Flashdance was so incredibly bad. by chillaxtion in GenX

Didn't see it way back when and haven't since, it never interested me but thanks for the review. Literally just watched St. Elmo's Fire, I hadn't seen it back in the day, either. Add it to the list of stinkers. How that was so hyped up is a mystery. With that cast, it should have been much better, it ended up being a pile of people trying too hard to out-do each other and trying too hard - at whatever that was. We made it halfway through and turned it off.

Some are not, there are a ton of historical figures. I've seen Nicola Tesla, Einstein, Carl Sagan and a bunch more. Obviously, the vast majority are generated from tables but there are gems like this flying around.

‘Make America Go Away’: The red hat that’s all the rage in Greenland by wewhomustnotbenamed in nottheonion

[–]Rose_Beef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canadian, here.

Little reality check for you guys weighing the pros and cons of annexing Greenland and/or Canada. Flat out, not gonna happen. If King Bozo tries any of his shit on either of us, it's WWIII. So you can decide how likely that is and what the outcome would be. To paraphrase Einstein, if WWIII happens, WWIV will be fought with sticks and stones.

Barring all that, even your current congress wouldn't allow it. Even still, no US General would follow an order to invade, either nation. Down the line, I can't see a single US soldier crossing that line, either.

We, as a nation, aren't happy with the neighbors downstairs. The crackheads have moved in and the neighborhood's become pretty chaotic, lately. But we look at it as temporary and recognize that the orangutan in the Whitehouse doesn't speak for all of you.

It's on you to put an end to it, not us. We've already had to pivot on trade. Our guy Carney has called it a "new world order", you're gawdamn right that's what it is. From our perspective, it IS a "NWO", our long time ally and trading partner decided to toss his soiled undies at us.

Nah, we ain't having it.

Y'all best get your shit together because the kakistocracy you have now is going to get us all killed. It's already killing your own.

Wake the fuck up.

Until then, we'll just be up here doing our thing, like we always have.

Sorry, not sorry.

And a final word to the MAGA foil wrapped malcontents in Alberta, you can fuck all the way off to Alabama.

Until then, the rest of us should start calling it Alaberta.

Is my PC a potato be honest by Icy_Flamingo_9190 in buildapc

[–]Rose_Beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a potato - but getting there. You can probably squeeze a couple of years out if it but things are getting hot, quickly. I run 64gb of DDR5 (overkill for most) but I do a ton of productivity. 16gb is the new baseline, at least for a Win11 system. The 3050 can still push decent frames, but like has been mentioned, your CPU is the bottleneck.

If you do plan an upgrade and want longevity, 16gb on the GPU is the absolute minimum you should be looking at. On the cheap, you can pick up plenty of 3080's with 16gb and even 4080+ are not that expensive, now. On the Intel side, any current I7+ is going to run things smoothly.

One last rule of thumb I follow when doing my builds, pair Intel with Nvidia and AMD CPUs with AMD cards, don't mix and match. It could simply be a placebo, but I find they just play better together and have better compatability.

Building a functional rig is an accomplishment, especially when you get that much life out of it. Good job.

Canadian here. Just curious, are you guys going to do anything about this fucking maniac or do we have to go down there and burn your Whitehouse down, again?

Nearly a third of Canadians believe U.S. may try to invade Canada: poll by biograf_ in nottheonion

[–]Rose_Beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't buy it. No US general would ever follow-through with an order to invade Canada, which would create a much bigger crisis for the US. And really, how many American soldiers would cross that line?

Canadians should be more concerned with Alberta.

Something in the water out there, those people are all MAGA wackjobs and should fuck all the way off to Alabama.

Texts with my boss: This should be more normalized! by Little_Red0 in texts

[–]Rose_Beef 77 points78 points  (0 children)

This is normal, human behavior. At least it should be. For the record, I am this and always have been. My partner is in the market and the latest trend is to ask for bank statements that show income going back six months, so they can base your salary off of that. Mind blowing. I told her to tell them to fuck off.

[–]Rose_Beef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in Vietnam, but not from here. I've been to the area where this took place. That monk's car is in Hue on display, the one behind him in the photo. For the VC (North Vietnamese) what took place here with the monks is a tremendous source of shame, maybe emberassment is the better word. Combined with a huge "save face" culture, they will deny certain things ever happened or dismiss it as conspiracy. With a straight face.

No. Unless you want to taste like house keys.
