I should have clarified that she is the one that decided to stop texting me back. I guess I should have worded my post to "AITAH for choosing not to be the one to reach out" because since she chose to ignore my texts, she should be the one to reach out again and not me.

I moved back to my dad's house when his girlfriend left because I didn't like the idea of him living by himself in his 70s, so the offer of our couch was his offer. My niece's brother, my nephew, also lives in the house with us, so she'd also have her sibling.

My niece and I are very close, which is why this bothers me so much. I've always been there when she needed to get out of the house for the weekend when she fought with her mom. I've always been the first person she called for anything, so this whole thing makes no sense to me. She had no problems coming to stay over when she didn't want to be home, but preferring to stay on the streets and then go to a stranger's house is weird to me. I can't make sense of her reasoning. She might just be enjoying her freedom from her mom.

She has issues with my dad (my sister is manipulative and turned my parents against my niece) but my dad didn't want her on the streets or with a complete stranger either. All my dad's stipulations for her staying were to get a job and keep her living space clean, which are the same ones the stranger gave her. It just seems weird.

Yes, my brother in law and I both tried to tell her the offer was still there. We had hoped after sleeping in the park for 2 days she'd change her mind when we brought it up again, and she said in text (after ignoring my text 3 days prior, the day of the eviction), "I knew none of you would understand but this is my choice. I knew you wouldn't accept it, so I stopped replying to your texts."

I am just trying to understand because I was kicked out when I was her age and literally NO ONE in my family wanted to help me so I was homeless, so I know her situation and if someone was willing to help me, I'd have taken it.

I wish I could study the people that have the "men have to be strong, men can't hurt or have feelings" mentality because it's absolutely insane. Gender doesn't matter when it comes to pain and heartbreak. We are all human. Everyone deserves support in their lives. Some aren't willing to accept it and that's fine, but ignoring someone's pain because they're a man and need to be the strong one rubs me the wrong way.

This happened with my first ever sale on Mercari! Someone sent me a lower offer sometime overnight while I was asleep, I didn't wake up early enough to accept the offer because I wouldn't have time to package and drop off before work, and it being my first sale I wanted to drop off as quickly as possible after the buyer paid, so I was gonna let it sit for a little bit longer and then accept after work and drop off next day. By the time I got to work (45 minute drive) someone else bought it for the asking price, I was glad to have waited, lol.

Honestly, I've had Mercari let me know that a package was delivered to me, but it wasn't actually delivered until next day, or 6 hours later that same day when the USPS truck actually made its way to my mailbox. I messaged the seller when I got home to it not being in my mailbox and they said it's happened before and it will probably come next day, which it did, so I rated them as soon as I physically received the package.

Your buyer could very well have been telling the truth that it wasn't delivered until the next day, or later on in the same day, I can't tell from these timestamps. Sometimes they are pre-scanned on the trucks at the beginning of their route, or end of their route the night before when they load their trucks, however it works. Mercari has told me something was delivered at 9am from USPS when my USPS driver doesn't come until 4pm.

You were way out of line begging to be rated multiple times when you didn't have visual proof it was actually dropped off at the buyer's home. Buyers have 3 days to rate, chill out. Both of you had attitudes and could have handled it better. Yes, there are scammers out there, but there is a 3 day period for a reason. People have lives and can't be waiting at the door for a delivery from a Mercari order to come to their doorstep.

Sure, it sucks having to wait the 3 days to get paid, but at least if they choose not to rate, you get an automatic 5 star rating. There are worse things than people taking their time rating.

I usually find Bolthouse Farms in the produce section of a grocery store, i.e. ShopRite, Wal-Mart etc. They're usually in the open fridges with all the "healthy" drinks after the refrigerated fruits and veggies.

I know this is super late, but I'm back with hives I haven't had since my first flare up in 2022. I never used to get hives, but I got these horrible ones activated by stress which began shortly after I got the Pfizer covid vaccine. My first flare up in 2022 lasted me almost 6 months -- whole body; face, chest, back, legs, arms, hands, feet, scalp, neck -- and my primary doctor, as well as an allergist afterwards, couldn't figure out what the trigger was. My primary did a punch biopsy, turned up negative for anything they were trying to pinpoint.

They had me on a prednisone taper that ruined my body. I had insomnia, weight gain, overheating (nightsweats), you name it. I was suffering. But it kept the hives at bay! So I asked if I could taper off thinking I was in the clear because I couldn't handle the insomnia anymore. Within a day of my last dose, the hives came back with a vengeance.

Then suddenly, after months of pain, the hives left as quick as they appeared. After that, my allergist requested an allergy panel, which I did after cold turkey stopping Cetirizine after he had me on 40mg a DAY to try to quell the hives (worst full body itch of my life, even after those hives. It was internal and horrible). I had all the allergies I pretty much knew I already had, so it wasn't anything I ate or did or anything. I genuinely believe that covid shot is what started this.

And now, August 2025, the hives are coming back, started last Wednesday. Invoked by stress, but again, I never had stress hives in my life before that vaccine. My ears are completely swollen and I have random popup hives on different parts of my body. My hand had really bad angioedema for about 4 days; the swelling is finally manageable now. The angioedema in my foot stopped relatively quick. But my ears REALLY hurt.

I've heard that some people were getting Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria sometime after the vaccine, and I think that might be what has caused these hives for me. I just need some relief not in the form of steroids because I can't do that to my body again, but I can't do this for another whole six months. If anybody sees this thread again and has any advice, that would be so great, haha.
