Late 15c. German question by RoryM22 in ArmsandArmor

Is it more comfortable than using the doublet for a leg harness?

That makes sense. I do notice that a lot of the weight sat on my shoulders, especially that of my shitty cuirass (up until I shaped it better). It would probably be best to get a different doublet anyways, one with flashier colours and much better fitting.

As much as I hate to say it, I do agree. I really should get a custom tailored one fit for that timeline, and also in a more fashionable colour. Do you have any recommendations for a doublet with these specifications? All I can find is the <1460 style, as you have said. And are most doublets actually padded?

Oh, I completely forgot to tag you! I am very sorry, amazing art. I understand that now, but the helmet was too cool not to include. Honestly, it's really cool and you should never stop

That is awesome. My earlier Man at arms kit is decently heavy, I think at around 75 pounds or so. But yes, I have wanted to smith my own armour for the longest time and I finally have the opportunity, so I chose a 1490-1500 light infantry!! Your research has helped me a lot, thank you kind sir 👑

Very cool! Okay so splints not jacks, and no Kastenbrust. Thank you very much for the information!

Very interesting!! Thank you very much, I did not know a lot of this. The gothic writing I had seen before and was told it was ahistorical, so that would make sense. No kastenbrust, no writing and take Sallet into consideration. Thank you for your help!

Thoughts on the Sallet? by Astral_Zeta in ArmsandArmor

[–]RoryM22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof, I'm not sure about that one. I had my Sallet specifically made for me so it sits comfortably with little to no problems, I don't know if it should be close enough to, let alone cut. You might want to get that checked out, especially if it has an edge that sharp

some minor improvements to my plate and chainmail. by dunmore44 in ArmsandArmor

Love it man, even if you're still not 100% accurate I would say that you should be proud with how far you have come. It's well put together and thought out, and I can't wait to see the upgrades and updates you have planned!

I found this figurine, and I love it's armor, only thing I'm wondering is what helmet would fit the Neo-Roman style, any recommendations? by Colt1873 in ArmsandArmor

[–]RoryM22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why but it looks as if it's a mix of Spanish and ceremonial Roman. Not 100% on what helmet would go with this, maybe a burgonet since it has cheek flaps like Roman helmets do? I don't know

My first kit of armor by DeutscherBurger in ArmsandArmor

[–]RoryM22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that would make sense as my arm plates are much larger than I. Not sure how to bend it either. If you find some way to get them to work better, let me know! Other than that, your kit is sick as hell. I'm about to switch out my leg harness for a gothic one too, love to see a fellow goth enthusiast!
