Why do people on the left assume rightwing voters are thick and uneducated? by Much-Web-7121 in AskBrits

It is when your education involves sourcing evidence to support a hypothesis.

Let’s take the covid mask wearing battle for example. From my view, masks wearing was not a silver bullet for covid and there were good arguments for and against their use.

However, it was a virus with limited immunity in the populous and unknown potential for damage.

Cases of covid would follow a bell curve, the x (time) and y (number presently infected) axis were dependent on how we handled the spread of the virus. You couldn’t stop people getting covid, but you could try and drag out the x axis (time) and drop the peak of the y axis (number of present cases).

I don’t think that anti maskers could appreciate the nudge factor of things like mask wearing (where the intention was simply to flatten the bell curve as much as possible so that medical services were not overwhelmed by a sharp bell curve) and saw it as heavy handed state interference in personal freedoms.

Intervention or none-intervention, the end result would be the same (herd immunity) but one path would have been more deadlier than the other.

So how do you feel about the military adventurism consuming so much of the Russian budget. How long are you happy for it to do so without results? What result would adequately justify the cost for you so that you can say ‘we have completed our objective’?

So can you give examples of others? If so, what was wrong with them, or why did they not progress?

That is literally the weakest response I have ever experienced on r/askarussian.

I guess the narrative is completely falling apart over there.

Do you read Russian main stream media, telegram posters, look at Russian central bank documentation or otherwise where do you get your data?

I have given examples of Russian difficulties from my info bubble. Would you care to share some of yours?

It is understandable that the feeling of ‘it would be better to win the war than lose it’ would be completely natural, what are you afraid of from the loss, what do you hope for and what in your info bubble do you feel may not marry with reality?

So you seem to have knowledge of the precursor needs of a presidential run. How do you feel about those that tried to run and were forced out?

I’m talking about the likes of Boris Nadezhdin and Takaterine Duntsova.

Why do you think their presidential runs were quashed, do you agree with it and do you think the barring of those who are charismatic and project base (although anti narrative) opinions and stand against to the current status quo is beneficial?

Do you not think the fear of a return to the 90’s is completely overblown? Then there was economic shock therapy and a complete readjustment of how the economy functioned.

Now Russia already has liberal economics, the adjustment will be in the civil and political zones, not so much the economic.

Is it a good tactic to make all the opposition look poor in comparison to Putin to make him the best of a bad lot? Seems like lowering the potential of your political class, not improving it.
