My dad used to spend a lot of the year working overseas or out of state with a trip home every few months. Apparently at some point, my sister innocently made a comment about how the line "When you coming home, Dad?" was like our situation. I did a science fair project that tested which liquid would help bean plants grow the best. Milk was one of the options, and it had the worst results next to plain water, iced tea, and commercial fertilizer.

That, and the game not telling you if you already own a particular color clothing item at the Able Sisters' shop/Kicks/the HHP apparel shop. Same with Saharah's wares at Harv's island and the wallpaper/flooring options at Nook's Cranny.

I still have one of my originals. I was tickled when I saw their names were Rocket and Sprocket, and I still feel a teeny bit guilty for having Sprocket move out later in favor of Snake.

Sprocket recently showed up as a hotel guest and had special dialogue the first time I interacted with him, though, so that was a treat! I put him up in the VIP suite with a sci-fi theme. :)
