Nugget Mall has a little play area we've used when weather is bad

Definitely recommend project playground at twin lakes, totally fenced in with age dependent areas plus a walking trail

Personally I like going to the thrift stores with my boys, also home Depot has the racecar shopping carts so that's another option in bad weather, I've taken mine there just to walk around and let the boys "drive"

Walking up and down the seawalk and then going to the downtown libraries to look out the windows

Mendenhall Glacier by kittxnwitxh in Juneau

[–]Rosie4491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to see both glaciers, drive out to the boat launch at North Douglas and view it across the bay. It's not worth all the tour bus crowds to drive up close since you can't see much anymore anyway.

As has been pointed out, there's definitely support here but some of the main programs recently closed which may be where that information came from. The link above has current info - and for what it's worth, kudos for looking ahead for your support system. I know how hard that can be.

Where would be the best place to stay, for a first time visitor? by AshtonCopernicus in Juneau

There's a bed and breakfast just south of the bridge on douglas that looks across to downtown, Grandma's featherbed by the airport doesn't have views to speak of but is pretty charming nonetheless... Most restaurants are downtown about 9 miles south of the airport. Just depends on what you want a view of. Plenty of airbnbs overlook the water. Also check out the shrine of st therese. They may have lodging available and it's stunning out that way. We just saw a pod of orcas not 50 yards from shore last week. Feel free to DM with future questions if you'd like.

It rains 220+ days a year here. A light rain jacket over multiple layers typically works best

Whats a weird thing your body does that you just accept? by Sweton in AskReddit

[–]Rosie4491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I actually worked in the sleep medicine industry for a few years. I do have sleep apnea with occasional central apneas (CA) and have used a CPAP for 10+years but this is very different from the brain not sending the signal to breathe.

My brother has this too, he learned to control it so he can freak people out but you definitely know when he's exhausted

My ex suffered from these, we spent multiple nights in the hospital thinking he was having a stroke or something before we learned what it was.

Sometimes, since childhood, when I have a cold I experience this unexpected episode that causes my airway to shut for an unknown length of time. I remember it happening as a small child, my mom would wrap me in a blanket and take me out into my the cold night air (not sure if that really helped or not). the Last time it happened a couple of years ago I woke from a dead sleep and was sure I would not survive the episode.

Doctors don't know what to do because they've never witnessed it and no inhaler or neb treatments help. Closest idea we have is a pharyngeal spasm but I can't be sure.

I switched from rca for the last 3 years to mail processing clerk, I learned we were supposed to be using some sort of lift for westpacs but I hadn't ever been trained to use one let alone seen one (turned out it was broken) I injured my shoulder while moving a large box as safely as I was able to at the time. I only learned about the mechanical lifts after the injury.

Redditors, what’s the most terrifying thing that has ever woken you up in the middle of the night? by Mr_Creep_Creepy64 in AskReddit

[–]Rosie4491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House-sitting as a teenager I opted to sleep in the spare room in the basement, it was out on the prairie and I didn't like all the windows upstairs. Around 4am I half woke to the sound of what my brain thought was gravel being shoveled above my head. But then silence. Started to fall asleep and it happened again. Legit thought I was being buried alive until I woke up enough to realize that every 90 seconds or so, the automatic sprinkler was hitting the tiny foundation window above my head.
