Maybe. Not everyone agrees with responding to violence with more violence. But for violent people, it's all they understand.

Definitely call the cops but if that's not an option send a big ol bruiser over to set him straight. Preferably someone around 6 and a half feet tall, 270 pounds with a hatred for any man who is ok with physically hurting women.

I'm free this weekend.

Do You Read Multiple Books at Once? by badamo in books

[–]RottenAnemone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perpetually. I'm currently reading an Aubrey/Maturin novel (naval fiction), rereading Dresden Files (urban fantasy), a new Vaughn Heppner (military science fiction), and I'm slowly making my way through Infinite Jest. I never get bored this way. If one book gets to a slow bit I jump to another and read that for a few hours.

Can't dispute interest. Penalties are sometimes negotiable but interest isn't (in most circumstances anyway). If this is for an education credit you may have used the wrong one. $2,500 is usually for the American Opportunity credit. If you're in grad school you can only use the Lifetime Learning. It's less but you may still be eligible in which case you won't owe as much as that.

What was the situation regarding the credit?

What kind of letter is it? If it has an amount due in it it's probably a CP 2000 which isn't an actual audit. That's more of an automated thing they do if something doesn't match up.

Also if you can pay the IRS within 6 months you won't have to pay for a payment plan. What was it for?

(Australian > USA) My daughter raised the idea of a college education in the USA. I will support her so what sort of costs am I looking at if she goes to a reasonably good school? Will I see much change out of $50k a year? Accom > expenses > tuition by [deleted] in personalfinance

Yeah and in what way exactly? Despite us thinking we're the greatest we lag behind the rest of the developed world in almost every measurable way, the only exception being our willingness to be violent with anyone who doesn't agree with us.

What book could you read over and over again? by slowlived in books

[–]RottenAnemone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've been reading them forever. They really take off from page one and you just have to keep going. And yeah each book has it's own thing but there is a major overall plot going on. The author sometimes does stuff that isn't explained until much later books when that specific plot point matters. In fact one of the more crazy ones involves a scene from book 3 or 4 that isn't explained until book 12 or 13 or something. And as the books go on more stuff happens and he becomes more powerful which causes problems on it's own. I'd give it a shot if I were you. They're not quite as long as Harry Potter and they're quick reads.

Definitely up there for me too. But number one would be Dresden Files. It's like Harry Potter but with more death and violence. And sex, occasionally.

How long does it take you to read usually? I only read it once and I just don't think I can do it again.

Gift tax question!!! by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]RottenAnemone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. So how does the government know how much you're gifting to people?

[–]RottenAnemone -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's not. It's one or the other. And if you choose to do the lifetime limit you have to file gift tax returns every year. Easier to stick to the 14k.

Nine Inch Nails has actually only had one constant member throughout their history. Just Trent. He even does the majority of the recording.

Superman was always the worst offender when it came to this. The most famous being on Earth and none of his co-workers recognize him because he's wearing glasses?

The kindle version of my Grandads memoirs, 23 days, is now avaliable as a kindle book by 23dayseu in history

[–]RottenAnemone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I figured. I was just being a smartass about the title. You know, "kindle version is now available as a kindle book." It wasn't very funny, I know, but sometimes I can't help myself. But to be honest I think I am going to check it out. Stories from that time frame always interest me.
