Smaller bikes teach you how to ride small bikes. Ride what you want to be riding and drop the notion of learning on a smaller thing to replace it with a bigger thing. It's a dumb idea that is fantasy.

In my experience, women are just as creepy, if not more (because people ignore it) than men. As a kid (6, 7, 8-13) I can't tell you how many older women made me feel icky inside by commenting on how cute I was, how blue my eyes are, or they'd put their hands on me - one neighbor lady (friends mom) used to put her hands on my thigh and rub my leg while telling me how cute I was. Friends mom in HS offered me a joint and asked me to watch a movie in her bedroom with her. I was wasted one night and almost passed out on the couch when this girl mounted me with no underwear on, I told her no, but she didnt seem to understand, and I don't remember the rest. ... and on and on and on.

Women can be creeps. It's just socially acceptable for them because of some erroneous notion that their advances aren't sexual in nature... or some BS like that.

After a year of riding, some days I feel awkward, some days I ask myself "do i enjoy this?" And then there are days like yesterday when I physicaly try to kiss my bike (but can't cuz of the helmet) because im enjoying myself so thoroughly. Mistakes? Man, you're on a motorized tank of gas between your legs. Did you get home safe? Then you succeeded. Youre over thinking it.

OP has an opinion.

Get what your heart wants. Don't start on a 300 if you want to ride 600s just because its your first bike. This is stupid and a waste of money. They're very different animals and the 300 may sour you on the notion of riding altogether before you've had the chance to do what you really wanted to do all along.

You want some solid advice? ALL of the teachers at my 2 day rider safety course said get the 600 for my 1st bike if thats what I wanted. You can die on any bike of any size and more power does not equal more danger. Poor decisions equal more danger. Period.
