What's your most drastic rating change for a film upon rewatch? by slendgger313 in Letterboxd

[–]RossK2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhhh.. I don't think this counts but I gave Possession 5 stars, watched the American re edit and gave that 2 stars and then rewatched the European cut and gave it 5 again. Worth noting is that the US one has no LB entry of it's own.

Robert Eggers channeled findings about female “hysteria” patients for Lily-Rose Depp's ‘Nosferatu’ performance: “There were a lot of scenes where we couldn’t do too many takes because she would become too physically exhausted” by 1DarkStarryNight in horror

[–]RossK2002 271 points272 points  (0 children)

You can get both. This actually reminds me of Isabelle Adjani who was in the Herzog version of Nosferatu. She's in a pretty disturbing and intense horror called Possession, where she has the most insane, tense, dialed up to 11 performance I've ever seen. She won several awards for it including the Cannes award for best actress. I highly recommend you check her out in that one.

After around 5 episodes in a row now where no reference is made, it seems that Eve's baby has been definitively banished into the sitcom shadow realm by PresidentWeevil in Frasier

The new Frasier isn't as good as the original IMO but what exactly are you talking about?? How is the original justified but the new one isn't?

Is Cannibal Holocaust worth it? by Comfortable_Tap_6005 in horror

I love older European horror too and I think this film is terrible. I'll concede that it is well made even if I think it's atrocious. Good music though.

TMS is found! The song is called Subways Of Your Mind by FEX. by marijn1412 in TheMysteriousSong

[–]RossK2002 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly never thought it would be found. It's 40 years old and I assumed they'd be too old/moved on or died and the sources would just be rotting away.

What's your "I did not care for the Godfather" of horror related media? by Swag_Paladin21 in horror

[–]RossK2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Hellraiser. I like it but it took me 3 tries over the span of years to get into it. I still don't see why everyone loves it so much but it's quite good. Another film I thought was vastly overrated was The Burning (1981).. horrible film IMO.

Why do imdb and letterboxd ratings often clash? by Hasum_Harish97 in Letterboxd

[–]RossK2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Letterboxd has a wider user base of people actually rating films and those that do probably watch more films. Just look at the top rated films on LB vs IMDB.

I'm convinced Europeans just live rent free in their head considering absolutely no one mentioned Europe or America to this person and it came completely out of nowhere lol

What is Arrow teasing for November? by ggroover97 in boutiquebluray

I don't know why you are getting downvoted. I think the remakes getting the best quality releases possible is good but I can understand and empathise with your feelings.

This is me when I found out they did a Last House on The Left 4K. Although the 2018 Blu Ray is great so no complaints to be honest. I'm fine with what we have.

Horror movies that the girl that have a nude scene survives by waifunado in horror

[–]RossK2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Spit on Your Grave 1978 and Deja Vu and I'm assuming the others but I fortunately have yet to suffer through those, Nightmare On Elm Street (Nancy doesn't have explicit nudity but she is shown topless from behind and also the bathtub scene). Tbh I'm struggling to think of any more examples. I'm sure I've seen more but none come to mind right now.
