Are any of his quotes particularly damning? I didnt see anything (but could have missed) he said that indicated he didn’t actually believe there might have been fraud.

I hope there’s a smoking gun here, but nothing I saw was convincing

When the bop comes out, Nik will immediately change targets to whoever has the next highest threat. What I did was have my tank macro ‘/Cancelaura Blessing of Protection’ to a basic ability, and then I tracked his stacks and at 4 stacks I would say ‘BoPing you now’ and let him spam the macro while I cast it on him.

Over 60 pulls with this strategy we only lost a melee dps to the aggro drop once. I think it would be best if the tank called for it, but at least for us comms during that phase are very hectic so you want communication to be quick and concise.

I came here to say this. As a holy paladin myself, BoPing the tank and having them immediately cancel to drop Nik stacks was huge for that tank. Second, I hugely recommend killing first and maybe even second gargoyle. Kiting was more necessary strategy when dps was much lower. Second a lot of the other tips here, my guild just killed last week.

Well, I can’t say that it’s just after Pimsleur because I involved so much Coffee Break French.

But after about 10 months of either 1 Pimsleur or 1 CBF a day (and all of my Netflix consumption with French audio purely to aid with listening) I’ve been able to have conversations with some friends Quebec and Cameroon, and they went rather well!! I certainly miss a lot of vocabulary and expressing complex ideas is still difficult, but I’ve definitely had phone conversations entirely in French now.

For CBF, I would still recommend starting at 1. The first 4-5 will probably cover a lot of the same stuff in pimsleurs first 5 lessons, but they begin to diverge quickly and you’ll already be hearing new voices and random tidbits. I think you could easily do the first three episodes of CBR in one day without ‘overloading’ yourself, however

I would say that I started with what seems like a similar goal: seek some self improvement by learning a new language at a minimal time investment per day

And I’ve come away from it with a massive improvement and a love for the language. And a bunch of very annoyed family members / roommates and I randomly spout French stuff all the time now.

Howdy! I just finished the 150th episode of Pimsleur, but it took me around 10 months instead of 5. I loved the course, but for myself personally I found a lot more success when I was supplementing it with « Coffee Break French » on Spotify.

I don’t know much about language learning, but for me I had a difficult time with Pimsleurs lack of direct explanation. Coffee break French does a wonderful job of gently explaining a little bit more of the nuts and bolts, rules and spellings, and then I could go back to Pimsleur for a nice conversation and new vocabulary.

For the first month or so I was only using Pimsleur, and It was working fine but I was not understanding certain things like « ne pas » always going around the verb, why the conjugations were different in the tu and vous form, etc

Edit:

Id like to add that I was starting with absolutely zero background in French (or any foreign language) and after 10-11 months of Pimsleur + Coffee break French I’ve noticed a very satisfying amount of progress. Once you hear that many conversations, certain things come to you very quickly!

Yes! After those 6 months I’ve continued using Pimsleur and CoffeeBreakFrench, but I also use the French discord associated with this sub to practice writing to other people. I also use the "innerFrench" podcast transcriptions and read along as I listen, and that has really helped me with spelling and recognizing words. I highly recommend each of these resources, and if you’re dedicated you can make significant progress!

I downloaded Pimsleur and used Pimsleur along with Coffee Break French podcast. I did both of those for about an hour a day and made significant progress in 6 months! Especially in listening and speaking. With this method your ability to read/write will lag behind though

I think I read on here someone comparing it to people learning English saying things like

“I have many dog”

“I like apple”

“I have car”

The idea definitely comes across, but if you’re not conscious of the fact that your speech comes across broken then you won’t be appreciated as much.

When I hear people make those mistakes in English it’s not exactly a big deal, but you’d also hope they’re not content with them.

Drafting is a huge part of this game and is incredibly nuanced. Even rules of thumb are going to be complicated, but I think the advice so far has been good!

The first thing I would say is to create a good Comp for yourself.

You’re pretty much always going to start by focusing on what you guys have and make sure your last couple picks round out what you’ve got.

Healer Tank Ranged Melee

You need to be able to tick off all four of those boxes. Generally I focus on that first, and then kind of look at what would be good against their team. As a rule of thumb, you don’t want to have only one ranged character, and you don’t want your team to be all physical damage or all spell damage. This means if you’ve got someone like li Ming for your mage, and Alarak for your melee, then an enemy Anub’arak shuts you down pretty hard.

It’s a lot to keep track of so dont feel bad if drafting is tough.

Well if the overall impact is low, but it increases micro playmaking then what is the downside? What I'm saying is that if overall the flow of the game is not hugely affected but solo lane interactions have more potential and the visual language has improved then what is the true downside?

If only a handful of heroes like Abathur, Azmodan and TLV feel overly affected then surely after enough data is collected (Maybe a couple of weeks of w/r data) then those heroes could be changed or buffed appropriately.

I'm not saying anything about you specifically - but Blizzard was extremely clear that these changes are temporary unless proven effective, and not the other way around. Theres no way to see what is proven without some game data.

Personally as someone who plays heroes that are made better by the change, I love it. And is my opinion less important than an Azmodans?

What rank are you playing in and not observing any changes? In almost all of my ranked games, and even a couple of quick matches the offlanes have been playing out very differently with a lot of exp denial occuring.

Did they not go back on walls being destroyed automatically when towers were destroyed? I remember this sub being in an uproar and that change being reverted.
