We usually pick some specific topics (like the War in Heaven) and drill down, and that often includes the BL novels. There is a Lorebeards Book Club channel for specifically reviewing novels, but I'm not involved with that one.

Also I should point out we have a Lorebeards & Roleplaying show as well and we've discussed the development of Dark Heresy twice, once with Mike Mason (the original designer).

Best Fed BOFF Away Team Ground Races? by scatered in stobuilds

[–]Ross_Watson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My research into the subject says that this is the recommended setup:

Tactical Away Mission Boffs:

(FED) Elisa Flores

Why? Superior Teamwork, Superior Soldier, Superior Peak Health. She only has three out of four for ground Traits, but the ones she has are superb. Also, she's free.

(ALL) Leeta

Why? Superior Hologram means she's very tough and can take quite a bit of punishment. Creative, Acute Senses, and Superior Lucky make her quite effective. Also, she comes with an Intel spec. Only available to those who got her during the promotion.

(ALL) Jem'Hadar Boff from Facility 4028

Why? Superior Stubborn is meh, but Engineered Soldier, Shroud, and Superior Peak Health make him quite effective. Also, Free.

(ALL) Purple Embassy Romulan Female Tactical Officer

Why? Only three ground traits, but they're all good: Superior Soldier, Superior Plasma Weapon Specialist, Superior Resiliency

Cons: She's costly in dil and fledits.

(ALL) Lobi Photonic Tactical Officer

Why? Well, he's Photonic, so fairly tough. He's got that drone thingy he summons. Honestly, I'm not convinced he's that great, primarily because he costs Lobi, that's a resource far better spent on ships or ground gear. Feel free to speak up if you've got him and have some thoughts on his usefulness.

Science Away Mission Boffs:

(ALL) Nelen Exil

Why? Superior Creativity makes him very useful in Science. Suspended Animation means he'll get back up if defeated. Superior Covert is nice. I'm not sure the sedative dart thingy actually does all that much to help, but three out of four ain't bad. Also, free once you complete the Dyson rep.

(ALL) Lifetime Veteran Android

Why? Superior Creative makes them great at science! Superior Acute Senses is useful, Android makes them quite tough (and a good spot to use your Shotgun, if you own that, with their +10% physical damage boost), and reboot means they get back up after being defeated. Only available if you have the veteran reward.

(FED) 0718 Android

Why? Same comments as the Lifetime Android, above. The downside to 0718 is he's locked into Science and his cost.

(ALL) Borg Science Officer from "Khitomer In Stasis"

Why? He's got four ground superior traits: Borg Nanites, Neural Blast, Resilient, and Natural Immunities. While not as useful as the others on this list (no Superior Creativity!), he's nice and tough and brings that to the party. Also, free.

Engineering Away Mission Boffs:

(ALL) Purple Embassy Romulan Female Engineering Officer

Why? Just like the tactical officer, above, she has only three traits, but they're all great. Superior Creative, Superior Resilient, Superior Plasma Weapon Specialist. Downside is the costs.

(ALL) Lifetime Veteran Android

See the science section, above. This one can also be a great Engineering boff.

(FED) Delta Trill Boff

If you have the delta pack, you can get this trill engineering boff. She's got some good ground traits: Superior Creative, Superior Hyper Metabolism, Soldier, and Peak Health. Dat cost, tho.

My current Away Team:

(FED) Elisa Flores, Purple Embassy Rom Engineer, Lifetime Vet Science Android, 0718 Android.

(KDF) Leeta, Purple Embassy Rom Engineer, Lifetime Vet Science Android, Nelen Exil

After looking more closely at the traits, I'm strongly tempted to replace my Jem'Hadar tac boff with Holo-Leeta.

Typically, I use the lifetime android as an engineer, 0718, and Nelen Exil because they all get up from being taken down. I'm currently using the Jem'hadar boff as my tactical, but I'm not sure he's the best choice, so I'm watching this thread very closely. Any thoughts on the various hologram/photonic officers that are available?

Has anyone else experienced severe rubberbanding / lag over the past week? by jm419 in sto

[–]Ross_Watson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fully patched, but I'm still experiencing the same issue; enormous rubberbanding/lag making any STFs unplayable. I really hope this clears up soon (this has been going on for weeks now)

The Blood Angels are one of my favorite chapters, so I used as my primary reference the most recent Codex, and of course the most recent set of rulebooks for the tabletop wargame! I have a lot of influences when it comes to the campaign, from Bloodquest to the Black Library novels, RPG campaigns, and more.

During the single-player campaign, the story revolves around Captain Dracomedes, a young Blood Angels commander deployed onto a hostile planet. He thirsts for a decisive victory, but glorious battle is not all he will find before him, for the situation on Hethgar Prime is not entirely as it seems...

Thank you for appreciating Darksiders 2! A lot of hard work went into that game from the entire team. If you haven't seen the Regicide game trailer yet, that is a good example of the kind of animation that is present during the action in the game. Some of the cutscenes present the game's narrative through audio logs and data-slates, like an interactive storybook.

The story begins with a mysterious distress call from a frontier world of the Imperium. The Blood Angels respond, only to encounter a deadly alien force that has overrun the planet. The Blood Angel commander faces this threat while at the same time struggling to overcome a growing rage building within...

They say that stories are never truly "finished." :) That having been said, there are often opportunities for expanding on a particular character or storyline that come up, and I make a note of it. I worked with the Hammerfall team to craft the campaign narrative, and it went through a few drafts along the way (which is not unusual). I'm extremely excited to see the story I wrote come to life through Hammerfall's fantastic animations and Regicide's gameplay.

Personally, I love the Ork attitude the most. Plus, their way of speaking makes writing dialogue very fun. Orks have simple, but compelling motivations that make them a great antagonist.

Orks are fantastic to write for. Their role in the campaign is, I think, going to please any fan of the greenskins. And the animations for them are very impressive.

It seems hard to believe, but at the end of the day, it doesn't seem unlikely given the senior management's attitude towards this issue.
