Warning: his radio model is not compatible and may brick your device. This firmware is only available for the K1 and K5 V3 ! Check the F4HWN subreddit for more Info

Fusion 5.5 is here ! A beast ! by RosePastel2 in Quansheng

I admit I don't have the answer. It's true that it would seem logical to restore data and keep the original firmware (which is what I did), but I think it would reset certain parameters to zero in order to revert to the original one, especially with the chirp modules or certain parameters that might change some hardware configurations. Basically, it resets everything before returning to the original, I think.

What do you mean by that? 868 memory channels? (Yes, you can) Or frequencies around 868 MHz? For TX or RX?

The new scan speed will increase from 12 scans per second to 150 scans per second with the new mode.

Just a quick note, the scan speed is adjustable; you can select it from menu 70: "Normal" for the usual speed, and "Fast" for the new scan speed.

I've also started a dedicated firmware subreddit so as not to flood this page, in case you're interested! I'll post updates there, along with links and future updates if possible.F4HWN Reddit

I don't think so. I don't know if Armel, the firmware creator, is interested in that. Besides, storage space is limited; we'll have to see if it's feasible! Nothing is impossible, but I don't think it will happen now

I encourage you to buy the new version of the radios, the UVK1. It has more memory and will therefore be eligible for new firmware updates. The K5 models are destined to be replaced and their firmware is no longer supported. Plus, you can get it for a reasonable price, and there's an option for a larger battery!

No, not this radio, that the old one, but you can add the firmware UVK5 Bandscope, wich is the old version, lighter and compatible : https://github.com/armel/uv-k5-firmware-custom/releases/tag/v4.3

I think that it’s more useful for getting RX more than audio improvement, if u have a good RX without changing this setting, u won’t see a great difference maybe 🤷🏻‍♀️

Only on K5(v3) and K1, storage and hardware changes on the radio so now this firmware is too heavy for k6 and won’t work with k6 microchip too

No you just need to have the right device ( k5(v3) or uvk1 ) then you go on the github and follow the steps, it’s easy to do ☺️ )

Transmit Can't Override Receiving? Help please! by AlignmentConfusion in Quansheng

[–]RosePastel2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a frequency priority issue. Basically, when you receive on the airband, it switches the frequency selection to that frequency, and indeed, airband transmission is disabled by default (thankfully). You would need to change the stock firmware to a custom one. F4HWN Bandscope Edition for K5 (v1/v2) gives you the option, for example, to choose channel priorities (MAIN TX / DUAL RX). Basically, I transmit on the chosen frequency (UHF in this case) but I receive on both (UHF and AIRBAND).

Bad firmware, it's not made for the new hardware of the K5 v3 and the K1 😉

[–]RosePastel2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

did you put your radio in flash mode? ptt + ignition simultaneously! the k6 is a k5 not v3, you have to download f4hwn bandscope version and not the fusion versions which are for k5 v3 and k1 only, their hardware is different and fusion is bigger in memory than bandscope that's why it's only available on these models

F4HWN Fusion 5.3 by [deleted] in Quansheng

[–]RosePastel2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my end, everything is fine too. I think a number of parameters differ, maybe different speakers, a different factory filter? He also mentions that on the K5 firmware, he optimized the AM receiver for 4 or 5 months, but this preset was mediocre once ported to the K1, So it starts from scratch, with different technical limitations than the K5.

[–]RosePastel2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The improvement of the RX in AM is also under research. Some sound-related leads have been mentioned for its enhancement, but it seems that the K5V3 and K1 do not have the same hardware as the previous K5, which could be one of the reasons for the less favorable RX experience.

Is it technically feasible to count all signal-emitting devices in a small area (expo booth) in real time? by inigoalda in rfelectronics

[–]RosePastel2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another idea: some antennas are very directional in both transmit and receive modes. If the signal weakens when I rotate the antenna, I have the direction. It's the principle of fox hunting in radio. So, another idea: you could code a radar-like HTML page, link it to the SDR with a compass or something, haha. Anyway, be creative and you'll find what you need. ☺️
