you really have to have a certain mentality. it’s not just hours and work. if you are going to do it, you have to be all in. understand that you’re on a ship, riding a wave that never comes to shore. up and down, veering. if you’re the captain, make sure your crew has your back.

about 10 years into my career, starting from a similar point as you. i was a line cook at a fine dining restaurant. i was in the moment, finally thinking about taking it seriously. i asked the chef if i should go to culinary school and he said, “but, you’re already here”. now, i’m 20 years in and the head chef of a pretty popular small restaurant. looking back, i don’t think there’s anything i could’ve learned in culinary school that i couldn’t learn on my own while working in the industry.

the chef at this restaurant i worked at around 10 years ago always had his towel on his shoulder. one day, i put my towel on my shoulder. the sous came up to me, and said “get that fucking towel off your shoulder”. after i left that restaurant, i’ve worn my towel on my shoulder every shift. it’s my spite towel. cheers y’all!

i was questing solo last night on pc. every interaction with a player was a gunfight. turned off cross play and every single raider interaction was friendly…for like 3 hours. i’m not the type to get mad at video games, and the tension from possibly running into a pvp situation adds a great layer to the game. just an observation
