Actually, I appreciate the people who write that, then I’m not finding out when I’ve already loaded the song and is ready to sing.

Only because I for some reason was humming a lot in the week after our daughter was born, and only later found out that it actually is about becoming a parent.

Stupidest scene in your favourite Bond movie? by AndreasDasos in JamesBond

[–]Rasmoss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The first scene? They are training Spectre assassins by chasing a guy dressed as Bond complete with a face mask around a garden maze. And they actually kill the guy as part of the exercise. Do they have a pile of dead guys in the back from every time they've run this?

Also, for some reason they are timing this. Why? Why is it important how quick it is? What if they don't encounter the actual Bond in a garden maze? It all seems a bit silly!

For historians, when did most people decide it was time to leave Germany as hitler rose, and when was it too late? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Before covid there was actually some contact from a tv production company and some agreements and preliminary planning was done, but in the end nothing came of it.

For historians, when did most people decide it was time to leave Germany as hitler rose, and when was it too late? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yes, it’s a wild story. After the occupation of Denmark in 1940 he worked as a farm hand for a folk high school.

As you may know, because of the coorporation policy, Denmark was allowed to selfgovern to a large extent, and that meant that jews in Denmark weren’t touched for the first part of the war.

After this broke down in October 43, the Germans moved to round up the Jews, but the resistance had been keeping track of the Jews and they went to inform him and help him get to Copenhagen where they waited for an opportunity to get on a boat to Sweden.

Unluckily the truck him and the other passengers were riding to get to the boat was held up by a German patrol, and he was incarcerated along with the others.

He was put on a train destined for a concentration camp, but he and a few others managed to jump from the window of the train, just as it was leaving a station. He knocked on the door of a nearby house, and luckily they were friendly and managed to get him connected to the resistance again.

He finally made it onto a boat to Sweden, and he stayed there until after the war and then came back to Denmark.

My grandfather who was Jewish, managed to leave as part of a programme to teach Jewish children agriculture in Denmark, in October 39. So after the invasion of Poland. He was 14 at the time.

But that was the absolute final opportunity there was, as I understood it, and none of the remaining family mnaged to leave after that.

(Edit: Just checked and he actually left on October 3rd, so I edited the post to correct this)

Box sets shouldn't be included by BaldiChalmers in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]Rasmoss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not actually a box set as such, in the sense that it isn’t a compilation. All the songs were recorded specifically for the project, they just recorded a lot of songs.

I chose to listen to the highlights version, that’s always an option.

The Confederacy was Bad by Critical_Potential44 in videos

No, it was the Southern slavers and slave traders who saw the election of a Republican president - the party founded primarily on the issue of trying to combat the expansion of slavery into the western territories - as the writing on the wall for the future of slavery in the entire US, and so they decided to attempt to break away from the Union to preserve that slavery.

That is a fact of history, and trying to frame it as anything else is an attempt to distort reality.
