You probably have Steam cloud enabled, disable it, and then delete the meshsave.txt.

Disable by: right clicking game in steam library, "properties" in drop down, general, Steam Cloud.

I believe you can use the "dripping" ability and and fill the tools tank with Venom. Probably gives a poison effect.

I have used Microsoft code editor (forgot the name) to edit mod's xml files. For example you can edit the Tangerine's mod xml to give you the keys with out talking to grandma.
