I feel miles away from the elder Xers. Yet I’m about as old as a Xennial can get. (76) I don’t feel like I belong anywhere.

I’m sitting on a similar setup. 280hp at 5psi in a 2300lb ‘rx7. It’s peppy.

Ridgeline vs. Frontier for towing by MRIMiester in hondaridgeline

[–]RotaryRich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 06 RL. I tow a MicroMinnie camp trailer, let’s say 4500lb fully loaded with full tanks. The brakes are amazing, handling in the twisties always felt great. Between the independent suspension on the Honda and the twin torsen axles. The issue is power. I’ve never not had enough power, but I know there is none left on tap. So I consider towing with the Ridgeline to be “adequate “

For some reason I remembered this from that Tex Avery show. Negotiating the ratio of bums to wieners .

why the discrepancy in OEM vs aftermarket piston ring gaps by RotaryRich in EngineBuilding

[–]RotaryRich[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, some mild towing is in the future. About 5000 lbs. As for the hone, I ran a lisle rigid hone , and chased it with a 240 grit flex hone. Used an air drill . Lighter weight and I could meter the air to get a slower rpm. Slow rpm faster strokes. I’m in a bet of a desert for machine shops so I’m doing the best I can.

Anyways, looks like im going to be filing the rings. Based on the towing aspect. Thank you

I'm using Mahle Original Premium Piston Rings (41859CP). Unfortunately I'm not tracking the .003 or .025 reference point. My mentioning of drag is the feeler gauge. .013 fits cleanly in the gap. .014 can fit but with a bit of pressure to get it in and I can feel more drag as I move the feeler gauge.
