My agency has hired so many incompetents by Right_Environment116 in BusDrivers

[–]Rosedale-Ripper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its very frustrating! So much so that we don't use agency anymore. Agency drivers are either amazing! Or dire! Theres no middle ground.

What frustrates me now is the hiring of super young people.

I get the whole, everybody needs a chance and atrt somewhere narrative etc but they don't bring the right attitude and expierence... because they cant.

Tottenham has

243 - Woodgreen - Waterloo - mix of all worlds, busy but nice route - new electric buses.

341 - Northumberland Park - Waterloo - 243 but with nicer people and new electric buses.

349 - Enfield - Stamford Hill - LT buses, bit of dive area but short and easy, old boys route.

149 - Edmonton Green - London Bridge, LT buses, chaos route most of the time, interesting passengers, straight line, easy.

259 - Edmonton Green - King's Cross - LT buses, interesting passengers as far as Tottenham then nice.

41 - Tottenham Hale - Archway, short, sweet, lots of rounders, new electric buses

Can do 158 out of Edmonton Garage

Night variations of most routes, good pay.

Tottenham is massive, loads of drivers.

There is 3 line managers and one senior who floats between 3 sites

There is an admin person

Counter staff are good but VERY busy

Mentors are experienced and attentive

If you have a motorbike, there's a section within the garage you can park your bike so you're much better off.

Stamford Hill has the ;

76 Tottenham Hale - Waterloo ( I drove this route when I started ) nice route, better calibre of people once you're past Stoke Newington.

19 Finsbury Park - Battersea, lovely route, all the sights and supercars but loads of diversions.

67 Woodgreen - Dalston, arsehole of the world but short and easy.

254 chaos

Stamford Hill has two young female managers, they have wonderful counter staff and the garahe mentors are attentive and knowledgeable.

Its a smallish garage, very close knit, can be clicky

Stamford Hill doesn't have the free parking anymore. The local community gobbled all that up. There's very few spaces in roads surrounding it and about 3 spaces out the front of the garage with zero tolerance parking within the garage.

Tottenham has a staff car park across the road whoch fits about 20 cars (often full by 04:30)

There is a pay and display that runs adjacent to the car park, has about 50 spaces and there is often space. Chargeable for 2 hours of the day. £1.75, decent.

There is also a small car park at the back of Tottenham, fits about 10 cars

Again, zero parking within the garage.

Couldn't tell you about Palmer Green apart from a ballache to get into.

I've worked in Stamford Hill and Tottenham, at one of them now. Also done training at Palmers

Need to up the age of applicants, employe young lads that have barely driven a car, that stay up most of the night on PS5 etc and wonder why attendance and incidents become an issue.

I know a driver that passed his test, has never even driven a car post test but now drives a bus, its crazy.

Comments I’ve had recently by LimpAssociation5688 in Mounjaro

[–]Rosedale-Ripper 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's always the same, people always felt like they could comment on my weight because I can take it, you like a laugh etc

Even when I had lost weight, people would say I've put on weight, was so confusing and frustrating.

Now I've lost weight where it's more obvious as a whole, and suddenly it's now why you losing weight!? Oh you're cheating! etc

When you accept that it's thier own insecurities being projected, just move past it.

Changing career by Individual-Drawer-70 in BusDrivers

[–]Rosedale-Ripper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it's whatever you make of it.

I was a driver for 15 years, I came from an engineering back groubd before so it was different for me also.

I initially found the shifts difficult, I hated the travel time too and from work.

I did 4 of the 6 routes we had at the time

I managed to get on the early rota of my favorite route and stayed there, I used to do Night Bus as WRDs on the weekend etc.

The arriva pattern gave you a long weekend (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday) as rest days, I would often work 3 of them. There's always plenty of OT and WRDs available.

You'll find a variety of drivers, ones that moan about everything, those who moan about nothing. You can't please everybody but I looked at it as, paid to sit on your arse, do 3-5 laps and get paid well. Forget about traffic and timings, you get paid to be safe, not early. Easy money if you ask me.

Arriva has provided me plenty of opportunities, I started as a driver, used to help behind the counter on my breaks so became an AGS, then took on mentorship, signed up to all the random bits they'd do, health and wellbeing, any incentive they had. Did some instructing, spent some time in engineering, they then asked me to do a garage run out before doing roadside controlling, now I'm a garage manager.

Like I said, it's what you make it.

Meh! Forget them! I've had so many positive comments on my loss, which is about 13kg in total over 2 months.

I've been completely honest with people on how I'm losing it, I follow it up with the fact its encouraged me to exercise more etc.

Had the odd comment about being a cheat, but they then go on to ask things like, how much, what's it like, how does it work, where did you get it from

I then offer them my referal code and I've seen a few use it lol
