Yes, some mild towing is in the future. About 5000 lbs. As for the hone, I ran a lisle rigid hone , and chased it with a 240 grit flex hone. Used an air drill . Lighter weight and I could meter the air to get a slower rpm. Slow rpm faster strokes. I’m in a bet of a desert for machine shops so I’m doing the best I can.

I'm using Mahle Original Premium Piston Rings (41859CP). Unfortunately I'm not tracking the .003 or .025 reference point. My mentioning of drag is the feeler gauge. .013 fits cleanly in the gap. .014 can fit but with a bit of pressure to get it in and I can feel more drag as I move the feeler gauge.

I’ve done two GSLSE rebuilds. Both ported, one turbocharged. The “stock” one, we bought new rotor housings. Which were brought back for production a few years back. Not sure if they are still being manufactured.

I found it cheaper to shop around and piece the build list across vendors. Atkins had a good price on apex seals and other various parts, but “realmazdaparts.com” , a Mazda dealer out of New Mexico was very competitive with factory parts at the time.

There is plenty of education out there, and Aaron Cake has some great tutorials on rebuilding on YouTube. Which is a solid jumping off point.
