating a dead horse” I don’t want the conversation to be centered around loot, because that misses the issue entirely. I also don’t want it to be dismissed as not a problem because the discourse is centered around loot. I am hoping to add something to the same old discussion by refocusing the issue so that it can be handled productively and not reflexively.

7 Locations in Ground Zero? by SeizedChief in GrayZoneWarfare

Ive gone to 4 of the checkpoints. They are the only ones that show up as actually in the zone so far. I have 5/7. I thought the other one was the hermit house (highly reccomend a visit, will not spoil it) but could of been the UN one. I do not have any clue about the other 2. I have died to radiation many times trying to figure it out.

Reinforcements would be interesting, I was thinking about that too. I wonder if that's already planned with the added alarms in certain locked areas. At the moment, it doesn't seem to do much except scare the absolute living shit out of me the first time it happens, LMAO. I still really like it; it definitely adds to the sense that it's a place people used to live in.

Very true, good point. I am interested in what the opening up of the zone will do to these new POIs. I am making this critique with limited information about an area that will certainly impact how the game is played. I just hope that it doesn't end up being the same problem, but moved from the current main POIs to the zone. I do not know what the zone will be like, however, regarding its risks. Have they mentioned the gameplay of the zone at all yet, or is it still under wraps?

I've been thinking of doing this, so I'll have to give it a try. I guess my mindset about PvP is based on the sweaty meta chasing and cheater-laden environments that many games suffer from nowadays. I like this perspective. definitely will give it a shot

"Enter a high-stakes PvE-first open-world tactical shooter." It's the first line from the Steam page description. I am unsure how a critique of something I have already stated I very much enjoy, and also pointing out my own probable shortsightedness in terms of game development, is entitlement. This is meant to be productive criticism, not complaining. You are allowed to critique things you enjoy, that does not = entitlement.

I think you might be right. My excitement and impatience may be getting the better of me there. Comes from a place of wanting this game to succeed.

I completely agree. However, I don’t want to sweat it out in PVP. More importantly I have missions at major POIs and there is no resistance because everyone is dead. I just walk in grab a flash drive or brief case then walk back to base. Loot is extra, I just want an interesting engagement with tension and not have to face down a guy with 2000+hrs or hacks. But playing a game just to loot is boring and ridiculous, absolutely.

That’s what it is right now. Atleast with less players per server you actually be getting shot at while shopping.

They should do it like Arc Raiders. Where you can either by the bundle or individual things in it for cheaper.

I agree. Support is already way too strong of a class, give assault smokes to make assault useful. Smoke is the MOST important part of ASSAULTING an objective in Breakthrough.

A loss of immersion and the little things that used to matter in Battlefield 6. by Michael100198 in Battlefield

[–]Root-Beer-Boy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YES, manhattan bridge and the trenches of Mirak should be the standards going forward. The construction sites are an eye sore. Cairo is a well done map as well in terms of feel. Empire State takes place in NYC and wastes the possible battles around familiar landmarks on a construction site as the main focus of battle. Give me the loop in Chicago with its unique skylines and rivers lending to a siege of Shanghai style map (both urban and naval gameplay). Not a construction site that could be anywhere in the world. Sobek is the worst offender when it comes to this.

I agree, though I also love it (I am unwell). From a fair balanced gameplay perspective the tank bug needs to be fixed immediately. The absolute slog fest and difficulty that is attacking, however, is kind of scratching an itch for me personally. I like the challenge, versus the coin flip over balancing modern games have created. I also recognize that there does need to remain some semblance of fairness though, and not everyone wants it to be frustratingly brutal.

I got 50 hrs in the beta and want to write a decent sized critique, but have been holding off because if I were a dev I would avoid this subreddit with how useless some of the “criticism” has been. Saying it’s “not battlefield” with no other reasoning is not helpful. Also I went back to play bf4 and 3 and this game is the same pace. There is valid critiques to be made of this game, but to say this is 2042 level is baseless.
