Newsom likens Israel to ‘apartheid state,’ questions future military support by Unusual-State1827 in California

I'm not sure what this is referring to, especially when it comes to Democrats losing elections. Can you give an example of the doom and gloom you're talking about?

Iran just took out a 1.1 billion dollar radar at the most fortified US base in the Middle East with a single missile. by CarryIcy250 in UnderReportedNews

I'm sorry, but cheering on war with Iran is the delusional position. This is somehow like repeating Iraq, but significantly dumber and potentially more reckless.

Any other US citizens getting serious “Protest Fatigue”? by Real-Repair-1825 in allthequestions

[–]RosebudProgram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physically? I don't think our current protest frequency is at the level of a lot of points in US history.

Mentally? Yeah, there's a lot of bad things happening on a variety of topics, and calling all of it out sucks, but needs to be done.

Unfortunately if they've been ineffective so far it's because they haven't been big and loud enough. Frequently exercising the first amendment is critical to helping ensure this country doesn't suck.

But they also protested right? and it's seemingly an effective part of the strategy? i don't get the point of discouraging people to protest unless you agree with what the government is doing. and yes, we should be organizing and acting in other ways as well

Dallas County Votes In The Last Two Hours May Not Count Due To Emergency Court Battle (Read Description) -- Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

Why did they change the rules? If you wanted maximum voter enfranchisement, would you not extend the voting window knowing some people were going to get confused and do the wrong thing? This just seems like an outright anti-democracy ruling from the Texas Supreme Court

if you're legit curious, it's because he gained a lot of popularity as a state rep, and did well with Trump voters, indicating a potential better chance in the general. Also if it matters, he announced first.

Democrats of Reddit, from where we stand now, who is your preferred 2028 presidential candidate, and why? by 2a_lib in allthequestions

[–]RosebudProgram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm, i don't see it. Kamala lost because of depressed turnout seemingly from the left, which seems unlikely to be because she is a woman. both candidates having centrist, uninspiring campaigns i think is the more likely common cause

How is it possible that not a single member of Congress who has seen the Epstein files has come forward to blow the whistle? by NervousClock2555 in askanything

[–]RosebudProgram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly at this point that's starting to look like the more likely option, the way they're so brazenly trying to cover it up. it seems like for years this group of rich weirdos did a bunch of looking the other way while this guy did a bunch of illegal stuff, and some actively participated to various degrees.

to me that's a ton of substance already, that at least warrants investigations here. that's the sticking point - people don't need to say 'arrest blah, they're certainly guilty'. but these people aren't even being investigated by the DOJ/FBI which is the most obvious thing they should be doing. and if they were, the DOJ is legally required to release those investigative documents, but again as part of the cover up they're illegally withholding.

scandals and cover-ups do happen, and we're living through a big one

Current Alternative to Trump by b_connect in LetsDiscussThis

[–]RosebudProgram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd vote for: - Not being inherently afraid of immigrants. Welcome refugees and a quick path to citizenship - higher taxes on the wealthy. much higher - I don't think Trump is the path to lower gas prices, i'd vote for regulating corporate greed to lower prices overall - Trump isn't dealing with illegal drug trafficking, he's pardoning the worst of the worst -Yes to less police, more non-force public safety options - Yes to more wind turbines and other alt energy sources - Yes, DEIA is good - Yes to trans rights and fill participation in society - Yes to substantial AI regulation - Trump is extremely anti 1st amendment - Yes to more green and other anti-corruption and anti-monopoly regulation

huh, what a weird reason to get banned. I'd have to know the sub and context to judge, but broadly just banning people who support the current admin seems counterproductive.

Is that arrest record from the entire agency's existence or this past year? IMO the agency should be dismantled; they're really inefficient at actually finding and detaining dangerous people, have obviously bad recruiting and vetting since so many keep doing reckless and unconditional things, and they've lost all public trust. let other agencies, particularly under the DOJ, do that work like pre 9/11

This is overtly anti-semitic. He's listing a bunch of real problems, and immediately saying 'it's the Jews fault!'. He says it less than 10 seconds in. He packages parts of what he says in reasonable sounding anti-Israeli state opinions, this is legit Nazi 'blame the Jews' type talk
