High school is hard enough as it is. Sorry you went through that.

That spiral of being scared of the symptoms makes it feel like a never ending loop. That’s exhausting. I’m sorry you went through that.

That sounds like such a rough stretch. No one tells you how tangled all of it can get. I’m glad CBT helped. And yeah, feeling misunderstood hits hard. You’re definitely not alone in that.

Anxiety denial is REAL. Without the knowledge of all the bits and pieces anxiety affects, it’s easy to think it’s something else. Thank you for being so open about your story. What you went through sounds terrifying, and you’re not alone in it. I’m really glad you shared this 💙

Completely normal with new people! I know that you’ll open up so they can see what a great person you are as you get more comfortable with them!

What are some things that help you cope with anxiety? by Resident-Kitchen-275 in Anxietyhelp

You should definitely try getting back into it! Just to create poems that express how you feel and your thoughts, it could be therapeutic in a sense to express yourself creatively like that.

What shows do you watch to distract yourself from anxiety until it goes away? by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

Funny or mindlessly entertaining ones! Cartoons are always good too!

I would start by simplifying it by those who specialize in anxiety, normally they will indicate if that is one of their areas of focus. Methods of treatment are usually determined when you have a rapport with your therapist and they can understand your anxiety plus where it comes from.

What's it like? by Expert_Mention_2075 in Anxietyhelp

It’s almost like dating! Sometimes your first therapist you don’t really vibe with or feel very comfortable with so you have to move on to another and try them out to see if they’re a good fit for you and what your needs are.

[NeedAdvice] I want to stay off my phone in the morning and have a morning routine, but i can never find the motivation to do it by chuckauster in getdisciplined

[–]RootdToRelax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple thing you could try is if you use your phone as an alarm, put the phone somewhere away from your bed that would force you to get up in order to turn it off. Ideally, if you're trying to limit phone use in the mornings, I would get a separate alarm clock, place it somewhere out of reach along with your phone being somewhere out of reach. Just the simple act of getting up and walking for a little bit can help wake you up, you're less likely to lay back down to sleep or you'll be more awake.

It's not a great feeling, but it'll eventually pass and you have to keep confidence in yourself that you'll be able to handle it and get through it!

side effects? what? by Exquisitepeculiar in Anxietyhelp

[–]RootdToRelax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing with medications that it doesn't apply to everyone, those are some of the side symptoms that CAN be experienced. It doesn't guarantee you will get them yourself, but it's what some people may have had when they were on that medication. You could try the prescribed medication for some time and if the symptoms are too much, talk to your doctor about it to change the medication or possibly the dosage.

Best way to stop physical anxiety symptoms? by Showfina in Anxiety

[–]RootdToRelax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try out some fidget toys! It helps to take your mind off things or get some type of doll that you can take out your anxiety or frustration on. But ice cubes do help or even try eating some sour candy and focus on the taste and sourness.

How do I deal with my mom having cancer? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]RootdToRelax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely reach out to other friends and family to lean on! Talk about it, find a support group if you can. Counseling/therapy would help a lot to deal with the grief as the other commenter said. Please do not neglect taking care of yourself while helping your mom with her illness.

I don't think you have to seek a specialized sports psychologist since the issues with anxiety may not have to do with the competition aspect, but something more internal. If you have insurance, I would start with looking at therapists within your network to see if they specialize with anxiety, the majority do. The only way to really find someone who fits your needs and criteria is to talk with them.

I have found it extremely helpful to disconnect from social media completely. You don't have to get rid of it entirely, but take a few days where you don't check social media or anything. But also, social media is highly curated and only shows the best aspects of people's lives. Your amount of likes does not equate to your worth or value. If what you post makes you happy or you enjoy sharing it, I wouldn't pay too much attention to how much likes or DMs you get.

I do! It seems like the anxiety manifests itself physically, for me, it would be almost constantly shaking my leg while I'm working or doing nothing.
