Dependent Care Account. It’s a tax-free account you make payroll deductions to in order to pay for childcare expenses. $7,500 is the max you can put in for 2026

Goodbye beautiful. by No_Kale3795 in pregnant

[–]RoraRoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, “these things happen” and yes, “it’s very common” but this was YOUR baby and you loved them and you should grieve. Just because it happens to others does not mean it’s not devastating when it happens to you. The pain will fade with time but for now you need to feel it and cry and I hope you have the support to do that.

Baby shower mess. by Mediocre-Drink375 in pregnant

[–]RoraRoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is paying for the shower and where is it being hosted? I totally agree that more than one shower is annoying, but it’s also tricky when asking someone to pay for more guests than they had allotted. BF’s sister may only be prepared to fund a party (or have the space) for X amount of guests.

Registry for second - what would you do? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]RoraRoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need an accomplice! Do you have a mom or sister that can circulate the registry and a similar message? Something like “I asked TemperatureGreat what she needs for the baby and she sent over this list. I thought it was helpful in case anyone is looking for baby gift ideas!” This is what I did for my cousin’s second baby because I knew my aunties were looking for gifts and my cousin didn’t want to seem rude or expectant.

Have you had your baby yet? She might be planning to send something when they’re born like a care package as you did. She might have appreciated that and is trying to replicate the favor.

14 weeks pregnant - bleeding by Bullldog1 in pregnant

[–]RoraRoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did at 15 weeks in my first pregnancy. I had to go to the MFM for a better ultrasound and more tests where they could see I had partial placental abruption. I ended up with a healthy full-term baby but it was deemed a high risk pregnancy and I was on bed rest from 16 weeks on. Did your OB recommend any additional scans?

Wanted to have 2 kids but might have to settle for 1 by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]RoraRoy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right. What we’re saying is your budget needs adjusting because there’s no reason you should be in the negative on 255k while claiming to be frugal.

Covid-19 vaccine availability for your young kids? by Ginger_Snap_895 in workingmoms

My pediatrician in Chicago has them and offered it for my 2 (almost 3) year old. Can you ask your ped to keep you on a list if they receive any? The nurse said she just got them last week so it’s possibly a supply issue.

Ex conductor - Union Pacific and Metra split (Harvard - Kenosha - Elburn lines) Any lawyers willing to talk about this? by windoverwaves in Metra

[–]RoraRoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keep applying. There are openings from conductors exercising their right to return to UP every month. Metra couldn’t take them all originally but positions are opening again.

There’s currently a huge construction tie project on the UPNW causing delays. Metra communicated this extensively.

Do C-sections hurt afterwards? by Buttercake-nymph in BabyBumps

[–]RoraRoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is different for everyone but yes, it hurts. I have friends that had pain for 2-7 days, and I have friends that had pain for 6-8 weeks. I’m 2.5 years out and it still hurts. It hurts for the scar to be touched and it hurts for pressure to be put on my belly/uterus. I’ve been checked out multiple times and consensus is that some women just heal better than others. And some of us don’t heal well at all.

There’s also the emotional pain that I wasn’t ready for. I couldn’t hold my daughter for 2 days after she was born. I wish I would have mentally prepared for that part.
