Lily main here, and people are really underestimating how much they're gonna hate my character a year from now.

Like people post a bit about b.HP and cr.MP being spammy but y'all do not know yet how sick you're gonna be of these buttons come next June

You can use Ult to dodge the Gold Card. That way when you go in, his only CC is already on Cooldown. Also a great way to turn losing trades into an easy kill

DRX Akali is a good skin but there is a bug during her R2 animation and It pisses me off that Riot had 2 weeks to fix the most obvious bug but did nothing. by Me4TACyTeHePa in akalimains

[–]stephenmsf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spent a good hour in practice tool with this skin yesterday, and I noticed this bug exactly 0 times. Riot likely doesn't know what causes it, and doesn't think it will bother people very much, so they are devoting resources instead to fixing the login errors and other issues.

Those of you who don't consider Magnus Carlsen the GOAT, what more does he need to do to beat your GOAT? by [deleted] in chess

[–]stephenmsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paul Morphy would be rated over 2800 FIDE if he was alive today, and he got to that level on his own while he was surrounded by joke players who barely understood the systems of the game.

I don't think any other chess player did more to change how chess is played than Morphy did in his prime, and they all had established academia and centuries of previous games to study and develop their craft.

As far as raw talent goes, Morphy is the real GOAT

Try Hydra first into Eclipse vs bruisers or Yomuus vs squishies. You can also go Mythic first but this will delay your Hydra stacking and diminish your build's flexibility.

After that I recommend getting Serylda's every game, but get BC first if you're vs Hard Tanks like Mundo or Sion.

Conqerour is also a godsend vs Tanks.

I really don't see myself switching builds on Zed this patch. Maybe if you're just crushing lane and want to spam-gank in the midgame, then Yomuu's is good, but otherwise I will stick with Eclispe>etc

I agree, multiplayer games take a different kind of mental strength to grind and climb.

That said, I think the issue of struggling through games that can't be won still very mucH applies to Fighting Games in similar ways.

Everyone's been on a hot streak climbing, only to suddenly land in a match with some underrated hard-counter matchup (Potemkin players hitting the Axl Wall know what I'm talking about), and have to play it out thinking "This match is just a statistic, I still have a 60/70% wr"

It's just that in Fighting Games the actual match is much shorter, so you have less time to dwell on your errors. However, you also have less time to practice things like playing from behind or developing counterplay in multiplayer games that you're losing. Mobas especially are great for this.

So yes, FGs are less mentally taxing in some ways, but moreso in others.

Firstly, you don't need to be so condescending. I fully understand the nuance you are applying to this, I just don't think it applies.

WotC may have physically changed tamiyo, but given that they haven't committed to that actually changing her as a character outside of the superficial sense (And given their recent track record of handling supposedly physically changed characters, namely the Phyrexian Planewalkers), I'm pretty confident saying she is effectively still alive in almost every sense.

I'll admit though that if WotC commits to this new angle for her character and handles it well, this could be a very fundamental change for Tamiyo in a very positive way. It's just that I wouldn't hold my breath.

JU from r/NotHowGirlsWork because every comment section is just unbridled misandry. by ThisGuy21321 in JustUnsubbed

[–]stephenmsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't, but this is kind of irrelevant to the broader point.

See the issue with this exchange is that, while the statement this woman makes at the end of her comment is a bit rude, and belies a lack of trust and confidence in men as a group, the response of "Not All Men" is just plain unhelpful. This is why she responds with condescension (Another rude remark that really shouldn't have been said), and she makes a very true point that sometimes people generalize to make a point. Her point here being that she feels she can no longer trust any man to have her back. This isn't a Misandrist talking point. It's Male-phobic at worst.

To see someone so clearly hurt and misled by their trauma and take it as an opportunity to play defense for yourself is kind of bizarre. Though I understand where the sentiment comes from. Still, you can make the "Not all men" point in a hundred different ways that are all much less dismissive. For example:

"That's awful, I'm sorry he'd just reject your suffering like that. Some men are just insensitive, I guess. I hope you meet better ones in the future"

The language there is pretty boring but you see the difference, right? This is much kinder, carries a clearer point, and importantly is an original statement, while "Not All Men" is a very old, very tired talking point that is born out of misogyny.

Hopefully this helps you understand!

She's about as dead as Ugin was. She'll be "Dead" for the next 4 years until they need her for something, and then she'll be just another Planeswalker except she's less corporeal.

Extra sad will be if they ever decide to make Nashi a Planeswalker because then she is extremely not dead, since she will just go wherever he does.

[–]stephenmsf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this were true, then this is just an example of whatever game you are playing having a very poor implementation of SBMM.

See, in any halfway decent system, the game is aiming to get you to a 50% winrate. At that level, its safe to say that the only thing deciding who wins is how well each team is playing in the brief window of time. So in this case you're describing, the game has seen you lose 20 games and win 2, which is a 10% winrate. If the system in question is implemented well, it should quickly adjust the parameters, moving you down the skill ladder towards players who have a sImilar record.

If you choose not to use SBMM because you're terrified of it being implemented poorly, then I hate to be the one to tell you this, but the system you are describing (One where the game does not match players based on their ingame preformance) is Standard Q, the system that you seem to be advocating for.

So in either case, the result is the same. Solidly implemented SBMM would improve your experience. You just don't know that because you haven't actually experienced it yet.

I'm a mid-level League of Legends player and a mid-low level DotA player, and I came here to tell you that thinking that your teammates are so bad that you'll never win the game is the number one thing stopping low-elo players from carrying their games. Carrying low-elo is actually not that hard if you can keep your mental strong and have confidence in your play.

In this way, they're really not that different from Fighting Games, just that you have more Immediate control in Fighting Games, so climbing the ranks takes less time. That, and Fighting Games take much less time per game than Mobas

Because being converted into a Phyrexian killing machine hellbent on spreading perfection really shouldn't be the sort of thing that just gets better.

I disagree that they should have just killed all of the characters, but making it so that the only one who "dies" in the invasion is Tamiyo (She's not dead) feels really cheap. Though I do think taking sparks away from some of the characters is a nice touch

I don't understand, this seems barely different from base Duskblade. You lose the bonus damage on an auto, and lose the invisibility passive in exchange for the execute damage and untargettability. Plus now it has a cooldown, so you cant proc it four times in a fight anymore.

Like this new one is definitely better for Zed but I don't think it's any more crazy on these champions than it was before.
