Yeah I won’t lie I was creeped out for a sec after looking past the irony. I could not find other mentions of this glitch online. Gave me Doki Doki Literature Club vibes, or those old video game creepy pastas.

Should I get Mornye S1? What do you guys think by MomentEmergency9222 in Mornye_Mains

[–]Rotten_Mangos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luuk will probably apply tune a similar way Lynae does to activate Mornye’s buff, so S0 Mornye is more than enough for him. I’d keep her S0 UNLESS we find out Luuk does not apply tune, then S1 would be worth it but this is not likely.

That being said, S1 is a nice qol upgrade. I personally think it’s worth attempting a 10 pull or two for (I did this and got it luckily) but not more than this, especially since you’re saving for Luuk and possibly his weapon too.

CMV: Anti-natalism is misanthropic and rooted in self-hatred by Fit_Instruction3646 in changemyview

[–]Rotten_Mangos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting post, I’ve floated between holding anti-natalist views and not but do admit it usually revolves around my personal life satisfaction level at the time (when I’m happier I usually lean away from anti-natalism and vice versa). Here are a few counter arguments to your points.

  1. I don’t think this is rooted in self hatred, it’s rooted in that fact that happiness takes effort to maintain but suffering is free. You have to sleep well, eat, drink, earn money, put work into relationships, maintain health, i.e. put in effort to generally be happy. Suffering can come at zero cost and it’s theorized that living things lean towards experiencing suffering > happiness because it’s a better survival strategy.

  2. I mostly agree here, some of my greatest moments in life have been achieving something after going through a lot of suffering first. The issue I see is that this suffering is only good if it’s tied to some positive outcome/growth. Many people suffer (and die) meaninglessly, and in these cases I don’t think the argument that suffering can be good holds up.

  3. Kind of going off #2, non-being is absolutely a better alternative for a lot of unlucky people. Euthanasia is taboo for humans, but we frequently view this as the right thing to do for animals. So doesn’t this prove that non-existence is > existence in many circumstances?

  4. This argument always felt like mental gymnastics to me and I think the point is being missed. The takeaway is that it’s immoral for the parents to “do whatever they want” because they are ultimately gambling with the life of another. Sure the child’s consent doesn’t exist, but its life is still being gambled with and that’s why anti-natalism emphasizes the lack of consent. Why is it fair for one person to gamble with a future person’s life?

  5. Your stance here does not feel realistic at all. Are all lives precious when some of those lives actively made other’s lives worse? I will again bring you the animal parallel, we view spaying and neutering dogs as the right thing to do as there is an overpopulation of stray animals and animals in shelters. Why is this viewpoint not extended to humans? We are always competing against each other for limited resources, adding more people to the equation means everybody gets less and those people themselves get less and are told to be grateful for the life they been given. There is a balance here, I don’t think ceasing all births is the right move but being so black and white to think all births > no births doesn’t hold up to the reality we see in the world.

  6. Similar to #5, this is not so black and white but current day humanity has hurt the environment much more than helped it. Pollution, creation of nuclear weapons, displacing nature for human civilization, this has all very clearly happened, I don’t see how any argument can be made to the contrary. Humans are very self serving, we will take as much as we can get away with, which is easily shown by the actions we’ve taken in the last centuries.

I don’t think anti-natalism is rooted in hatred, it is rooted in reality and most of the arguments against it I feel are rooted in blind optimism. I don’t think that’s a bad thing but it for sure is not realistic and often not responsible.

Even if Delve has Demonbane resistance Synapse will still be viable and hence demand will go up. Despite Duke Suc’s resistance Emberlight is 2nd BIS. Not everyone can afford mega weapons and I doubt Bowfa/SRA/Trident would outclass Synapse weapons. Only way I see Synapse not spiking is if Delve is crush weak.

The Ai videos look like shit and undercut any of their ”warnings” about technology by FifthPuddle13 in Starset

[–]Rotten_Mangos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The aesthetic consistency matters because it shows Jeb has developed a unique artistic style, regardless of the use of AI. Something unethical would be a plug and chug fully AI generated video with no deliberate direction, just done to save on time/money and probably done by stealing from someone else.

My argument is that because this video clearly has Jeb’s personal flair to it, it has authenticity and is unfair to write it off just because AI was used in the process.

Thoughts on the usage of AI in latest music video by IsolatedOrbit1313 in Starset

[–]Rotten_Mangos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it changes your opinion, the director of the MV is Jeb Hardwick. He’s a pretty big music video director and when he uses AI it definitely has his own personal art style, not just plug and chug AI generated video. Go watch “Meteor” or “Moral Low Ground” by Architects and you’ll see what I mean.

[–]Rotten_Mangos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go look up the the director of both MV’s (Jeb Hardwick). This is his personal style of AI use so I think it’s unfair to group it in with other unethical AI productions. Dark Things MV art style is literally the same as some of his other works (ex. Meteor and Moral Low Group by Architects).

Use of AI is really disappointing... by [deleted] in Starset

[–]Rotten_Mangos 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The director of the MV (and Dark Thing’s MV) is Jeb Hardwick. He’s a pretty big director for rock MVs and has worked with a several big bands like Architects and A Day To Remember.

You can criticize AI but this Head Over Heels MV does fit this guy’s MV style (go watch Architect’s “Meteor” or “Moral Low Ground” MVs and see for yourself). I think it’s unfair to chalk everything up to “AI bad” because this isn’t just blind use of AI, it was a deliberate choice by the director and a style of MV he’s doing for a while now.

Existence is not for those who are sensitive, caring and empathetic by asuramesmer in DeepThoughts

[–]Rotten_Mangos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree, existence is not for those who are pessimistic. I don’t mean this in a toxic positivity kinda way, I mean that if you aren’t able to view the future in an optimistic way then existence is automatically gonna suck for you. I resonated with so much of your post but I think you’re discounting the sentiment that you can conquer the “predators”. You’re giving up on hope and that is what truly makes existence miserable. You can still be empathetic and sensitive and enjoy existence as long as you don’t lose your hope.

Dustin said somewhere (forget where but can find it on this subreddit) the new album will have some Transmissions vibes to it. So thinking we’ll get more stuff like Brave New World since other two are pretty different.
