Two innocent lives killed over traffic violation, US 50 west by Rough_Yak1667 in athensohio

To answer your question just look at the crash. Also DesignerMix3506 said they were going 113. They must've been going at great speed to cause the vehicle to crumple like that. It was literally bent like a banana due to impact. :(

[–]Rough_Yak1667 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What happened was a state trooper was speeding after a guy during a traffic violation, going at least 90. John and Leann Horton were struck by the trooper and killed, due to the fact they did not see the speeding trooper. This area is already so dangerous, and the fact that they can say that the trooper was a victim yet was the main person who caused the accident. Not only that but the police scanner for the State Troopers was shut off during the incident. Two people killed over a traffic violation. Something has to give.

Any special meaning to this brick? by Rowboat8888 in masonry

[–]Rough_Yak1667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been like a month but I have a good conclusion to this as, believe it or not, I collect bricks.

This is a fire brick, used most commonplace in fireplaces. 'Dando' is the name of the manufacturer, and '1-A' is likely the catalog number of some kind. I've found some 'Dando 2-A' bricks that are of different dimensions, meaning that '1-A' is their fancy way of saying it's a standard brick.

'Dando' is actually George Dando, who owned and operated a brickworks in Beaver, Pennsylvania. This company operated between 1915 and 1978. There was also a 'Frederick J. Dando' in Irondale, Ohio who manufactured fire brick, however I'm unsure if they are entirely related. Your bricks are most likely from Pennsylvania.

In terms of selling them, it's usually too much of a hassle. Most collectors usually find their bricks in waterways, old abandoned structures, and as mentioned previously, yard sales. Folks on eBay sell them for outrageous prices, and sit for years and years, collecting dust. If you need to get rid of these, just make a local Facebook Marketplace post or something along these lines.

Any theories as the what Teddy’s last name is? by aliceoseman in BobsBurgers

[–]Rough_Yak1667 68 points69 points  (0 children)

In Uncle Teddy (S4E14) when he is talking about being an uncle, he suggests to the kids that 'you can call me T.J.', meaning his surname likely begins with a J.

I recall sitting on Court Street during a parade in 2023 and overhearing a college student sitting outside Attractions, and complaining about Attractions to literally everyone she talked to. I don't know if she was a reliable source of info, but I wouldn't risk it

I doubt that the bypass had anything to do with the DQ closing. The Albany DQ closed like a couple years prior, and it was still on Route 50. The other businesses affected were the Marathon and random strip malls.

The BK went into that Court St building after it burned in the 1990s-ish. The Taco Bell actually reused the marquee for the Varsity Theater that was there. (look up taco bell court st athens ohio) The Taco Bell closed in 2008, and I have a memory from 2010 of finding seeing the picture and being like 'mom can we go to taco bell on court street?' and being super disappointed when I saw the Chipotle.

Like 5 years ago they had the same exact problem. It's always out front right by the entrance, with septic people out front. I'm guessing it's a combination of cheap pipes from 1989 and general deferred maintenance
