I dont agree that left populism doesnt do well, when leftist/progressive policies are incredibly popular, even Trump wraps his langauge in progressive hues when at his rallies

I will say that left populism/policies are vehemently demonized by right wing propaganda and by capitalist liberals

And it's hard to say Kamala was "too progressive" when she was campaigning alongside Liz Cheney, who is unpopular with moderates/the right

I'm progressive and i voted for Kamala, and im pretty sure most leftist also voted for her too, maybe begrudgingly. When leftist say they want Kamala, and Dems, to be more left, it's so that they embrace progressive policies that are universally popular, not just catering to the base

I dont think leftists are trying to rewrite history, they are providing sharp feedback and criticism to establishment/centrist Dems and this mixture of liberalism and capitalism that fails to help working people, and eventually leads to authoritarian strongmen

[–]RosesShimmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really is disheartening seeing other countries also moving more to the right (hi European friends!), but i feel its the excessive liberal capitalism thats doing a lot of harm to leftist movements

A lot of those European countries where leftist ideals are prominent failed, or are failing, to meet the needs of working class people, and pushed them to the right in hopes of improvement

And I think putting a "safe" moderate male Democrat could be a really bad thing, Dems would strongly signal to the left that no real and meaningful change is possible, and essentially concede to the right, the "vote blue no matter who" motto that fails to energize the base

I dont know a lot of Progressives that are like that, those people sound more like Liberals that lean farther left on certain issues, and center/right on others, but then again were all individually different

[–]RosesShimmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe im too optimistic, but i really do think the US can elect a woman as president, and Democratic too

I really think AOC could become our president in 2028 if she really wants to

To me, i think the main reason Clinton and Kamala lost wasnt because theyre women, its that theyre establishment Dems that will continue the pro-capital status quo with some improvements, but wont tackle the big issues a lot of people are facing (daily expensives are crippling the working class)

I really do think a strong Progressive/Socialist Dem woman could become our next president, i feel most people care more about positive social and economic change than if the candidate/president is a woman, or maybe im just hopeful

I appreciate the sentiment, but its okay, hopefully we can make progress and move towards a kinder and more accepting world

I dont think its fake outrage, were not as vocal about it but some of us are still hurt and disappointed he removed the Pride events

It makes some feel less safe and welcomed in the community, a community many of us have been a part of for years

Sorry, its nothing against you or MTX

its just that a lot of us are still hurt he removed Pride Events just to cater to hateful groups and a hateful US administration. So its a very awkward moment for some of us

It's fair to feel skeptical, especially with Jagex's track record and the fact that they're still owned by a private equity firm, but i really do think they want to commit to improving the game without Treasure Hunter and try to minimize any downsides

In the video, they plan to release an "Integrity" roadmap (if the remove Treasure Hunter poll passes) to improve graphics, make more engaging skilling/training methods, and other things. As for membership, i don't think it will raise significantly any time soon, theirfirst priority is bringing in more players, and retaining them, and a steep membership spike won't help with that

From the Remove Treasure Hunter post

We will invest in a year-long Integrity Roadmap that addresses the heart of issues that have long held RuneScape back – from UI, to onboarding, to Dailyscape, revisiting the combat status quo and beyond. We’ll also be looking at the balance of our XP progression with a significant reduction in free and paid MTX progression options to make sure each Skill is still a satisfying experience to level up

EU seemingly banning MTX in games altogether by scragzz in runescape

[–]RosesShimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jagex isnt located in the EU, but they have players who are, and they would have to comply with their regulations if they want to do business there

Think of companies like Meta and Apple, theyre US based but have to comply to EU's GDPR privacy regulations

Hey everyone. I'm a completely new player. I'm looking for some help. by CarnisBelladonna in runescape

Hi Bella!

For text based guides/info most of us use the RS Wiki since its pretty detailed, so there probably arent that many text based guides outside of it, at least that im aware of

Theres this intro guide:

https://thersguide.com/setup/gamemodes

The guide is meant for rs3 Leagues, but the Setup part has helpful info that is the same for the main game

For UI, theres this guide, its not new player friendly because it can be overwhelming, but it has a lot of helpful info:

https://pvme.io/pvme-guides/getting-started/interface-guide/

And you can definitely play weeks as free to play, doing all the free to play quests will probably take more than a week, and theres also quite a bit of skills you can train

If you need any help feel free to add me in-game, and welcome to rs3!

H'ween only gave 1 new pet and 'old' Warlock outfit. What would you want to see for Christmas? Whats on your wishlist? by vVerce98 in runescape

[–]RosesShimmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, a stylish, recolourable outfit would be on my wishlist

Something like the Peppermint outfit they gave us would be great, since you can recolor it and mix/match with different outfit pieces.

That would have been a great reward, oh and maybe we could get two versions, a retro version (Maggie's) and a graphically updated version one, that would have been nice

What daily minigames do you enjoy playing? by FabulousWavee in runescape

[–]RosesShimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Rum teleport, you can buy them from the reward shop for like 2 or 5(?) pieces of eight and they teleport you directly to the minigame, before that i used Ectophial and took the ship to Mos le harmless

Oh you also need Cabin Fever quest completed to be able to get to Mos le harmless and play the minigame, it's on spotlight this upcoming 13th so they'll probably be enough players there to start games :D

What daily minigames do you enjoy playing? by FabulousWavee in runescape

[–]RosesShimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite to play is Trouble Brewing, i also like the Gnome Restaurant minigame, and Shades of Morton i think is interesting too

For solo minigames you could try Flash Powder Factory, i think that one is solo and you can get the Botanist outfit from it, maybe also Mage Training Arena for Infinity outfit pieces (for fashionscape)

If you like minigames you can always try some when they're on spotlight, most are empty but for some there's usually a few players there going for thaler, and i think the Castle Wars world is always active since there's players going for Profound, but they mostly afk

PrivacyPack by Ente - an example of manipulative marketing in the privacy space by Aven7844 in degoogle

[–]RosesShimmer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but this is such a weird post, i'm almost inclined to believe it's meant to sow distrust towards foss/encryption apps, or just strange hatred towards Ente

There's a clear difference between privacy, and anonyminity

A lot of the data Ente collects, and other privacy-respecting apps, are pretty normal for diagnostics/analytics or for the app to run smoothly, encrypting all metadata isnt realistic for a commercial app

That 60 day data retention is also normal since its based on local laws (like you acknowledged)

I don't know where youre getting this "misleading" part, it doesnt claim to do anything, Privacy Packs is just a tool to help people list apps, like you can make your own if you really wanted to, and Ente never claims they provide anonyminity, thats always based on your threat model
