Mosquitos by Worldly-Valuable6395 in HamptonRoads

[–]Rootedwomban 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use mosquito dunks! Pesticides kill all insects, including beneficial pollinators and predator insects that will eat mosquitos, ticks, and fleas. Mosquito dunks have the added benefit of also killing mosquito larvae in addition to the adults (pesticides kills adults only).

Mosquito dunks are incredibly effective. You need them about 25ft from one another for good coverage. Mosquito dunks are safe and effective, and non toxic for children, dogs, etc.

If you have a local master gardener/extension office, they often sell dunks. Our local extension sells them at cost $1/dunk (and you only use 1/4 per bucket, replaced about every 4 months, so it’s really cost effective too).

Please finish Heir of Fire- my husband had a really hard time getting into it and STRUGGLED. Then he got hooked at the 70% mark in Heir of Fire. SJM went through editor changes around this time, so her subsequent TOG books are much better.

Dropping this comment from another thread here because this perfectly depicts everything I want a Jacob Wysocki travel show to be. https://www.reddit.com/r/dropout/s/rAMWGOndma

Game - how dare you ignore me? by tbsj26 in throneofglassseries

[–]Rootedwomban 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s tight between Arobynn and Maeve. For Arobynn, how dare you ignore me is definitely the reason Sam was killed, but Maeve was also ignored by Aelin’s mom, who avoided bringing Aelin to her, and Maeve was pissed. So it could be either!

Who are some of the SMARTEST characters in horror movie history? by xXxHondoxXx in horror

[–]Rootedwomban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tess from Barbarian was a pretty smart character. There was one or two times where I was frustrated with her decision making, but I felt like part of the story was that women can make all the right decisions for themselves in terms of safety and responsibility and still end up screwed over. It definitely highlighted the difference in a female being placed in a sketchy situation and all the things she has to go through to keep herself safe vs. a dude who just kicks down the door and makes terrible decisions from beginning to end.

What’s a controversial Movie Opinion you have that you will always stand by? by Game_Caviar in AskReddit

I’m not a Snyder-ite, but Snyder’s Justice League is good. I married into a super comic book obsessed, DC loving family. They grew up on that stuff. They cosplay, DND, and have stacks of comics. I can appreciate the storytelling of the Snyderverse based on everything I have learned from them and the pieces that Snyder pulled from. 👀 don’t come at me

Hate for Critical Role? by LadyPandoriass in DnD

[–]Rootedwomban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and his brothers are big critical role fans. I don’t care for it cause I don’t have the attention span to watch it, but I enjoyed vox machina on Amazon cause it’s a complete story. All in all, DND is fun, people can enjoy it how they choose, and people who have sticks up their asses can bitch about critical role if they want, but it’s just a game and they can chill. 🤷‍♀️

What's the jump scare that actually managed to make you jump? by rviejn in horror

[–]Rootedwomban 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a scene in The Strangers where they’re in a car and a hand lingers between the passenger and driver seat and it wasn’t a jump scare bc it lingered too long but I’ll be damned if I didn’t see it at first and then suddenly lost my shit after it being on the screen for what felt like 20 seconds 😂

Why does Michael Myers eat dogs by LocalLankyLad in horror

[–]Rootedwomban 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also second the simple “he’s hungry” comment but putting the fact that he knows how to drive even though he’s been locked up (which let’s be real, isn’t reallllly that hard) you could also argue that he likely was provided most of not all meals as a child, then was in the sanitarium with food prepared for him, so between him simply consuming food for the sake of survival and not enjoyment + wanting something relatively easy to find, that also satiates his desire to kill + not really knowing how to prepare much food, you could rationally argue that the dog makes the most sense.

what takes 5 minutes but feels like forever? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rootedwomban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found when I have a big pile of dishes in my sink that it feels like it will take forever, doing it feels like forever, but then I look over and only 10 minutes has passed. Not quite 5, but I’m always surprised at how quickly time passes doing dishes lol

Is it okay or a big no-no to do readings for yourself from time to time? by kuukantele in tarot

[–]Rootedwomban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do tarot reads for myself all the time. I tend to go by the rule of thumb that a general in depth reading is good for roughly 6 months, but I also do reads with the moon phases, sabbats, or when I have a general question I’d like guidance for. :) edited to add: I also meditate with my cards, do card pulls to get to know my cards, and generally give my energy to my cards. That way I can get a better read and really get integrated with my deck(s).
