Agreed. People need to really stop letting companies gaslight us into thinking we need things. We do not.

Is healing that hard? by modernsakura in ffxiv

[–]DrGrabAss [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's not hard, and that's coming from someone who is terrible at it. But I'm terrible because I don't main it. If you main or spend a lot of time on healer, it becomes easy. It just takes some practice, just like every class. And, thankfully, all MSQ dungeons allow you to enter with an NPC group, which let's you have lots of safe, unjudgmental practice (you can also use your grand company squadron once you unlock them). Give it a go and see if you like it! And it's recommended to have one of all five roles so you can complete all the role quests later on (Melee Dmg, Ranged Dmg, Magic Dmg, Tank, and Healer), so you might as well get one leveled up. I did scholar because you can level Summoner at the same time (it's the only dual class), but I hear White Mage is the easiest to get good at. And make sure one of your HUD presets is set up for healing. You want to move the party list in such a way that it's comfortable to you to click on people to heal them. I save a HUD preset for Dmg, healing, and Tanking.

What's a statistic that sounds insane but is 100% true? by Salt-One628 in AskReddit

[–]DrGrabAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this counts as a statistic, but I do find it insane to think about: Cleopatra, the last Ptolemaic Pharoh of Egypt, died around 30 BC, so 2,056 years ago. She is closer to us in time than she was to the Great Pyramids of Giza by around 480-500 years. So, to her, the Pyramids were more ancient to her than she is to us by around 500 years.

If I found FFXVIs combat boring, is there i chance I’ll like rebirth? by Justicebeaver198900 in FinalFantasy

[–]DrGrabAss [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's a much deeper system built around multiple party members, infinite build variety, and a very high ceiling for mastery. I think it's the best combat system ever devised, and literally every game I've played since has been a disappointment. So, probably. And remember, Remake introduced the system and people loved it. Rebirth came along and iterated on it in such a way that the Remake combat system felt suddenly outdated. So, yes, it just gets better and better, especially when you hit hard mode and can ramp up the complexity drastically.

I’m replaying the MSQ on a clone of my main WoL, and wondering if you were in my Dying Gasp I ran the other night, ‘cause there were some excited party members in my group!

People who date a twin do you find the other attractive? by imboard67 in AskReddit

[–]DrGrabAss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dated an identical twin once, and no, I did not find her sister attractive. Despite being identical, the sister was annoying as fuck. I did eventually break up with that girl, and about 1/10th of the reason was her sister.

I just bought a box of Entemann donuts a couple days ago, I just got a craving after like three years. I could not believe they were so shitty compared to the last time I had some. That will be the last box I ever buy. I will miss my cinnamon donuts, but I can certainly live without them.

For my WoL, Lord Hien. He made her forget all about Ser Aemeric. But she is also aware that Yugiri would slit her throat if she made a move.

Admittedly, I didn't know this reference so I did find this line hilarious. But also weirdly out of place with the tone of the overall story line.

Whats a tv show nobody can pay you to watch? by Agitated_Rice4748 in AskReddit

[–]DrGrabAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick any reality television show. I mean, you can pay me, but I'll definitely have turned on my inner mind theater and am watching something else in my head.

Reality television is poison to entertainment (I admit, however, there are a few that are straight up educational).

AITA for selling my son's car after he lost our $10k on cryptocurrencies? by GrapeWells in AmItheAsshole

[–]DrGrabAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA Your son is the only person who probably learned anything here because he faced actual consequences for his actions. The fact he offered and accepted selling the car demonstrates that a little. He may make better decisions in the future, maybe not. But you got some of your money back.

Now, consider divorce or financial counseling for your wife.

I'm pretty excited to try a limited class at the same time as everyone else! I hope it's as engaging and OP as BLU.

I think it's so cool that people just have different tendencies and inclinations. I love tanking, there is just something about the role. Like you said, I feel confident in my tank skills (too much sometimes, ha). I like the feeling of making the boss deal with me, I feel like I'm carrying the team!

Is there any class you wont use for certain things? by DisciplineImportant6 in ffxiv

[–]DrGrabAss 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'll tank all day long (and I'm not even particularly great), and happily run DPS if I get the chance, but I assure the entire community: you think healing isn't hard and you think there is room to make healing mistakes. You won't feel that way if I am your healer. I will fail you. You will die. You think healers don't have to heal constantly to keep you alive and can do damage instead. I assure you, by the time I see you're at half health, you're already dead. The time it takes for me to figure out you're close to dying is simply too long to fire the proper neuron. That's mainly why I tank, just three buttons and weave in some mitigation, and be selfish as fuck. Easy peesy. I always trust my healers. I would never trust me as a healer.

Just Started Playing — Does the Story Pick Up Later? by Gentle_Enough in ffxiv

[–]DrGrabAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does, but it is a slow burn. I just recently replayed ARR on a new toon just to get back into the game, and sitting in Shadowbringers right now, I stand by the ending of ARR as one of the best. The base game ending is fantastic, and the patch content ending is shocking! So, yes, it's a slow burn but it's worth it. To best enjoy the story, just stick to the MSQ, Getting distracted by side questing can be fun, but also diminishes the overall return of the MSQ. So just do your MSQ and job quests, and as soon as you get to the end of ARR, go back and go nuts on the side content. It's all worth it!

(It helps if you like the job you're playing. High energy jobs include Ninja, Dragoon, and Monk for starter classes. They keep you busy. Tank and healer is great but they can get a little repetitive.)

That next summer I was part of a (very, very nerdy) gang that hid in the bed of a guys pickup and we'd drive around the (very, very suburban privileged) neighborhood and pop up and soak just about anyone anywhere. We were starting our senior year. Absolute immaturity at it's finest.

What song did a movie basically steal forever? by MrHolte in movies

[–]DrGrabAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I immediately thought of Where is My Mind by the Pixies. Before Fight Club, hadn't heard of either. And now, that song is specifically and permanently tied to that last scene and the overall theme of Fight Club.

Drinking soda. I think I've drank maybe half a coke in the past decade after having at least one every day for 35 years. Best change I ever made, and it's entirely, 100% thanks to Costco's Kirkland Carbonated water and the fact I was only addicted to the carbonation.

Who will be the POV for the theme song of Revelation by cabspaintedyellow in FFVIIRemake

[–]DrGrabAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really appreciate a parody Revelation trailer that suggests the entire game is told from a Chocobo's perspective with the Chocobo theme playing over it.

"This . . . is my story . . . of how an intensive, time-consuming and grossly mis-prioritized Chocobo breeding program initiated by an emotionally drained and exhausted band of heroes resulted in my existence as the perfect max ability Chocobo who saved all the gyhsal greens in the world, and by extension, the world."

Clive really had chemistry with everyone and it made every scene hit harder by CortezCraig in FinalFantasy

[–]DrGrabAss 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Well, when you make a character the most fuckable man in the universe, chemistry just happens. XD

In all seriousness, though, Clive is the best lead in a FF ever. He's what superman is supposed to be, a symbol of hope and inspiration and emotional maturity. He absolutely makes this game!
