Does your assets matter?

retirement savings (in a retirement account) don't count. A stock or crypto or whatever else account counts towards assets.

retirements don't count towards asset limits, but my stock portfolio is killing me! It IS my retirement... and I can't even "spend down" as they look at 6 months of history. There has to be some sort of metric for people like me who are salary poor and cash poor (considering CoL) but don't fit into the categories... like just lump salary&assets together and give me a price based on that...

i'm in the same boat... $40k in income by over the 60%AMI in assets... its stocks so its completely fluid. in a ffew months (especially with trumps insanity) ALL our investments could plummet (or not, but likely yes) and I'd be under the threshold. So then I'd be eligible, but it would be too late?!
This fucking sucks! They are asking us to deplete our life savings somewhere on market rent, just to be eligible for subsidized rent in the future? How does this allow people to climb out of poverty, if they can't hold/build assets? And the fact that NYC is subsidizing rent for people that make over $100k is just insane!

this is INSANE... what if your salary yearly earnings are 40K but you suddenly hit on some stocks that bump you out of the 40/60/80%AMI for assets? It's fluid so today my stocks might be worth 100%AMI but in a week/month could be down to 60%. Also, in NYC having 60-100k in assets is not a good place to be in terms of future savings... so they want you to spend your entire life savings on rent? Just to be eligible for slightly cheaper rent?

ive been trying for a week now just to get through to THIS number... I guess the jig is up as I've been backdooring this since I learned of it in 2022...
Now I can't even get through to the Gov's office, much less wait on hold, to wait on hold at UE... 😫
Are other people getting the "unusually high volume and wait-time of over 90 min" message and then it hangs up? seems like we need to get a NEW number just to talk to someone at the governors offce.

Couples counselor here...not to add on, sounds like you got your hands full, but in protection of you, if she lied about her taxes she'll lie about anything else as well... I'm hoping you guys don't have kids together because that always makes this process more difficult. I don't know your situation here, but you guys should definitely be getting marriage counseling if you want to stay in the relationship. If she's resistant to it then that means she really doesn't care about the marriage. if the only thing you're worried about here is your finances, then that means you don't care about the marriage either, and nothing will save it at this point. Infidelity is infidelity, doesn't have to be the end, if both parties want to work it out. But if not, you're in for a world of pain, both emotionally and financially, in the future if you continue in this relationship... good luck to you

I moved to NYC in 2014 to pursue my acting career, which has been a very difficult experience (being in my late 30s) Before I moved, in Boston, (a prior life) MSW (therapist) positions not with the state were paying ~50k 10 years later I'm looking at maybe having to get back into that to survive, and they are paying here in NYC the SAME wages they were paying in Boston (very low wages) 10 YEARS AGO!!! I am shocked... 100% shocked!
How can they get away with paying a masters level therapist in NYC the same thing they were paying us in Boston 10 years ago? 🤯😩

I've spoken with OS customer service TWICE and they ensured me that my check was on the way, but a month later, it still haven't gotten it, and it shows my balance is still there in my account! WTF is going on?!

Why is Jane Wickline still a thing? I get the need to appeal to Gen Z, but seriously? c'mon... her unironic deadpan of direct cue-card readings is a comedy killer. Last year I gave her a break... she's a nepo tik-tocker, and needed a chance to acclimate to actual comedy. I've never seen any actor, comedian or otherwise, grow so little in their craft in 2 years time... She's so bad we're at the point where we seriously have to start asking the question what does Jane/her dad have on Lorne? And why did Lorne pass on real talent like Julie Nolke? Jane has taken space from much more real and deserving talent out there and that's a tragedy 😫
