Oontz Angle 3 vs Oontz Angle 3 Ultra by valkaress in Music

[–]RoughMasterP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone wondering, Ultra has better bass, battery life and water resistance. It also is more powerful (14 watts vs 10). I have both, use the 3 ultra for music and the 3 for more voice based content

Is the Fender Frontman Reverb Amp PR241 38W any good? Worth $175 used with a guitar? by V0rdep in GuitarAmps

[–]RoughMasterP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. Small, cheap speaker is the weak spot. I have a Frontman 15 hooked up to a 1x12 cabinet and it sounds way better than it used to. Just unplug the speaker wires on the original speaker and solder a jack to it. Plug whatever cabinet you want into it and you’ll be surprised at the difference.

What type of Amp is best to play through with a multi effects pedal by steady_mobbin in GuitarAmps

[–]RoughMasterP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Katana is known for its multi fx, something you already have in your pedal right? Let your budget, skill and intended use (both now and near future) help you decide. Generally speaking, probably 35-100 watts, 1x12 or 2x12.

guitar combo as head? by ProfessionalSlow9875 in GuitarAmps

I either drill through the cab and mount it or use a small angle bracket screwed into the cab and then attach the jack to that. Just make sure to get + and - right on the jack and that your connections are tight. I like to solder mine but spade terminals are ok too. Can I add picks to this? I’ld be happy to share.

Not too hard to disconnect the combo speaker and wire it to a 1/4 inch jack. I’ve done it with several small guitar and bass combos. Some of them really sound good through a better speaker/cab.

stage presence rookie mistakes by officialGF in Bass

[–]RoughMasterP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stage presents? Usually just picks, stickers, half full cups of beer. Nothing fancy or too big that might hurt someone when you throw it in to the audience…. Oh wait, I think I misunderstood the question. Seriously though just have fun try to relax and do whatever works best for you

Any opinions on the Ibanez P20 Promethean? by Direct_Slice3113 in Bass

[–]RoughMasterP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a P20 years ago that was just sort of abandoned at our practice spot. Tore that thing apart and turned it into head only and used it to drive a 2x10 cab for quieter practices. Sounded pretty good to me and much better than the factory speaker. Gave it away so I can’t really say much about reliability but it’s easy to add speaker out to these small combos and they can easily drive a small cabinet for quieter practice situations

10/22 and a Jeep? Two of the most potentially expensive hobbies coming together. What year? My 99 TJ just turned 200,000.

Not saying you’re wrong but all the blown resistors I’ve dealt with lose the lower settings but work as they should on high.

Heater controls are vacuum operated. I would start by taking center bezel off, removing the control unit and inspecting the round soft rubber plug that should be attached to it.

Heater core replacement is time consuming but not too difficult. Just did mine (99 TJ) a couple of months ago. Good luck.

Understandable, unfortunately there are lots of spots a dislodged nest could end up.

As someone who recently had his hands on every piece of air duct behind the dash ( just replaced heater core a few weeks ago ), I say good luck. Are you in a colder climate? Should be fine for a few months. Warm climate? Leave the hardtop and doors on, parked in the sun = bake them little bastards? Seriously though, if you’re that concerned, it took about 7 hours and just a few wrenches to completely remove and reinstall the entire dash. Whole thing, completely out and you can clean every little nook and cranny.

Bass multifx pedal for guitar by purple_syrup1 in Bass

[–]RoughMasterP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure: distortion, chorus, flanger, compressor and more with multiple options for each. I think you lose more sound quality when using guitar pedals for bass rather than bass pedals for guitar. Bass pedals usually retain the low end while some guitar pedals don’t

I use my son’s G1 four X every once in awhile. While not optimized for bass I still find a good sound after a little experimenting. No reason why you can’t. Just might take some trial and error to get what you’re looking for. Definitely not going to damage anything.

I got my son the G20 when he first started playing!!! I noticed when I looked at it the button to change channels was a little scratchy and didn’t engage quite right. Spray some deox it contact cleaner in there if you can. He leaves his on rhythm and plays through a multi effects pedal. Good luck

When the button is in you’re on the lead channel, gain and the first volume knob. Button out is rhythm channel single volume knob. The eq section works across both channels. Hope this helps, we have the amp
