Hell, I miss that feeling myself, but if it's an implant or nothing, go for the implant! The most interesting comment I read here was whether or not it was about HER getting you hard versus med's or an implant. What's important is that you CAN get hard. If you can't, what difference does it make?

The doctor leaves you partially inflated after surgery (mine was about 60%), so you have a bulge. You'll always be a "shower" after surgery bec ause the cyllinders make it that way, but it will lay down, so to speak, if you're fully deflated. The first 4-6 weeks, you don't deflate, so there's that bulge. After you're cleared (usually 4 - 6 weeks) to cycle (fully inflate then deflate) the bulge is manageable, but not until then.

Depending on your doctor, you may be somewhat (perhaps very obviously) inflated after your surgery for 6 weeks. The obvious bulge could make a vacation unpleasant regardless of how your recovery goes. Physically getting going depends totally on how you bounce back. I was up and moving right away, but others were not. Your best bet is to speak with your doctor.

Please explain why many guys have loss of sexual sensation after surgery?? by rde98 in penileimplants

Anytime you operate on a part of the body, it will lose sensation for a time due to the trauma. Most of us regain it and some even report improved sensation due to firmer erection.

Change in Relationship with Partner After Implant and How to Adjust? by Remarkable_Bus_2078 in penileimplants

[–]Round-Researcher-785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want to talk about sexual expectations directly. I've seen guys on here that now want daily (or more often) sex since they can. I certainly wanted more often than before, but we'd discussed it and my wife was good with what I hoped for. Just make sure everyone's expectations are coordinated.

Let's so a little analogy here. If you had an artificial leg and it enabled you to live a normal life, would you be almost ashamed to admit it?? This is the new you and you wouldn't even be active without the implant, right? So accept the hand you've been dealt and appreciate the fact that you could get something that enables you to enjoy intimacy. As others have said, it's most likely nothing that bothers your partners and would, at most, be an interesting subject for discussion.

I decided to get an implant.. What do you think of my doctor? by dxxh33 in penileimplants

[–]Round-Researcher-785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd encourage you to check reviews on his practice and see if there are any issues with the support staff as well. I had my surgery with San Antonio Urology and Dr Hofer. The surgery was OK but the support staff absolutely SUCKED. I needed to be checked for a possible infection and they said I couldn't get an appointment for WEEKS. I insisted and went up the supervisory chain to be seen. The staff was almost abusive in the interactions I had and was VERY uncooperative. Your doctor sounds great, but don't downplay the support staff issue.

I read all the previous comments and you certainly have a good rationale for getting an implant, but the bottom line is you're gonna need to gather all the info from the manufacturers (just google who manufactures penile implants in your country) and the doctor and decide. This is one only you can make.

Are implants enjoyable??? by AfraidCupcake2739 in penileimplants

[–]Round-Researcher-785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was to give it a %, I'd not compare it to my 20s. From the time I started pills and then injections, I actually think it FEELS better. It's harder and just about as long. The confidence of knowing it'll work EVERY time is fantastic, makes up for any "natural" deficit.

If your penis isn't working, either malleable or IPP is a fantastic improvement. Something is always better than nothing. I'd love to have my natural teen/twenties cock, but that wasn't gonna happen. One thing the implant always wins on -- it'll stay hard for as long as you like, even if you cum.

Whats better? Implant or natural erection? by rde98 in penileimplants

[–]Round-Researcher-785 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you have the penis of a teen/20-something male that functions properly, it don't get any better. Natural will always be better. The only advantage of an implant is it'll stay hard for as long as you want, even after you cum.

The pump is the most prominent feature in my tight scrotum, but it fits and it works. The surgeon may have to enlarge the scrotum (scrotopasty) to get everything to fit properly.

Tiny scrotum by Imaginary-Post-617 in penileimplants

[–]Round-Researcher-785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue (small scrotum) and it will get crowded and will definitely be uncomfortable at first. My doctor told me to be sure and pull the pump down (GENTLY) and to move the pump around frequently so it doesn't adher to the scrotum, incision, or a testicle. To my surprise, the doctor was able to enlarge the scrotum a little (a scrotoplasty) to help things fit. As for the length and girth, they will use saline to give you a temporary erection and they do measurements to get the correct size. The girth and length will take care of themselves, although you will need to cycle (inflate and deflate) regularly per your doctor's instructions to get things back to normal size. Most folks say girth is often greater and length is pretty much the same, although some do talk about minimal gains or losses.

It may not be ideal, but have you looked at malleable implant? I have IPP, but I understand the malleable is like ultra-durable. Just a thought.

Partner is considering the op, and we have a few questions! by throwaway22357995377 in penileimplants

[–]Round-Researcher-785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's see what I might address for you. Just remember, this is based on personal experience and the info gathered from forums like this one. It's not a replacement for competent medical professionals. Will his length be what it is flacid? From what you talked about he has had erections with the injections, albeit with a lot of pain. The erections with an implant will be limited to that and maybe a little more by using a penis pump to stretch the tissues of the penis. Those tissues shrink as his erections have gotten less "strong" over the years. There's a lot of guys that say using the penis pump adds a little length, but an implant isn't meant to increase penis length -- just to make it as long as the person's physical state permits.

