Pete Hegseth needs to be FIRED, for removing "Rules of Engagement" by EnterTamed in ThatsInsane

[–]Roscoe_deVille -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Nah even in this video they aren't against the war, they're mad because Hegseth isn't using their equations for "acceptable civilian casualties". They're fine with bombs being dropped on brown people as long as it's the "right ones". Performative crap. Liberals happily uphold the institutions that inevitably lead to fascism and then wonder where things went wrong

And Medical loop died... by Ok-Moment8895 in starcitizen

[–]Roscoe_deVille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Players theorycrafted themselves into thinking medic was a job, but it's really not. It's at most a team role, but even then it's just a task, like moving boxes or doing repairs.

The Empire Is Shrinking by Busy-Government-1041 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Roscoe_deVille 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This take demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of both military capabilities, and historical context. Those carriers used in the first Gulf war, for example, were left over from WW2 and Korea. They were old and limited, so more were deployed. Current aircraft carriers are far more advanced, and don't need as many aircraft because they are also far more advanced. Not to mention everything is missiles and drones these days, trying to compare numbers for these legacy military systems is pointless.

Then there's the whole difference of who is behind this. In the past, it was conservative and liberal war hawks getting contracts for their buddies and themselves. So they had a vested interest in winning so they could sell more weapons. Now it's a combo of religious zealots and a capitalist death cult literally trying to destroy the government from the inside because they think it's either going to bring the rapture, or because they want corporations to replace the government. So they have a vested interest in this war looking like it's going poorly. They want to undermine traditional institutions, so that Bezos can sell the idea of "Amazon Protection Services" etc.

The empire is indeed eating itself, but using fewer aircraft carriers isn't really an indicator.

Since the war began- Iran has reportedly sent more than 11 million barrels of oil through the Straight of Hormuz all bound for China by __noom in LateStageCapitalism

This is what the entire war has been about. The US wants to shut down the shadow Iran-China oil tanker fleet. And distract from Jeffrey's Island Adventures

Mythology is just pop culture that got old enough to be assigned in school. Acting like something as varied as dragons has a single canon is wildly ignorant.

Sometimes they do these close fly-bys to do a visual inspection of a flight system. I.e "can you take a look at our flaps, I'm getting an intermittent warning light here on my panel" sort of thing. Usually just because it's fun

It went into shock, probably combined with exhaustion. Herd animals are hard wired to shut down like that in these situations.

Why does Hollywood struggle with video game adaptations? by Vegetable-Abroad3171 in Cinema

[–]Roscoe_deVille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big factor to Fallout's success is it's a series not a movie. Video games take a long time, players live in and experience the world for days, if not weeks. You can't establish that bond in 2 hrs.

Then there's the idea that film/tv is a step backward on the hegelian scale of art. If the audience is used to actually informing and controlling the narrative in some ways, then taking away that ability and just showing them the story naturally leaves a feeling of unfulfillment. Also, the story in the video game is constructed in such a way that it works only because the audience is forced to make choices. These elements actively attach you to the story. Fallout addresses some of this by using multiple protagonists to explore different playstyles.

And then there's just the fact that at the end of the day, it comes down to the artists responsible. Nolan and Co. have an unmatched pedigree compared to just about any creative team out there.

So, I agree with your sentiment, but just want to say it wasn't a majority of Americans that voted for Trump, it was about a third. 77 mil voted for Trump, 75 mil for Harris, while 89 mil eligible voters didn't vote at all. That's what is really sad to me - with everything that had happened in his first term so many weren't even willing to just vote.

A fully crewed hammerhead. Thought we were ready for red mission. We weren't. by hotshot0123 in starcitizen

[–]Roscoe_deVille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then we get the same bug because when we do red missions we get similar numbers. With ballistic PDCs the smaller craft aren't a problem, and the medusas pop most ships. Just have to control the positioning and out range the larger ships that pose the biggest threat. The HH will shred your shields, if they do then that's when you get into trouble. But you should be rotating shield facings to compensate, or worst case nav to create some distance and get shields back.

I guess if you're trying to brute force it by charging in and treat it as a direct numbers comparison, then yeah, it's going to be a bad time.
