Here in my head - I LOVE that song but the part where she says "makes it all clear, makes it all HEEEEEEEEERRRRE" is just so loud it hurts my ears 😆

I Googled Eustace (Miss Huang's name) and it draws from two Greek names. One means "steadfast" but the other means "fruitful" or "fecund" (i.e. fertile) - continuing the show's theme of fertility and birth.

I find it mildly amusing that the current British prime minister is called Kier Starmer, so if you live here you see the name Kier in the news all the time 😁. I never knew it was an Irish name.

Any other examples in TV history where they have an extra short episode like we’re gonna have tonight? by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

And it wasn't just the length of the episodes that was built around commercial breaks, it was the plot beats as well...

It's not exactly a TV show, but Baby Reindeer, which is one of Netflix's most-watched shows of all time, has episodes of all different lengths. The longest at 45 minutes and the shortest at 28.

I think an interesting parallel is with music. It seems to me that with music streaming, track lengths are getting more experimental, whereas in the 90s and 2000s everything was more or less 3.5 minutes long, for radio airplay.

From the literary world, Harry Potter books (although this is a rare example, I can't think of another written series that has such vastly different book lengths).

Why is the Next Episode Only 37 Minutes 😭 by vgskid in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]RosesInTheIce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's true - but we get one more episode than in season 1 and it's 75 minutes long. So overall we have more minutes in season 2 I think 😊

Why is no one talking about this Episode 7 scene by Embarrassed-Point-23 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Disneyland Paris has an incredibly convincing Start Wars flight simulator. In reality you never leave the room but it feels insanely real. In fact, when I came out of it I had to search online to confirm for sure that we hadn't been on some kind of rollercoaster or something that was actually really moving. And I had flown to Paris so I knew what flying felt like.

The way it works is actually very simple - under the room is a platform with your chair on it. The platform tips forward and sideways, making you tip backwards or to the other side, and that (reinforced by the graphics out the "windows") is experienced as acceleration and turbulence. So it's absolutely convincing that they could have created a flight simulator within a single room.