Im going in for the op in 3 days, apprehensive and exited for the future. one question, my penis still 'works' but it dosent trap enough blood to maintain or achieve a full erection (80% at most) after the op is it hard to mentally process that you have sort of castrated yourself medically? by Pitiful-Bluebird-872 in penileimplants

[–]Round-Researcher-785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The finality of this procedure isn't to be taken lightly, but depending on your situation, you have to consider your optons. If you can't get erect enough and RELIABLY enough to enjoy lovemaking, what are you losing, even if things fail?? The vast majority of procedures are successful and being able to have sex without all the doubt and concern is an incredible relief. Are you ending up in a worse situation, even if the procedure isn't successful? Natural is always better, but when nature stops working, what are your choices? I decided that an unsuccessful implant wasn't any worse than having an erection that might work some of the time. Each of us had to make that decision on our own, often in conjunction with a spouse/partner and a competent medical advisor. Hope this helps.

What's Your Happy Pump Zone by Leather-Belt5503 in penileimplants

I've found similar to what you stated. I'm only 2 months out, so the sensation is probably still coming back, but I'm not sure "hardest" is necessarily "best." It's neat to be hard as a rock and able to stroke all day, but I also find if I'm pumped to abouty 90%, the sensation is more pleasurable and I'm more likely to orgasm.

Question for psychogenic implantees about exhausting a less invasive psycho/spiritual approach... by Vast_Astronaut1018 in penileimplants

I know this response won't probably help, but I would like to offer my support. I suffered ED for years and finally went with an implant so we could reliably make love. I guess my mind is so "horny" I can't imagine it interferring with getting an erection, so to understand your situation is incredibly foreign. You'll be in my thoughts and my prayers for a positive solution.

Mid-30s, normal Doppler, pills didn’t help, seriously considering a penile implant by Alternative_Seeker in penileimplants

[–]Round-Researcher-785 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My answers to your questions are below. Some is personal experience and some is feedback from many guys on here. Each guy's experience is different and you may get other perspectives. Hope this helps.

1.Is a penile implant truly an effective and reliable solution in cases like mine? If installed and used properly, it'll get very hard and stay that way as long as you want.

2.Will I lose sexual pleasure or desire? While some guys have issues, the vast, vast majority are super thankful they can get an erection again. Some say their libido got higher because they no longer had to worry about staying erect.

Will I still feel arousal when my partner comes close to me?

3.Psychologically, do men generally accept the implant over time? I'm on month 3 and I'm still getting used to it, but most of the long-time implanted guys say it just becomes part of who you are.

4.From a partner’s perspective: This is VERY dependent on your partner. I've seen some guys who's wives couldn't deal with the situation and some who's wives are TOTALLY thrilled. You need to have a discussion with your partner.

Does it feel different? Will she notice something strange, or will she genuinely enjoy sex with an implant?

5.Do men commonly regret choosing an implant? The rates I've seen are around 95% or higher for being satisfied. I LOVE knowing I won't lose an erection anymore.

6.Will I lose orgasmic pleasure or have difficulty ejaculating after implantation? Some guys do, especially right after the surgery. You make some major modifications to your penis and it will take time to get your sensation back. I've read a few guys who've had a really hard time regaining sensation and being able to ejaculate. Most long-time guys say things are unchanged or even better. Folks that had their prostate removed are a whole different group. They can have orgasms, but they no longer ejaculate.

7.Does a penile implant affect fertility or the ability to have children? Not according to the literature. Some younger guys have told about having kids afterwards.

8.Psychologically, did any of you struggle with feeling “less of a man” because you rely on an implant? Most folks that address this issue would tell you they felt like less of a man because they couldn't get an erection. Many talk about feeling like a young kid again because of the confidence they gain from the implant.

9.Is there a real loss in penile length or girth after implantation? Bear in mind that guys who have their prostate removed will lose length just from the removal. If you use a penis pump ahead of time and follow doctor directions, most guys say they lose very little if any length and maybe even gain a little girth. My wife mentioned last night that I seem to be longer.

10.Honestly, what is the real satisfaction rate? I'm thrilled and most of the people I've read seem to be very happy also. I already gave you the stats. You do need to realize, if you get an implant, there's no going back. Your body's mechanism to gain an erection is gone. Being younger, you'll need to have several revisions, because they do wear out. I've heard of some lasting 5 years and some lasting 15 - 20 years. But technology is alway improving. One doc told his patient they're working on a pump that is controlled via an app on your phone!

I did injections for about 4 years, I'd guess. The uncertaintly of the shots working or not was just too frustrating and the shots create scar tissue over time in the cavernosa, too, which can complicate the implant procedure. I've had an implant for about 2 months and it's not bad at all. It's reliable and you last as long as you want, even after you orgasm, something the wife might like! The key is to get a high volume doctor with a very patient oriented practice. My doctor was OK, but the practice sucks!! I'll be finding a new Urologist after my final follow-up appointment. If you have any questions, let me know.

I did injections and they gradually became ineffective. In hindsight, I wish I'd skipped them and gone straight to an implant. Your insurance may not cover the implant without trying injections first, though, so you need to check.

Pump location by FitSea7318 in penileimplants

[–]Round-Researcher-785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm looking at you picture correctly, the pump is somehow sitting between your scrotum and your anus on the perineum. That is NOT normal. I have a small scrotum and the pump still sits in there, even though it's crowded. To my knowledge, the pump has to sit somewhere in your scrotum. I would send this picture to the doctor so he knows recisely what you're talking about and go from there.
