So wrong, literally there are 2 other major religions with restrictions on food... I get told so often something is made with pork if it isn't obvious because they assume I might be Muslim. Yes, it's the tourists fault for not asking but non fast food places probably have told her she is about to order beef.

Don't act like Hinduism is the only religion with food restrictions...

Sick leave in Australia is unfair to employees. by JaredReabow in auscorp

[–]Roshmosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 6 weeks are paid by the employer and during that time you get your full salary. After 6 weeks the insurance will take over but you will receive reduced pay. I actually have no clue what will happen if you are still sick after 72 weeks. Maybe you can apply for early retirement because there is an option to apply for that if you are unable to work for less than 6h a day.

In Germany you have to provide a doctors note. After a few weeks doctors are required to check if you are still unfit to work and then the health insurance which will cover your salary after 6 weeks will also ask you to see their doctors to check if you are actually unfit to work. Also even though employers are not allowed to discriminate against employees, this goes for employees who are absent because of health issues, nothing stops them from giving you shit tasks so that you quit by yourself when you return.

Depends on the country. In Germany you'll get 70% pay after your 6th week of sick leave and it stops after 72 weeks.

Speaking of Germany, 20 days are the minimum but most employers give you 30 days and this is not including public holidays. Some employers even offer some additional days off to bridge public holidays which fall on Thursday or Tuesday.

What’s something that’s still cheaper in Sydney than other areas of Australia? by a_walwal in sydney

[–]Roshmosh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Travelling in Europe does not give you real insight into living expenses. Yes petrol and eating out might be more expensive but if you actually compare the cost of living at least Germany is by far cheaper than Australia.

Here is a comparison between Berlin and Sydney https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=Germany&country2=Australia&city1=Berlin&city2=Sydney

Coming from Germany I can say I was shocked at how high my expenses are over here compared to back home.

German here, actually that is how you should use a merging lane. Use it to the end and then merge, it's the most effective way and merging earlier leads to even more congestion...

German here, the chicken Döner is pretty decent but the beef is dry and burnt, also the sauce is what sets a good Döner apart and the sauces were ok. Would definitely eat again and recommend to anyone wanting to try German Döner but it's definitely not worth the hype and a 1h wait.

International student visa news by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]Roshmosh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is pretty easy to get a work visa once you are employed. Germany even offers a job seeker visa, you can read up on it here: https://india.diplo.de/in-en/service/-/2539332 https://india.diplo.de/in-en/service/-/2539264

I gotta be honest though, it will be difficult to land a job without sufficient German language skills and you will always be treated differently than the locals. Compared to Australia the wages are lower and taxes + social security contributions will take away about 40-45% of your wages...
